I don't normally write reviews but I love how the design of these hide the laces because I have tripped on many laces before! The tread is great and I've enjoyed these for both desert and mountain hiking(:

These boots have a rugged tread for grip and are really warm without sacrificing weight. I love the feeling of them underfoot. They are pretty roomy so I use thicker socks with them. I've tested them on snow, ice, and mud. They perform well with all terrain types!

My girls walk and hike a lot with our dogs. These are by far their favorite light hikers. Great shoe, great service! Thanks.

I got these boots recently and as with all Salomon boots that I've tried, I was able to hike with these without any "break in" time. They are extremely comfortable and have great grip. I used these in snow and the traction was incredible. I had no slipping, and my feet stayed warm and dry. I'd highly recommend these.

These are extremely comfortable warm and water proof. I get compliments every where I go for the great snow hike style. I have three pairs in green, blue and mauve burgundy color.

I recently got these and love them right out of the box. No need to break in, supportive but lightweight. New favorites for hiking.

I seriously wore these right out of the box and on the trail and they were amazing! I usually never need to break in a pair of Salomon's and these were perfect as well. Lots of stretch but great for keeping out the snow and wet terrain which I loved. Loved the ankle support.

I love the design of this hiking shoe! I have the first Cross Hike version and I'd say, in comparison, this one is a more narrow and true to size. Some other Salomon shoes run a bit bigger. You will not need any time to break these in, and you can take them on any terrain. Highly recommend!!

These shoes are amazing for winter hiking! My first hike with them was along a river and I was walking on ice, along the edge of the river in the freezing water, and doing a bit of running to stay warm, and the shoes were great for everything. My feet stayed totally dry (and relatively warm), even walking in the cold water. They're also just super comfortable and light, which are both huge pluses.

Extremely waterproof my feet stayed dry and warm in 30 degree temps, wet snow and mud. They provide great traction on every surface from wet roots, muddy leaves slick rocks and snow and slush. I was confident in my footing to keep up with the dogs and left the trail with my feed as warm and dry as when I started!

I have enjoyed wearing my new Cross Hike 2 Mid Gore-text boots. As someone who is flat footed, these hikers provide fantastic support. There is ample cushion, and a great standard insole already in the shoe. I generally try to choose a shoe with ankle support, and this shoe provides plenty. A bit higher than my old hikers, but I think the extra support will be helpful. The toe box has extra space and good for wide feet. I have bunions, so I appreciate that. I definitely think this is a better shoe overall than the original cross hike because the fit of the overall shoe is more accurate and does not run as large as the original. I am excited to put more miles on this shoe. So far so good!

After wearing the tread down on my original CrossHikes to next to nothing this year, I was due for a new pair. Lucky for me, the CrossHikes 2s are even better than the original, and I wasn't sure how or if that was possible. The main difference I am noticing is the support around the ankle seems to me more sturdy than the original CrossHikes but not to the point of being restrictive. I'm a big fan of these shoes and recommend them to anyone who is looking for the grip of the Speedcross with a bit more support around the ankle and goretex protection.

This is the shoe I grab when it's wet, muddy, snowy, or variable. The big lugs are super grippy and dig into those conditions well. I love that this shoe is so incredibly light but also offers some ankle support. A boot that doesn't feel like a boot! The fit of this shoe looks streamlined and is fairly huggy to your foot however there is still great room in the toe box. I'm a typical women's 8.5 and these fit just right. If you own trail runners and traditional hiking boots and want another key arrow in your hiking shoe quiver, this shoe gets my vote!

I bough last year's model and so appreciate the "cushiony" feel of the footbed. I teach art on a concrete floor all day and these boots are perfect. I love the green/orange/brown color combo offered this year and bought a pair. Lovely, yes, but gone is the springy/bouyant/cushy quality. Where do you suppose it went?!
Have a most beautiful day!!

Have a doggy biz so walk a lot and am on my 4th pair of similar Salomon hiking shoes. Still love them but this time went for more ankle support / coverage and the tongue seems way bigger than it needs to be, and in fact protrudes a bit. Not a big deal but seems like something y'all should know. Oh, and I especially appreciate are how light water resistant and spacious they are (especially since I tend to get blisters and have an hereditary proclivity to bunions).

Bought these as a winter alternative to my Speed Crosses. They're very light weight, 100% waterproof, and a good height for a fresh dusting of snow. (Heavier snow does tend to get packed to the bottom treds but it hasn't been much of a problem this winter. Will have to see come spring if the same happens with the mud - I don't have problems with the Speed Crosses in the spring.)
I wear a wool sock with them to retain heat, without I probably could have downsized a half size - I find I have a bit of heel slippage with a thinner sock.
I know these are a mid - a hightop version of the Speed Crosses - but if they were a touch higher or had 2 lace holes at the very top to help keep the tounge snug up to the front of your ankle that would be awesome.
I would 100% buy again.

I overlooked the speed lace feature and struggle every time I put them on. They are too long, the tuck in feature doesnt work and I cant get the tops tight enough to support my ankles. I do like the soles of these boots, good base for muddy, rocky trails.

Very light weight and nice looking hiking shoes. Soles are more on the hard side, not as flexible as expected.

This is based on initial impressions only. The original Cross Hike is a much more comfortable shoe out of the box. This is at least partially due to cheap (NOT Ortholite) insoles in the Cross Hike 2. See attached image. As someone who has never had to replace standard insoles, I don't appreciate the additional, unexpected expense on a pricey pair of boots.
Also, the Cross Hike 2 feels narrower around the ball of the foot, although they look to be the same width on the outside. The Cross Hike 2 is slightly longer than the original.
I'll probably keep these, but I wouldn't buy them again.

Very comfortable, lightweight and good quality. Very pleasing design and sole has great grip. I did return a pair and purchased a half size bigger to give me more toe room and so it wouldnt be as snug with socks on.

These cross hike 2 do not fit like my cross hike. Im very disappointed with my purchase. Ive been wearing Salomons for over 10 years. Im going to try to find another pair of cross hike, if not Ill wait and see what the cross hike 3 will hopefully be better.

I bought this few weeks ago and I feel confident enough to run in the trails. The shoe feels a bit warm as all goretex. I like the the quick laces and the mid length for ankle support.

This shoe is great for casual use on walking trails, dog walking, or just a day out and about. They are comfy right out of the box are are definitely true to size (I am consistently a 7.5 US). There is plenty of wiggle room in the toe box, which I appreciate very much and there was a little pouch in the lip of the boot to stuff the super long strap/lace into. They are also pretty water-resistant and dry quickly in the event they do get wet. The downsides of this shoe are, that you can't control or customize the laces for a more tailored fit, and the durability and dependability are questionable for seasoned/frequent hikers or multi-day backpackers (although they are super light). Ultimately, it depends on what kind of performance you want out of your hiking boots and what you plan to use them for. I wouldn't recommend taking these on a serious tip (like a multi-day national park adventure, anywhere with lots of elevation, or on any slippery rocks) but easy to intermediate hikes should be just fine.
