I am very disappointed in the material and the fact that there is no extra material at the end of the toes. Thinking seriously of returning them as I do not believe they will last more than a couple of months before there is a hole or at minimum evidence of wear and tear. This is my 4th pair, I need them for my orthotics but the quality of shoe continues to deteriorate.

I tried both the wide and the extra wide shoeeach makes my whole body ache in ways it doesn't with the Echelon 8 (knees, back, quads); I think it is because the super thick sole does not allow my foot to bend when I walk. That sole may be a fad that sells shoes, but it doesn't take care of feet. While the Echelon 8W toe box was more than roomy, even the extra wide in the Echelon 9 gave me a big blister, and I can't remember the last time I had one of those! I relied on and loved the Echelon 8 and walked many many miles in them. I actually feel resentful that the people in charge messed with a healthy orthotic shoe just to keep up with a fad.

Heel is so big and wide it slips. EW toe box doesn't mean EW heel. Women have narrow heels. What have you done? I need these for my orthotics and I cannot wear them as my heel slips forward and out

I too have been an echelon consumer for years but this new redesign has changes so much about the shoe. It hits my outer ankle bone, the weird beveled heel makes me feel unsteady, and no toe cover just the mesh. I'm a toe lifter so I tend to tear right through the mesh within a month or so but the old designs had a strip of faux leather which kept that from occurring. I am going to have to look for a different shoe brand. Very sad.
