The fabric is not soft, and feels rough, like fine sandpaper. I washed them 3 times, trying different techniques recommended to soften new sheets but they remain as scratchy as ever. I can't sleep on these at all, but now they are washed so I'm stuck with them. The only thing these sheets are good for is to discourage guests from staying overnight. I am sad that I wasted so much time and money on such a poor product. Unless you are someone who sleeps fully clothed, take a pass on these sheets.

I was hoping these would be great sheets. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have mentioned, the fabric has a very scratchy feel to it. I tried washing the sheets, three times, but it did not help. It irritated my skin to sleep on them. You expect Percale sheets to sleep crisp and cool, but these sheets are rough and scratchy. The fabric does not feel like cotton. It has a rough, slippery, polyester feel to it. Very disappointed. I bought them partly based on the Consumer organization high ratings. After looking closer at the Consumer ratings though, most reviewers said they did not reccomend. They do seem to be fairly well tailored. The size and fit were nice, even after washing. But, at the end of the day, sheets should be comfortable to sleep on. Unfortunately, these are not. LL Bean should go back to the drawing board on this product.

I received several recommendations prior to purchasing this sheet set (wirecutter, etc). Unfortunately, as some more recent reviewers said, the quality is not up-to-par and the material is scratchy and thin. We use a variety of sheet sets and compared to our Hotel Collection, Costco and even Pinzon, these are by far significantly scratchier and stiffer. Therefore, I am definitely returning them.

Pillow cases are frayed at edge of fabric, not at a stress point. Fitted sheet has 2 inch wear which will rip soon. Sheets were purchased in November 2016, but are only on bed during summer months since I use the LL Bean flannel sheets from December through March or April. These should not be falling apart after less than 3 years of normal use.

I was very disappointed in the quality and returned this sheet set after giving them a try for a week. The sheets were rough and too itchy for me. I found a high-quality set at a comparable price from a popular husband and wife-founded brand.

Cheap, cheap, cheap. I purchased these sheets in 2017. They only lasted two years before they started to get worn and eventually tore. When I got in contact with customer service they told me I was out of luck. You think if you spend $150 on a set of sheets they would last longer than 24 months. LL Bean's quality has gone down in every way.

After reading some reviews that said these sheets were not soft and felt scratchy, I bought them anyway, thinking that they would be fine after I washed them, as recommended by LLBean in response to another review. Unfortunately, this was not the case. These sheets felt scratchy and uncomfortable, even after washing. The blue color was beautiful and I am sad that I had to return them; however, I will continue to stand by the high quality of LLBean products and remain a loyal customer.

I've had L.L. Bean sheets for years and years. The sets I had finally wore out which was to be expected. What I did not expect was the sheets I ordered as replacements. I thought I'd be getting the same bright white, crisp sheets. Instead what I received was sheets that are just plain icky. They are slippery, almost like they have some type of coating on them. Perhaps something is added to the fabric to make it wrinkle resistant? I've washed them multiple times now and the texture hasn't gotten any better. My other issue is the color. Instead of being a true white they have a pinkish-purplish cast. I keep thinking they will get better with use but they have not so I will be returning. What a disappointment and a hassle.

I am in complete disbelief that these sheets receive such high reviews from Consumer Reports and other sources. They feel more like a shower curtain infused with some cotton, rather than bed sheets. I had to return them, and won't buy sheets again unless I can shop in-person. I'm done with online sheet shopping!

I really wanted to fall in love with these sheets. That did not happen. The queen size was too large for my queen mattress, even after washing in hot water and drying on a high setting. After the first night, they were just a mess of sheets and very uncomfortable. They seemed to retain my sweat (l have terrible night sweats) and l felt hotter on them, not cooler. Thank goodness l didn't toss my very old set of sheets. Unfortunately, l am now stuck with a set of $140.00 sheets l cannot use. Really bummed out, and a bit more broke.

Wouldn't normally buy sheets from LLBean but had a gift card from a return and needed sheets so figured I would give it a try. Very disappointed. Very rough and scratchy!! Not comfortable at all. Will try washing a few more times, but will likely return. For the price I would have expected much better quality/comfort!

I purchased a duvet cover a while back in the same line. I am very pleased with the soft, smooth feeling of the duvet.
But these sheets are ridiculous. They are so rough they make a scratching noise when I run my hand across the fabric. And the color is dull for this line. And of course they are so very wrinkled after a wash and dry even with softener in the rinse cycle.
I don't want to wash sheets for years until they get soft, if they ever do. I want the sheets to give me immediate comfort.
I am going to return these.
I am sooo disappointed L.L. Bean!

This was my second set on these sheets. Adored these sheets when I purchased them however I'm very disappointed with the premature wear of the second set. The bottom sheet wore through in only a year and a half. The first set is still in perfect condition with longer usage. Considering the quality and purchase price I feel that the bottom should have lasted for several more years. Will not purchase again.

i feel ridiculous feeling so strongly about this / writing this, but i have never hated a set of sheets until these, haha. they are horribly scratchy, even after multiple washes...i've actually had to switch back to old pillowcases because i can't fall asleep with these ones scratching my face! when i first got these sheets i washed them and then had a guest sleep on them, before i had tried them out...i'm mortified that i made my guest sleep on such uncomfortable sheets! i bought them because of good reviews, but now that i look more carefully it seems like more recent reviews are negative...based on ll bean responses it does seem like these have been updated recently...i definitely do not recommend them in their current state.

These sheets feel like sandpaper! I wanted to return them but didn't want the hassle as I was just getting around following surgery. So I washed them thinking it would help. I was WRONG! Hemstitching at the top is even worse. I see "Pima Cotton" and think soft and comfortable. What happened LLBean? Yours sheets were once the best for the price. Can't believe I spent $149.00 for these. At this price point I expect much better. I can get softer sheets from the lower end, big box type stores for a fraction of the price.
Unfortunately they have been laundered, the packing disposed of along with the return stickers and I'm not paying to return them.
I was planning to purchase the flannel sheets next but now I'm not so sure.

The fabric is very soft. I loved the color. A couple of months ago I noticed that the fabric was fraying and getting very thin in the middle of the sheet. I purchased it at the end of 2016. I was disappointed that the sheet didn't hold up to the quality that I have always had with LL Bean.

I bought these because I am a HUGE fan of LL Bean's products but these things are very uncomfortable. I should have heeded the reviews that said they were rough but I figured based on the positive reviews and the rave report of a national Consumer Magazine the negative reviews were outliers, they were not.
PROS:
- They fit well
- Seem well tailored
CONS:
- Very scratchy even after washing, I made the bed, my wife ran her hand across the bed and said "NO"
- Price
- 2 versus 4 pillow cases as found in many sets

I grew up with ll bean cotton sheets and they were always so wonderful. These feel like actual sandpaper on your skin. Especially on the pillowcases, it's impossible to ignore the painful scratchy feel to the cotton. I am so disappointed and don't even want to use them.

I was very disappointed in these sheets. I washed them first and they came out a wrinkled mess. I have had percale sheets before that felt smooth and soft to the touch but these do not. I do not look forward to sleeping on them tonight. I will learn to live with them but not happy about my purchase which is something that I have never said before about L.L. Bean products...
