This is one tough bag. Bought as a gift. They don't give bags at the market in Fr. N handy if it falls in the river it'll float.........easy on the hands with shoulder strap. A little WD40 will fix any noise on the swivels Wish it was in black

Very well made, very functional, great design, but the hooks to disconnect (or reconnect) the shoulder strap is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to clear, as there very little clearance to unhook the hooks (you have to force them to remove them)

Nice bag that the small is a great size not too bulky but holds plenty. My only suggestion is to add a small interior pocket for small items

Bag seems well made, durable heavy material and comfortable shoulder strap, one issue I have with the bag is the zipper closure. It is impossible to zip open or zip close with one hand, you must grab the side of the bag somewhere with the opposite hand you are using to operate the zipper,in order to straighten out the zipper enough to get it to move. There should be an extension tab on each end of the zipper, holding the tab will help to hold the zipper in line to improve operation in either direction.

I love the Hunter's tote bags. I think I have eight of them. I use them for my work equipment that gets shuttled around in trucks and cars and they can really tolerate the unexpected like moisture and dirt. The most recent tote I ordered is slightly different in that you have added a detachable shoulder strap and have eliminated the plastic ring located on the former model on the broad side of the bag. I used that ring to attach an ID tag and now have to use the zipper toggle. I personally find the shoulder strap useless as the bags are filled to capacity and far too heavy to sling over my arm. I hope you will some day offer the extra large bags in black.

I love the Hunter tote bags and have ordered many monogrammed bags to give as gifts. I used to order the zip top bag however I've been disappointed in the new strap design. It's probably practical if you are actually hunting with it, but unfortunately it doesn't look nice. The new strap and its anchoring points are bulky and unattractive, not nearly as nice as the old design which was more streamlined. I'm afraid I'll only be ordering the non-zip version going forward which has retained the old clean lines.

I've been using this bag for about two weeks. It is a little too big for taking my stuff to work, so I ordered the medium size. The other problems with this bag may not bother some, but here they are: The shoulder strap is adjustable, but the buckle to adjust it is in the way of the padded shoulder piece. So, you either have to keep the strap a bit long or get it the right length and not use the shoulder piece. The other problem is that it has no structure on its own, so if you leave it unzipped and then you pick it up by the shoulder strap, the sides of the bag flare out or fall in, the bottom settles downward, and all your stuff shifts around, bottles fall over, etc. This did not happen with my LLBean Carry All Tote Bag. Maybe the way that one is made makes its structure stronger and more stable or something. Even if I zip the green tote, the stuff in it shifts all around. I don't know if it's just because it's a bit too big or what. I'll find out when I get the medium size one. The shoulder piece is comfortable but not quite "sticky" enough to actually stay in place--it doesn't actually sit on the shoulder. I don't know what to do about that. So, other than those two annoying issues, it's a good bag. I'll update about the medium size one when I've used it for a while. The large size is still enormous--maybe better for a weekend getaway. It's hard to tell how big a bag is just from measurements. If you can go look at them in the store first, that would be good.

I gave this bag only four stars because it has no external zippered/unzippered pockets like other totes have. If it had some pockets (for umbrella, headphones, small items you'd like to leave in the bag), I'd give it five stars. It's a great looking bag, better, and darker, than as shown in the photo on this web page. The strap is decent and has a nice padded piece on the removable long shoulder strap. The fasteners are metal, not plastic as some bags are. However, bags tend to get made more cheaply as production cranks up. I bought the Large size, and it is BIG! Big enough to easily put my lunch tote in it, shoes, water bottle, iPad or book, and various other things I need to take to work every day. I'm glad I didn't get the Extra Large; this is big enough. The large size most closely matched the dimensions of my older LLBean tote, which I thought was the best thing on earth. It has two zippered and one mesh pocket on the outside--HINT, HINT, LLBean!! If they added those pockets, I'd order another one. Yes, you could fit clothes for a weekend in this. I don't think it would fit under an airline seat but probably would be OK in the overhead bin. You can stuff a lot in this bag! I was surprised at how big it is. It is understated in color/appearance, but very attractive and with simple, clean lines. I debated the camo color, but this one is a little more conservative or grown up--however you want to think of it. A great bag, but it needs some outside pockets.

I wanted a bag for my young adult son that would be more rugged/boyish than the standard LL bean canvas bags (kind of preppy), which I love for myself. This one did not feel like those, the material felt different and the color scheme of two different greens that are both strange is not appealing. Years ago they had one that was a nice dark forest green and traditional canvas material; that would have been perfect.

Other reviews are so positive - maybe I had unreasonable ideas. Very shapeless looking. My monogram was hastily done with loose threads as well as the wrong color. Feels like a big waste of time. Will be returning and getting something from a retailer with a California physical presence so I imagine have a better idea of what it will look like in the real world.

It doesn't seem that easy to zip. Maybe with time it will 'loosen up' and work easier. On the plus side, it does hold alot. Not sure how much I will use it though. Should have opted for a slightly smaller bag.

Great bag, just ordered my 4th. I do wish it lasted linger but it's worth replacing annually. When I received my recent order confirmation I saw that part of my address was missing so tried to chat, got disconnected, called, and a rep told me she could correct my address. Then I got 2 shipping notifications, called again, and another rep informed me that OF COURSE the 1st rep couldn't change my order (how would I know?!) so actually she'd placed another order for me with my complete address. Why on Earth I would want that is beyond me. I got charged 2x, had to return 1 bag, and got stuck paying for shipping on a bag I DID NOT ORDER. I've always had good customer service experiences with L.L. Bean so this was really unexpected and unpleasant. It's unfortunate because I really like this bag and was hoping to continue to order it in the future.

love the color of this bag and that it is canvas however I wish it had an inside or outside pocket. Also I wish it had the ll bean logo on the bag since I probably won't use the strap.

I didn't like the material so returned it. I bought one from LLBean years ago that was made from waxed cotton canvas that lasted a really long time that I liked just fine.

This bag was a gift. It's good quality but the monogram was way too small and looks awkward. Such a bummer, especially for the price.

The size, zipper, color, and strap are great. The clip fasteners on the ends of the strap are hard to unclip making easy on and off difficult. The tote is heavier than I expected. I also wish the tote would stand up on its own. Because the tote is floppy it's not easy to quickly take things in and out of the tote.

I bought this bag for my husband for work and it seems to be a very well made bag. But it's beyond basic in terms of usefulness. There's no pockets or dividers. The brown color was also way less appealing in person than I'd hoped. Inside is a very thick plastic like material which makes this bag more of a luggage like bag than a computer bag. I had high hopes it might work but unfortunately between it having zero sturdiness or pockets it's really a weekend trip bag to throw your clothes in and go. Not worth the $70 for me.

This bag is very well constructed and would be perfect if it had a small zippered compartment on the inside or outside for keeping small items such as keys, pens, etc. Unfortunately these small items must be placed in the bottom of the bag making them difficult to find and makes the product less versatile.

I really like this bag and wanted to absolutely love it. Truly. I thought it was going to be it for me lol. Bc am so tough on all bags that I purchase. I work in the field of orthotics/prosthetics - so I am ALWAYS on the go and I am ALWAYS moving. While I am moving, I need to always be packing up orthoses/prostheses and am lugging from my office to where my patients go to physical therapy across the street; I am so tough on my stuff and should prolly be a tester of products lol. But anyways, this bag is SUPER durable - which is what I need BUT THE THING MAJORLY LACKING would be exterior pocket or pockets. It would be 5 stars all the way with some pockets to have the ability to place and organize all my stuff. Doesn't need to be a ton of pockets or anything elaborate- just some places to put my keys or my phone without losing it in the abyss. Based on the pictures, I thought it did have side exterior pocket(s) but am realizing it was just the illusion of the zipper flap. :( super bummed!

My experience is the shoulder strap squeaks with every step just like other reviewers mentioned. It's so annoying I am returning the XL bag. The squeak is challenging to locate but appears to come from the plastic swivel hinge of the clasp. The squeak is worse with more weight in the bag. The shoulder strap clasps are too long to release easily from the bulky plastic rings on each end of the bag. A prior review noticed this as well. Fortunately the clasp did not break as I expected, but wouldn't rely on it for durability. The strap must be nearly cinched all the way to get it to set comfortably on my hips at 6'0 tall when combined with the XL bag. The clasps fit onto a thick ugly plastic ring of sorts on each end of the bag. The plastic zipper is large and clunky, requiring two hands to use. The XL bag is roomy and holds all the clothes, food, and other things I want to tote with me from the house to yoga, work, and back. The bag appears to be durable and very water resistant. Ultimately just can't handle the squeak. Returning and looking elsewhere.
