I am very happy with this jacket. Recently I wore it on a chilly hike in the rain. You could say I was testing the waterproof-ness. It was 40 degrees and this jacket kept me warm and dry. The water sits on top of the jacket but shakes off easily. Also the smoke bluff color is very nice.
I got an xs, for reference in am 5 feet 4 inches and weigh 115 lb. I would probably like it more if it was a few inches longer but thats just because I like to cover my bum.

IMO, this runs a half size smaller than the Atom LT (or just Atom, as they call it now). I purchased it in L and was able to wear it longer than I could wear my Atom LTs once I started losing weight, but now I'm selling it as I've lost more weight and it's too big. I'd be in the market for a smaller size, but the colour selection is so limited and disappointing right now. It feels as though Arcteryx is moving in the direction of trendy blah colours like rust, beige, etc. Bring back blues, greens, purples, etc. This jacket isn't even offered in navy!

Just buy it! I had the LT version but found it wasnt quite warm enough for my cool weather adventures. Just spent a week hiking Sedona and Grand Canyon to test this out and it was incredible! Warm without being hot and totally wind proof. I love the green color as well. Thank you Arcteryx !!!

I bought this serve to bridge the gap between an insulated Arcteryx ski jacket and the Atom for days on a bike commute between 0-5deg. It works well for this purpose with the Beta AR shell. I also bought it to wear immediately after cross country skiing when waiting out in the cold for the bus etc for which the Atom alone was insufficient. This jacket serves well for that purpose as well. It is small enough to fit in my bag while on the trail and take out after to keep me warm. My only gripe is that the S is far too big. It runs way bigger than the Atom and my other Arcteryx jackets which are all S.

The colours of the heavyweight version are so blah and boring. I have black but wish there were more colourful options like the regular Atom. I like that this one is a little longer than the regular Atom and obviously warmer.

The Atom is a staple jacket in my collection. This will be my 4th Atom jacket. I live in Chicago, and it gets me through MOST the winter. It is light weight but very warm. It packs easily, and the quality is unmatched. I sold back two of my Atom jackets to upgrade to a new color.

Ive owned a couple of these over the years and find I rarely look at any other mid layer as an option when deciding what to wear. A great jacket for almost all conditions.

Warmer than expected! I run cold and wear multiple layers no matter what I am doing. I wear the regular Atom Hoody in the warmer months (which I love), but it was not warm enough for me in the colder months. I was concerned when unpacking that this jacket would not be warm enough either due to it being too thin, but I was wrong. The heavyweight Atom hoody is warm, and I now wear fewer layers to keep warm in the colder months.

I bought this late spring and only have worn it a few times but it instantly became my favorite jacket. Finally the weather is cooling down so I can start wearing it again. Its light weight but very warm. Perfect for the cooler day activities! Great quality and great fit! I continue to recommend this jacket to anyone who asked.

This is a versatile jacket for lots of activities. I will definitely get a lot of use from it walking dogs, xc skiing, etc. The green color I ordered is beautiful! It is pretty boxy fitting, and seems to run a bit large to me. I ordered medium, and almost wish Id gotten small, but I can layer under it this way! Great overall, light but warm!

I owned three and will be acquiring another color. This is the best all round jacket! Its light, comfortable and keeps me warm and dry. The only jacket you need. I always get a compliment every-time I use this. It is pricey but its worth the investment.

My wife bought the jacket after I bought the same jacket in a mens. She loves it. The protection from the elements is excellent. The room provided in the shoulder area allows for good range of motion without the jacket creeping up the back. This is our second purchase from Arc'teryx and the customer service, shipping with updates has been the best. We will be purchasing more gear and clothing and will be a longtime customer.

I got the fuchsia as a midlayer for skiing on single digit/teens (F) days, and it has been perfect under my shell. I love the high neck-it allows me to tuck my face behind (up to my nose) so I don't need a separate gaiter, and the insulated hood easily goes over my helmet so I am toasty on the lifts. It also works well as standalone coat on windy 30s days in the city.

First off the fabric has changed. Very different from fabric in past Atom jacket. Secondly- the pictures do not show it but on receiving it, the under arm area is a very different color from the jacket. Its a faded color from the bright raspberry color. It looks like your deodorant bleached it. Not sure if the colors are that different in color but its very noticeable. I would not have purchased if they either described the color variation or pictured the difference. It also runs larger than past Atoms. Im 165 pounds (36B)and in the previous Atoms purchased a large. I should have ordered a medium. In the Atom Vest I wear a medium if that helps in sizing. I hope in the future Atoms they do not put in a underarm pattern piece in a different color.

After being so very happy with the lighter version of the Atom Hoody, I liked for a warmer one with the same look and features. Not so sure of the colors available in my size, I chose the one that looked like a gray/tan color. It arrived today and I am 150% pleased with the fit, the warmth and the color, which is a light mint green, a very soft and pretty color that can be worn with blue, black, brown etc. The hood is bigger than I will ever need but overall the fit is perfect for any other layers worn. The zippers are worth noting as superior functioning.

I like this jacket, but I don't love it. I have issues with the hood and the front zipper. First, the hood. It's pretty big, I'm guessing to accommodate a helmet, but I'm pretty sure if someone is engaged in an activity that requires a helmet, this isn't the kind of jacket they're going to wear. Also, the adjustment cords for the hood are in a weird spot in the collar, and every time I try to adjust the hood, the jacket unzips. The grippy ends of the cords are kind of small and not very grippy, and a couple days ago one of them slipped through my fingers while cinching the hood and the elastic cord zapped me in the face, which kind of hurt. Not ideal.
Back to the zipper. It doesn't lock, which maybe some people like, but it unzips way too easily for me. My Atom LT unzips easily as well, but at least there is a little bit of resistance - the zipper on the heavyweight jacket offers very little resistance.
On the positive side, the jacket keeps me warm when I'm out at night and not moving around much; I believe it keeps me warmer than my Cerium LT with a shell over it. I bought this jacket expressly for that purpose, so in that regard I'm happy with the purchase. I also like the color, moonlit, which looks better in person that on the website.

I bought this before a winter trip to Sedona, where it was rainy and in the 40s. It was perfect paired with my Beta LT shell in heavier rain and handled drizzle well enough by itself.
Improvements Id love to see:
- I do wish the pockets were bigger, both the entry size and the pocket size.
- The zippers all feel very weak- they slide down extremely easily. Several times I had my chapstick and wallet fall out of the inner chest pocket if it was left slightly open and I bent over for whatever reason.
- I chatted extensively with the store folks about this when I bought it but I just cant see the face fabric holding up against one wrong move on desert rock (Joshua Tree boulders, forget it.) For the price and intended uses, I hate that I feel like I have to baby this thing.
- Inner hood adjustment elastic strings seem pretty useless. Wish theyd constructed these the same as the Beta, i.e on the outside of the hood. There is nothing to keep them in place once you adjust them, a truly confusing decision given Arcs attention to detail. Genuinely wondering if the one I bought is missing some hardware here?(???)
What I love about it:
- the updated fit. Just perfectly sized for layering. Not too hourglassy.
- looks cool.
- due to its lightness and thinness and warmth, it is an excellent layering piece for NYC winter- I can wear it under an oversize lighter coat or jacket for a less athletic/outdoorsy look. This versatility pushed me over the edge on buying this.

Wow first off, the feeling of using the zipper on this jacket is like none other. Amazing zipper quality! So silky smooth. Zipping it up brings me great joy. I bought a large. Im 57, 140, and 28/29in waist. Love the fit of this. Somewhat baggy but I was going for that. Its still super light but also warm. My first atom jacket and I think I get the hype! Would buy again.
