Looked really really big on my feet. This is a BIG boot. The part around my calf was very stiff and uncomfortable

When I took these out of the box, I was so happy with them. They look great! Exactly what I wanted. They fit great BUT, the leather around the top is really hard and stiff so I found them to be too uncomfortable to wear. I had to send them back. I am ordering the Pascal Virginia and hoping they are as cute but more comfortable.

The boots were too stiff to even get my foot in without fully unlacing the laces. Super cute but I don't have the patience.

Honestly, I wanted to like them. My daughter has a pair (different style) that she loves. But these were so hard and stiff going onto my feet and the amount of time and probable discomfort to get them to be broken in just didn't seem worth the effort. I had a similar feeling about some Blundstone's I bought--still not broken in after 5 years. Anyway, I decided on a pair of Borns which went on easily and didn't need to be broken in at all. Felt great from day one.

I have broader-than-average feet for a woman, so these seemed like a good bet. However, my feet aren't larger in all directions, and while great in the width, these were too big in the height, leaving my feet feeling a little lost inside. Moreover, I have slender ankles (yes, my feet are a sight to behold!), and these didn't quite hold onto them. As Dr Martens doesn't make the style I'm hoping to replace anymore, it's back to the drawing board...

Super weird. I ordered some and hoped I could use with my custom orthotics. They came and the insole wasn’t removable. So they were too tight with my orthotic. I returned and ordered one size up and the pair that came did a have a removable insole, so now they were too big with standard insole taken out and mine installed. They also fit weird with both the insole and my orthotics so I returned both. Wish I could try the smaller size with a removable insole but there’s no telling if it would be removable or not.

I wish I could write a better review. I've worn Docs daily for over a quarter century. And in that time, as with so much in life, I've seen decline. These boots, while they have the same style and the same initial comfort, do not have anywhere remotely near the durability they once had. Back in the 90's, I owned two pairs. One got me through high school with daily, hard wear. One got me through college. I retired each pair when the waffle simply wore out and the soles turned wholly slick. They were never retired for poor manufacture. They never fell apart. They never broke. They retained their style and charm. Over the 2000's, though, despite my daily wear getting lighter as I got older, they wore out more and more quickly. I'm not down to each pair lasting me about 12 months of a desk job and light weekend wear while I run errands. And all of this while the prices go up and up and up. A pair of black nappa 1460's cost me about $104 10 years ago. My latest pair (April 2018) cost me $154. That's a 50% price increase for about a 50% durability decrease. The typical problem I have is that layers of the sole de-laminate. They crack apart and insole padding starts slipping out. (Just this morning, a colleague and I were chatting and he mentioned the pull tag coming right out of his part; his being only about a year old.) Decreasing quality and increasing price is, in a word, unsustainable. I buy them out of habit, but the decline has me, sadly, looking elsewhere. It's tough to be a loyal customer--if not devotee--when you feel repeatedly screwed by poor quality. This may be my last pair of Docs.

I've been wearing Docs daily for a quarter century. The 1460 is still comfortable, still looks great. My beef is that they simply do not last like they used to and the price keeps going up. Looking back over our (mine and my wife's) Zappos order histories, the 1460's are 50% more expensive over the past decade. Meanwhile, each successive pair lasts a shorter amount of time. In the 90's, I think I bought two pairs of Docs that lasted me the whole decade (my teens and twenties). They went through hard wear. I'm now older, slower, and work a desk job and don't put these through nearly as much on weekends. Yet on each pair, the sole splits apart between layers after about 10 - 12 months, tops. Stretching out each pair gets harder and harder each time around. I don't want to change up my brand. But if this pair doesn't last... I just may have to. tl;dr: Still a comfy, good-lookin' boot, but it'll only last you about 10 - 12 months of every day, light- to modest-impact wear.

Color: White Smooth Size: UK 11 (US Men's 12) Width: Medium Honestly I did not try these on so I gave full stars for comfort. Just viewed them outside of the package and thought there is nothing feminine about them. They just look like ice skate boots without the blades. I know these are popular but not my style. Returned.

These shoes look great and offer excellent support for my feet. I have plantar fasciitis and my feet feel wonderful in Docs. My only complaint is how quickly these shoes wear down. I'm trying to stretch them to a pair a year but realistically I'm about ready for a new pair every four months. The leather's pretty good if you take care of it, but I really wish Doc Martens sold replacement outsoles.

There is a seam that runs along the top of the shoe that cuts into the top of your foot (front of ankle). It would be a great shoe with the exception of this. It is extremely painful! Don't think it would be possible to break in, seems like a defect.

For people commenting on the poor quality, Doc Martens have not been the same since they started making them elsewhere. One can still order boots directly from the original manufacturer and get better quality but they cost more.

Great color and quality but way too big! I am not going to return them since I have already worn them on the farm, thicker socks will suffice. They are very comfortable.

These shoes are very stylish and fashionable. They look good if you have joggings or skinny jeans that you tuck inside of them. But the shiny stuff that is on the shoe will get scuffed and scratch. But don't worry Dr. Martens makes a patent leather spray that fixes it.

These boots are nowhere as shiny or as marbled red as the photo. They arrived looking like a darker oxblood color rather than red, near black. On the upside, they show red on creases and scratches. Sizewise, they are seriously wider than expected. I bought the proprietary insoles and still had to put in my old orthotics and wear heavy hiking socks. Not a bad boot, will be great in winter.

The fit and style were fine. The Chinese made DM 1460s felt cheap. The leather was thin with no lining or the kind of attention to detail you'd expect from Docs. I sent them right back. In my opinion they were not worth the price being charged.

These did not look at all like the picture - harder leather, no suppleness to it. They were also HUGE even for someone like me that often wears DMs. Ordering a full size smaller than usual, and in a different material.

These are not the same Dr. Martins that they use to be. My feet hurt so much that I cannot wait to take them off. I stopped wearing them. I now have very expensive paper weights. Wearing Rockports for comfort. I miss the old Dr. Marts. Must have bought 15 pairs over the last 20 years. Never again.

Wear a size 11, ordered a size 10...very tight fit. Should have gone with the 11 (US). Also, shoe looked cheap...leather felt like plastic...not the quality of Doc's I'm used to back in the day.

Ordered the cherry red smooth. Striking color. Unfortunately, even after owing them a few years, they are still stiff. They squeak when I walk and I get bad blisters on my heels.

These boots were an odd mix...the left boot pretty much instantly felt fine, but the right one was a nightmare at first. The instep was really tight and felt like a clamp on the top of my foot. I finally got it loosened by jamming a jar into it over a few nights, and also using a wet towel helped stretch it. The bottom part of the inner shoe (the part your foot is on, inside the boot) started to move a bit too, and wrinkled near my toes. I was able to pull it back but I don't think it's going to stay put for very long. Again, the left boot fits fine and has none of these problems. If my right boot felt like the left, it would be 5 stars across the board. The leather is a lot thinner on the upper than I would have thought, but the boot is very lightweight and comfortable. The soles are very nice too. Right now the boots are comfy, but I have doubts about the overall durability of them, especially the one that had the foot sole/insert thing move on me. We'll see how it goes.

I bought my first pair of Doc's back in 1996 in England at the Dr. Martens Store in Covent Garden. I wore those boots to death and have never found a pair of boots more comfortable then those (save for my Keen Brooklyn's). However I think I bought the wrong size back then (after about 9 countries and very bloody heels, which loosened up after about 2 months) because after buying my first pair since then. But I continued to where them for another 10 years before giving them up. I have found that I am one of those people that truly fits a size between the US7 and US8. It's true that Docs fit about a 1/2 to a full size bigger than usual...I wear size 9US/8UK in everything. I'm torn because I love these boots but the UK8 is a lot looser than the UK7...and the UK7 is very tight over the width and top of my foot. It's odd that the difference between the the two sizes is so drastic. So I'm torn to return both or just keep the UK8's and get an arch support to ease the loose-ness of the boot. They are really great boots, I just wish they'd make them in 1/2 sizes.

My husband has always loved Dr. Martens boots and was very disappointed with the fit of this pair. They run large by a whole size, but more importantly, they are poorly constructed. Specifically, when tying the laces, it is impossible to tighten them to adjust the boot to the foot because there is an overlap of leather. Also, it is awkward that the heel is not well supported.

Much like other posts from past Doc wearing individuals, the quality is going down having owned multiple pairs over the years. I had a pair of Green 1460's from 1994 and they were removed from closet by my now wife in 2006. They were in rough shape but were still serviceable, at least I thought so. Green was discontinued but when they came back, I jumped at the chance - with a few issues. The color is not dyed through the leather like the older pairs or the blue. Significant because if they scuff it is noticeable & apparent vs blended. Biggest issue is sole separating from bottom of the shoe. Quality has gone down but Zappos customer service is still top notch to make up for it.
