I have been shopping LLB for years and am generally very happy. But this t shirt is very light weight - I thought it would have been more substantial.

Product is good. However, LL sends out catalog with products Not In Stock, or already Sold Out. Have not been happy with my latest order. Poor selection of in stock. Slow recovery time. And then you have T's that I wanted, but not available when I ordered.

Indestructible and well made. Utilitarian. Boxy, mainstream, large fit. If that's what you're looking for, I highly recommend. If your looking for something with a fashionable fit, this is NOT for you.

My husband loved the way these t-shirts fit and especially the length, but after it's first wash, it did shrink and we thought it was not supposed to. Other than that, it's a nice, comfortable shirt

The quality is good, the cotton is finely woven, the seams are nicely finished. But, for me at least, there are several flaws that limit my enthusiasm. First, the fabric has a chemical coating that presumably prevents shrinkage. The problem is that it also prevents wicking of perspiration. That's a fatal flaw in warm weather. Second, there is elastic in the neck seam. It is fine if that's what you like, but I find it constricting. Finally, the substance used to prevent shrinkage is not described in any Bean literature that I've found. Is it safe? Who says? Frankly, it's not what I prefer to have next to my skin. Can't anyone make a nice simple tee shirt of good quality that shrinks and fades like a tee shirt should?

This shirt fits well & is well made. However, the color is somewhat off. I bought 4 black shirts, but the color is somewhat faded especially around the collar.
I have bought LLBean T's before and have noticed that the collars don't hold up as well as I would like.

I have 6 of these T-Shirts. The fit, size and durability are great. EXCEPT - the collar band quickly distorts to a ripple pattern. It makes the shirt look old and worn. Fix this and I may never wear anything else!

I have an older LL Bean T-shirt that is 5 years old or older. I wear it once a week all year long. Those older T-shirts were so great - thick, comfortable, and well fitting. The new ones just don't measure up. This one is thinner and not quite as long.
Last year I bought a few T-shirts from an on-line competitor - they are better than this shirt (I couldn't say that 5 years ago).
The old T-shirts were better than they had to be; the new ones are just okay.

I have many of the LLBean Carefree Unshrinkable Tee Shirts and have always preferred them to other lighter material shirts. Now, clearly, LLBean has changed manufacturers for this shirt and gone to a lighter, thinner (and cheaper, I magine) material. It fits a little bigger and the pocket sags if you try to carry anything like a cell phone. Never did on the older shirts. I guess I will be shopping for another supplier for my T-shirts.

I've got about a dozen of these and I love them for the fit and quality. However, I have 3 in different shades of green and all faded in patches within a few months. I still wear them, but it's disappointing that I'm getting splotches of fading so soon. It turns them from casual shirts to work shirts pretty quickly.

These are still good tee-shirts, but I honestly must say they're not what they used to be, and I have had dozens of LL's Carefree Unshrinkable Tee's over the years. #1 : They have become much thinner: I actually weighed the new one I got recently and compared to an older one that had been washed dozens of times ... 236 grams for the 2016 version, 295 grams for the older, well-washed one. They feel flimsy and don't offer much warmth. #2 - after a couple of washes, the neck line gets all bagged out and misshapen. #3 - the pockets are too small to securely hold a pair of reading glasses or an iPod Touch. Plus the price has skyrocketed. I've switched to the Seacoast Knee Tee's and hope they don't get discontinued.

I see the current version (mid-2015) of this long-time favorite as 3 1/2 stars, but I'll round to 3 stars.
I'm not a fan of the sleeve length - it's too baggy and long, practically to my elbow. On the other hand, I do like the neckline - slightly higher and neater than many other tees, without the sloppy "scoop neck" effect that many cheap shirts have.
Aside from the above matters of personal preference, the much-maligned no-stain treatment, coupled with the relatively thick (i.e., high quality) material, makes for a rather uncomfortably hot shirt during warmer months. It doesn't breathe very well at all, and I've learned not to wear it alone in very hot weather or as springtime or summer layering piece. The build quality is otherwise pretty good and sturdy, as one would expect from LL Bean.
I'd like to see more colors available.

Tight in the neck. No matter how much you try to stretch the neck, it will go back to its original state. Not a bad thing but the neck is too tight. I have experienced some piling on the back of the shirt due to wearing a messenger bag on my daily commute. I also feel the sleeves are a little too long but rolling them up solves that problem.

The neck openings on these shirts is smaller than the shirts we ordered last year. My husband feels like he's choking with these new ones. Unfortunately we are sending them back.

I ordered a white t shirt, and while He loves the fit and weight of the t-shirt, after washing several times the neckline turned a light cream color. Can't wear it under another shirt because it still shows. Did not happen on the long sleeve, just the short sleeve.

This tee was listed as light weight which is why I bought it. It is heavy and hot.

Got two for my husband and after consulting with customer service on the phone, got size large. He is 5'10" and 178 lbs. and they're a tad tight. Should have gotten XL. Other than that, quality is good.

This is an excellent product, very durable and soft on the skin. It is my impression that sizing of this product has changed. For years, I used the large - I am 6' tall, 165 lbs. This month I ordered the large again, but it is huge in width and chest. I returned it and got a medium. While it is OK, it's more snug than my previous large, so I am not as happy now as I used to be with this product.

I agree with Mike of Phoenix. These shirts are not up to the quality of earlier LL Bean pocket T's I have purchased. They are a thinner cotton material and "Made in China" vs "Made in Sri Lanka" as the older t-shirts were. Why are we as consumers settling for lower and lower quality products? It is very disappointing.

The shirt is comfortable and fairly good quality, but it does not compare to the sun-washed t-shirt that Bean used to carry and is - unfortunately - no longer available. The colors are not as natural, the cloth is not as soft, and the quality is poorer (one shirt started unravelling at the hem after one wearing). I hope Bean re-introduces the sun-washed t-shirts that they used to carry (I believe they were made in Chile).

I have been wearing this same LL Bean T-shirt for over 10 years, back when they were made in the US. I have experienced a continuous decline in the weight and quality of the fabric over the years. I look forward to a reverse of that trend.

These otherwise fine pocket T's are big-shouldered so you had better be, as well. For the trim man, even the older trim man, these do not provide much of a tapered or even a natural fit.

The shirt is really sewn well and fits great. The problem is the very first wearing on a trail walk, the sweat from my neck discolored (bleached) the collar. Now it's only good enough for a yard work shirt (sigh). I use a medicated face wash, so maybe that contributed to the problem.

I purchased two unshrinkable tees for my husband's birthday. The colors were great and so was the quality. Unfortunately, he looked a bit like Omar the Tent Maker due to its "generous" cut. I recognize the fact that many Americans require shirts that accommodate an expanding waist line; since that doesn't apply to my husband, the shirt was very unflattering. I would recommend it, however, if your significant other needs a shirt that doesn't accentuate a plus-size waist.
