These are nice, lightweight and just loose enough to be truly cool and allow easy movement.
Problem #1: I love the idea of a stretchy top (I have some from another brand that are super comfy) but the knit band at the top of these crops is way too loose to stay up without tying. They come with an elastic tie that is so long that the ends hang to my mid thigh when tied in a bow. Not a good look.
Problem #2: the cargo pockets are too small for a normal cell phone. Useless on a hike..
I'll keep them, but I won't buy another pair.
p.s. When will LLBean stop sewing the scratchy tag in the back of the waistband?

I first bought 2 pairs of these and was in love. I quickly learned if you wear these pants without just recently shaving your legs, the friction will destroy the fabric. I am so bummed, as these were expensive and SO comfy. However, I cannot commit to shaving everyday and remembering to only wear them when I have just shaved! I work in a preschool, so I am up and down, squatting and sitting criss cross, which causes lots of friction near the knees.

Great idea, but the fabric does not last. It's pilled and caught in places you wouldn't expect it. Would not recommend in the current form!

I ordered a pair of the Vista Camp cropped pants in gray about two months ago. With normal wear and washing, they are falling apart. There is tremendous pilling on the exterior about the hip area where your t-shirt or top naturally hits. And there is weird pulling and pilling of the fabric on the inside across where the pants hit your shins which I am thinking is being caused by the fabric + leg stubble. The fact that small leg hairs could so such damage to pants that cost nearly $70 is insane.
Thinking this might be an anomaly, I ordered a second pair in black. The first pair was defective and had to be sent back (the pull cord on the left leg was sewn shut rendering the pull cord useless to cinch the legs as an option).
The second pair arrived not quite a month ago and already are showing signs of wear and tear with only two washings on the books. The pilling around the waist and hips has started, as has the weird interior pulling across both shins (my legs are smooth as silk now BTW).
Something has been happening to LL Beans quality and quality control over the past 10 years, with significant degradation in women's fabrics especially over the past five years.
My older outwear, shoes, and French sailor tops from the 90s and early 2000s are still in tact, however, the tops and pants and dressed I've purchased in more recent years are essentially disposable fast fashion at expensive prices.
Save your money and pass on these pants.
If you must order, note that they are a comfy, relaxed fit that is true to size (though if your smaller boned I would size down as they do stretch out a bit).

wore these pants once and the fabric was very creased in thigh area after sitting for one hour. looked wrinkled and not at all as I expected from a nylon fabric. Pants too expensive for this to happen. I returned for a refund.

I've been thinking about purchasing these for a while and since we were at the store I decided to try them on. I'm glad I did the medium size was too big so I tried on a small and those were too small! Don't know what it is about LL Bean women's pants but they never seem to fit me right.
I normally wear a size 8 or 10 in other brands.

I love the vista camp pants with full length legs, but the cropped pants are kind of goofy looking. The legs are too wide at the bottom and when you cinch up one side, they hang wide and crooked looking- you can see that (crooked) in the picture but it is even more exaggerated when the pants are on. The "cinches" should be on BOTH sides of the pant leg. I am deciding whether I will send them back. They are also quite expensive...another good reason to return them.

I would give them a 5 star except they pilled within the year. They are comfortable and great for the gym or outdoors but I thought they would last longer. The long version also pilled. I'm hoping LLB has fixed this problem because I would get another pair.

The waist, crotch and length were fine but the legs, particularly the area below the buttocks, was very baggy. The strange flare of the leg at the hemline was unflattering and the hems kind of flapped when I walked. The fit seems to have changed since I last tried these pants. The adjustable waist is a fine idea in theory but I would much prefer some stretch in the waist as well rather than the rigid and unforgiving waistband that these have. I returned them

I bought these pants last year and decided to buy more this year, same size, but they were too big!!! Sizing not the same. I had to return them.

I am sad to say I can only report disappointment in these pants. They are comfortable and look nice, but the fabric is impractically delicate. These are supposed to be lightweight by rugged for outdoor activity. They are indeed lightweight, but the fabric began pilling literally the first day I wore them. I bought them Friday, and then Saturday I wore them to a living history museum. I walked around for about 3 hours while using my normal, small cross body purse. By the time I was done, the spot where my purse rests on my hip was ruined. One day, three hours of walking! I have used the purse for years and it has never ruined any of my other clothing. I am so disappointed because I thought I had found perfect UPF pants for casual activity, but for the price, these don't measure up at all.

I did not like the feel of the fabric. Too thin. Felt like I was wearing pajamas. I returned them.

I wanted to love these vista camp pants crop but the fit was not for me. The fabric was amazing, nice and lightweight and breathable but the fit of the garment was off. The legs and the butt were very baggy and loose but the waist was a little snug and felt uncomfortable.

I am nearly 5'7 and are these CAPRI pants or Ankle pants.? Everything that is Regular with you is so long!! Ohhh yeah, the stupid drawstring at the cuff? That only raises up the OUTSIDE of the garment leg and then slowly falls down anyway-and the string sticks out and looks stupid. Also, why do you have the waist cinch tie on the OUTSIDE? The string is so long that when it's tied it's a bulky looking YUCK under a shirt. Again-even the useless tie is too long. Why shud we have to figure out how to tuck it inside the pant when it shud be there all along? Certainly didn't have real girls input and these are great if ur the Jolly Green Giant

I had bought the long Vista Camp pants that I lived in this summer and thought I'd try the crop pants. They did not work out at all in terms of size and shape on my body. I returned them.

I didn't like the style once I saw it in person. Picture was on a "beautiful" body, whereas my lower extremities swell and I didn't believe it would fit well at all.

Just took them on a trip to the mountains. They wrinkled terribly in my suitcase like no other pants I've ever packed. Very disappointing. Fabric is very flimsy.

After wearing for two days, then washing, there was pilling around the side of the pants by the pockets. The material is also easy to snag, noticed one after washing:( Very disappointing, not L.L.Bean quality, I guess you can't win them all.

I washed one pair and will return it. The waist cord to pull was completely a mess. Part broke off, the rest was all twisted and crimped. This is clearly a design flaw. I will return them

These vista camp crop pants fit fine but they are extremely light weight and wrinkle terribly. I packed them (carefully) for a recent trip, but they were so badly wrinkled just from being packed that I couldn't wear them. The fabric needs to be a little heavier/firmer or whatever is needed to make them less prone to bad wrinkling. I can't bring them for the several trips I have planned this year.

In the photos of a model wearing these pants, they look fairly slim on the bottom. In reality, they are extremely wide at the bottom and look more like waders than capris. Incredibly unflattering even on an older lady like me. I bought a size xs, am 5ft 5 and 117 lbs.
