I've walked in this on days with a light drizzle for about an hour and it didn't leak through. I wouldn't wear it out intentionally for rain but if you were to get caught in an unexpected shower I think it would be fine. I've worn it in strong winds and it made for a very good windbreaker. It's not insulated but a outer shell designed for layering underneath. Bonus, it looks great.

My 3rd Mountain Anorak; the 1st is 21 wears old, still wearable, and the 2nd is 10 years old and carried-off by my son. Bought this because I like the Blue color. I've worn these nordic skiing, downhill skiing, dog-sledding, snowmobiling, canoeing, hiking, and on the sidelines at a lot of kids' sporting events. Great in wind or light precip, can be worn over a fleece/down layer, and pack-down so it can always be stuffed in a day pack. This new model seems to be a slightly heavier gauge nylon, and I like it. I'd give it 5 Stars if they had not removed the waist cord: It was very useful for controlling ventilation, or locking heat in, and snow out, when skiing/snowmobiling. I also preferred the plastic cord-locks on the hood drawstring: the leather looks nice, but takes longer to adjust, and slips; I'll swap them out since I expect to wear this for 20 years. Good buy, good piece of gear.

As long as you realize this is a very lightweight shell, you'll like it I'm sure. Over 15 years ago, I had bought the L.L. Bean anorak sold at the time. It consisted of two layers of nylon instead of one, giving it more warmth. Although I still would prefer that design, I'm satisfied with this anorak. It has a deeper zipper--great for taking it off and for ventilating. It has pass-through handwarmer pockets plus the kangaroo pouch opening from the top, so stuff can't fall out. The hood is actually too generously cut and overhangs my face too far, but not a big problem because I'll rarely use it. I wore this in a steady, light rain, and it repelled water very well. The Supplex nylon feels the same as cotton to me.
This is a good jacket to stash away in a backpack, due to its compactness when zipped into its pouch.

I ordered the jacket in a size Large for my husband. He usually wears a L from LL Bean. When the jacket arrived it was actually nicer than I expected but was too small. The sleeves were too short. The fabric is quite nice. I exchanged it for a XL and am hopeful the larger size is a better fit.

This jacket is well designed with a nice fitting cut and overall quality. The front zipper pocket is very handy and probably my favorite feature. It's a great jacket for the price point.

This is an all around awesome jacket. The only setback I have is that I wish the sleeves were a little bit longer but other than that I'm loving the jacket

I received this as a gift. The L was too small, but that's not surprising because I usually need L Tall. But even that was too small. Even XL Tall is a bit snug when going on or off, although it fits fine once it's on. The store never had any Tall sizes on the rack so it took two returns to get it all sorted out. My recommendation is to buy a size up.

This is a very nice anorak. it was a bit tight for me where size large is too big.
Unfortunately I had to return it. I was charged for shipping both ways.

Lightweight, comfortable and packable for traveling. I wish it was waterproof rather than water resistant. I returned the tall for a regular large. The tall was too long even though I'm 6'2"'.

I ordered this to replace a Bean anorak I got many years ago which finally met its demise on a barb-wire fence. Somewhat sadly, the old type is no longer available. This one isn't the tightly woven nylon of the old style; it's nylon, and it's tightly woven, but the fabric surface seems brushed rather than smooth. It seems to block the wind just as well (the reason I got it), and it is quieter in the brush than the old style. Those are the best points, but I took off one star for a couple of reasons. First, the sizing seems off. By the chart, I should wear a "Medium"; I fell right in the middle of that range. But the medium was way too small. Bean graciously exchanged it for the "Large" I now have, which fits. But though it fits, the "slightly fitted" character makes it more difficult to put on than the old style and precludes layering over anything heavier than a T-shirt.

This is a great windbreaker. I use it on my motorcycle on cool mornings to keep the wind off and its good for that. I did wear it in the rain and I started getting wet after about 5-10 minutes in average rain. You can wear it in a misty rain ok and it will repel some water but not more than that.

I got an extra size ( normally L, got XL) up to allow room for fleece layers. The anorak was "just right" alone, snug with a 200 weight polartec pullover below. It would get 5 stars otherwise.
The first wearing was in 40F drizzle on a morning hike. I was dry and comfy, but still snug, during the outing. The hood covered well and provided coverage when facing the rain. Not waterproof, but VERY resistant.
This is my second LLB anorak in 15 years. I expect #2 to last a while!

Nice jacket, sleeves were a bit short for a 2X but otherwise happy with the jacket. Very packable and convenient for carry on luggage

Happy to see the return of the Anorak! Been a faithful fan wearing since the late 1970's. Thinner fabric will work for summer... wish it was not a slim cut to allow seasonal layering. Please bring back more colors and woman's sizing.

If only the sizing stayed the same. Have an older version of this and can wear a large upgraded to Xl and not a good fit will be exchanging.

The jacket is great. The hood is way too big. Needs a strap / drawcord to make the hood adjustable.

I recently wore it to an outdoor concert. The rain repelled for about two hours, then it failed. I was drenched.

I've had this for a few years now. It is definitely more of a stylish piece than a functional piece: it is lightweight and comfy but not really warm and more of a breeze breaker than a wind breaker... I am not sure where they get off calling it "water resistant" though.

This anorak looks nice and fits great. Like it in nautical navy. It has a hood and kangaroo pouch. My only complaint is the drawstrings on the hood are cheap and flimsy, too thin & the strings on the bottom of it that tighten the anorak to your waist are also very cheap & flimsy. I'm surprised at LL Bean. They usually make everything of good quality.

It's an OK-looking pullover, but it's not made of flexible or breathable material. It seems to me that it is made of older technology.
