Please design the shoes like the original Altra toe shaped shoes. After this company was bought out; the design team have done a terrible job. Give people option of either the original wide toe shaped shoes or a normal sized shoe. I used to run with Altra but moved to Topo shoes. Design team rethink your process.

Have owned dozens of Altras over the past 6-7 years and love them!. Bought these at the Altra outlet in Utah and within 3 days the soles were coming apart.

I've ran and trained in altras for over 7 years and never had issues with sizing. But this shoe was WAY too small. (Same size I've been ordering the lone peaks in). Terrible trail shoe since you run mostly in the front of the foot. Can't even use them for walking/hiking. Would not recommend.

Have owned a few pairs of Olympus 4's, Olympus 5 is the worst designed and fitting shoe I've ever purchased by a huge margin. After 6 straight pairs of Altras my next pair wont be altras.

I am one of the many Altra die-hards that have loved the original footshape and wide, roomy toe-box offerings in their trail shoes since their early days, but like many others, see that fading away. The last couple of wider models were the Olympus and Lone Peak which seemed to be the only ones hanging on to the original customer base, but both of them have gone more narrow despite the 'original footshape' designation which has caused me to look for a new brand after buying over 25 pair of Altras over the past 5 years. Altra seems to have either switched manufacturers or has abandoned their original customer base in favor of more widestream appeal and understandably, pursuit of revenue growth over a smaller target market. The 'original footshape' and zero drop customer base that built the brand will move to Topo or another brand that still has a truly wide toe-box shoe. The Olympus 4 was still wide enough, but the 5 has gone the way of the Lone Peak 4-7, more narrow and no longer in my closet.

In redesigning the 7, they made the toe box shorter. Now my big toe rubs the top of the shoe. Between the quality issues reported and this fit, I hope the 8 goes back to what was good on the 6.

Long time altra fan, but these are the worst altras I have worn. Too narrow, they cut in to my ankles no matter how loose I lace them, and the cushioning does not compare at all to prior versions. I wouldn't recommend these to any runner or walker.

This (see pics) is after only 150 trail miles on pretty easy terrain (bend oregon). I have worn ultras for 8 yearsunfortunately I will have to switch up brands as durability keeps getting worse. Too much money for such low mileage. (I'm 6'2" 180 lb for reference)

My second pair of Olympus 5's. First pair lasted a few hundred miles. This pair had soles delaminate within 30 miles of trail running.

I warrantied a pair of OLY5s after under 200 miles due to quality. The second pair broke in under 60. Soles literally falloff that quick! This is truly a disposable shoe due to quality.

Like many many many other people have commented in these reviews, the outstole started delaminating right away. Initially it felt easier to buy a tube of shoe glue to try and fix than to complain to Altra. What are they going to do, send me a new pair where the same thing happens? Refund me? Then I'm still without my favorite shoes. But the problems with the sole glue are so severe that shoe glue doesn't cut it. As soon as you glue one section down, another starts to delaminate and the shoe glue only lasts for so long. Judging by how many people have made this complaint, it's an obviously a big problem, and Altra should stop selling these shoes until it's fixed and then clearly state somewhere that it has been fixed. Otherwise it reads like it probably is: a calculation that enough people won't bother to complain that it remains profitable to keep selling through the inventory even while appeasing the people who do complain. Altra should cut it's losses and remove these from the market to try and preserve it's reputation. Otherwise I'm sure competitors like Topo Adventure would love to move in on Altra's dominance of the natural footshape max cushion market.

Over the years, specially since VF purchase ALTRA I have experienced a lowered quality and durability. The co-molded lugs under the ball of the foot peel off and have become a tripping hazard. I had to cut my tread off mid use. I loved many other factors of this shoe, but if the primarily benefit and functions fails....then its not use

Had my Olympus 5's for less than 2 months and they soles are already coming apart! The vibram rubber part has become unattached from the foam. This is unacceptable seeing they are supposed to be a beefy trails shoe. And for how expensive they are I expect them to last way longer! I haven't worn them in water or anything like that, just normal walking and some hiking. They are very comfortable so it sucks they aren't good quality.

Unfortunately I must say that my last experience was not very good. Bought 3 pairs the mon blanc has got an insole issue that comes out while running and my Olympus 5 has had its vibram sole un glued after the 2nd use . Very sad .

I've really tried, but these just don't work with my feet. On rocky trails I tend to roll my ankle like never before with these shoes. They seem to be very unstable. Also, the inner edge of the outsole tends to hit the ankle of my opposite foot. Maybe the shoe is too wide or maybe it's because the lugs of the sole stick out a bit. But whatever the reason, it's bad enough that I get a bruise and swelling on my inner ankle and the ankle collar has been sliced open. I'm also suspicious that the unpadded tongue is pressing on the front of my ankle causing some of the foot pain and swelling. Whatever the reasons, all my foot problems went away when I stopped wearing these shoes.

I am a size 15 who has worn Altra Olympus and Lone Peak for years, for running, trail, and packing. These Olympus are now a half size too short, the volume of the toebox reduced to the point of tightening over my metatarsals, and the forefoot width too narrow. We have seen Altra sizing drift over recent years, toward this direction. No longer just frustrated, I am done and must look for other options. What made Altra distinct, what worked so well for a natural foot splay and zero drop, is gone. If Altra wants to start making Altras again and stop chasing the designs of other brands, please let us know. Whatever you do, do it with a consistent vision and quality.

Have worn the Olympus forever and loved them, especially since all the other Altra shoes are too narrow. Wore these for an easy 5 mile hike to check them out and developed a blister the first time I wore them. Really disappointed with Altra shoes recently. Trying to find a new brand. I was drawn to Altra for the "foot shaped" fit, but you have abandoned your original fit.

I loved how these fit. Plush feel with the big soles. Except the heel padding started to tear before I had 100 miles of light day hikes on local trails. Now the treads are falling off at 170 miles.

I've owned the Olympus 4 and they fit perfectly and were comfy but all of the Altras I've ever owned (3 Lone Peaks and 3 Olympus's) only last me 6 months as an everyday shoe; (walks, hikes, camping) My most recent Olympus 5's have already started to come apart after a month of light activity. The insole and the outer sole start coming unglued after a month or so. I've already started the warranty process. I love these shoes because they're light and very comfortable but they need to start using a more durable material and their shoes need to start lasting more than a couple of months or I'm going to move onto another brand.

Olympus 4 is perfect for me. I have two pairs. Olympus 5 is narrow, and the laces are too short. They feel small. I will try a size up to see how that works.

Ive owned every model of Olympus, some multiple pairs. On a thru hike attempt of AT in 2021 avgd 500 miles for three pairs. The first pair did all of NH and Maine. The roughest part of trail. The soles kinda worn but still good. The second pair Have 200 miles of AT fom Springer to clingmans dome 200 miles and about 200 road miles and everyday wear. Still good. Third pair have 165 AT miles springer to fontana dam. They are falling apart. Sole delaminating and uppers worn heavily. I do not see them lasting another 165 miles. They are way to tight. I have to basically leave the laces as loose as possible to prevent them from hurting my feet resulting in a floppy fit.. The hard toe protector is gone. A big negative. There is no way i can recommend the new version. New Hampshire and Maine will shred these on the granite. Altra, why continuously change the good designs you have? Ive owned timps, olympus and lone peaks from various years. The early models were bomber. The new models seem to change without regard to performance and result in less of a shoe. It's a harsh review but born from experience. They are too expensive for this low quality. I'm sad that i have to search for a new shoe. Bring back the original olympus. The maroon amd grey. Bring back the green timps. The two beat shoes ever made.
