Over all good but had to change the insole inserts as I got a blister on the sole near my small toe! I usually use Saucony and Nike and never need break in time. I gave the NB a go, I do 4 to 6 miles a day in Hilo HI and the Goretex is a must! After the change of insoles I am pleased overall.

I got this for my husband. He usually wears 990v5 8.5 EE. But need a waterproof pair for our trip. Based on reviews, I ordered 9 EE and they fit well. I took one star off because the color looks more purple than blue.

Fits well, reasonably lightweight shoes. They feel stiffer than most new balances I've owned before, both on the sides and underneath. Comfortable to wear and exercise in, either way! Gore-tex is keeping my feet dry.

Looking for wide hiking shoes with good traction and water resistant. New Balance suggested trying men's shoes to get width I was looking for. Unfortunately these 2E width aren't as wide as indicated and I had to return the shoes.

Cushion is very nice. Like the color, very dark blue. Upper parts seem a little stiffer than non gore tex version that I've tried on. Probably it needs some break in time.

They are not "waterproof". They are more water resistant than the mesh top sieves but far from waterproof. They fit a little small compared to other New Balance shoes I own but a half size larger might be too big.

I've bought various iterations of these trail gore-tex shoes over the years. This is a nice design, but the blue colorway(which I bought)has too much blue in it. Should have more black with the blue. I can't say anything positive about the green design. It's like all gore-tex NB shoes: Go a half size larger than what you normally use from NB. And, even though I don't have very wide feet, the extra wide NB(4E)always works better than anything narrower.

A shoe so good it never goes on sale. They call people who can afford these "well-heeled" for a reason.

Fit is generous (I wear 10 4E). I haven't experienced any rain yet to assess the benefit of the Goretex, but I suspect that at best it simply slows the water intrusion. It must come in by the tongue and lace holes. Mine are navy blue and the uppers are sort of speckled where the fabric and waterproofing are bonded. The soles have a "lip" on the heels that makes it very easy to pull the shoe off by using the opposite foot at the back. Laces are long so you have to knot the bow when you tie them. I am happy, not the prettiest shoe but they work well.

I tried just about every other trail running shoe out there, and the Hierro continues to be the best fit for my chunky feet. Only complaint are the color options in the Gore Tex shoe...super boring or ridiculous neon.

I have been wearing New Balance shoes since 2002 and I will never own any other brand of walking or trail shoe. Always true fitting and good performance from New Balance!

I have owned about 5 different versions of the FF X Hierro GTX and they are absolutely my go to everyday shoe from hacking around town to light hikes; with that being said this version V7 just feels different. I don't know if the materials are different or what but the it just feels more "plasticy" and the soles are loud. Overall quality just doesn't seem as good as previous and I would also say the fresh foam doesn't feel as soft or responsive. Good shoes but I feel like the quality in this version has regressed.

I use the shoes for prolonged dos walks on rainy days. I use it with orthotics. Even in 2e width needs some breaking, but there are not many options of low wide gore-tex sneakers on the market. I have high instep and the shoe tong doesn't cover all my foot.

For the price point these New Balance shoes feel cheap. I've owned several pairs in the past and none have felt as poorly made as this pair. The tongue of the shoes are paper thin and the laces are about as cheap as they come. The shoes also feel smaller and thinner than the same size NB I've owned before. Once you have them on they feel comfy and are lightweight and offer decent support, but for the price I would never purchase another pair.

They wore out in 3 months (6+ miles walking daily, occasional trails) - hokas last 5-6 months for me. Also I get blisters in heal from these. Hoka challenger lasts 2x as long and I don’t get blisters. The only thing going for these shoes is traction and stability - hokas are too mushy, even in trail running style. Overall these are not worth it, even if they are cheaper.

I actually returned these shoes. They had good reviews, and I generally like New Balance, but these didn't work for me. I usually like the comfort and wide width availability of the brand. These trail running shoes just did not fit properly. The support was too much, and/or in the wrong places for my feet. Back to looking for a size 15, wide width trail running shoe. Wish me luck.

I love the gortex and the over all fit. And I love the fact that New Balance has extra wide shoes. The thing I dislike is the tongue is always short. And it makes for an uncomfortable fit.
