Wrong size

I usually wear 8.5 in most shoes, but Hoka sz 8 is perfect. This is my 2nd pair of same style in 2 months, 2 colors. These sneakers offer not only comfort but stability. I've noticed that a lot of people in jobs that require standing wear these. I did insert Powerstep insoles for extra comfort. The insoles that come with the shoes are very slim. Very happy w/ Hoka-one of the few brands that are made well and worth the money.

I have arthritis in my big toe joint, and I recently recovered from a metatarsal stress fracture — my podiatrist recommended shoes with a rocker bottom and rigid soles. I am an avid hiker and waterproof shoes are a must. After reading the reviews, I felt like I was taking a gamble, but I couldn’t be happier with these shoes. I have relatively narrow feet, and I can put my custom orthotic in without taking out the original insole and this shoe doesn’t feel too tight. I usually have to remove the original insole and just use my orthotic, so being able to use the original insole is quite nice. I wore these out in the rain and stayed warm, dry, and comfortable. Time will tell if they hold up, but so far I am delighted with these Hokas. As a reference, I also love the Hoka Carbon X3 (a little bit tricky to get on, but SO comfortable!). I also have a pair of Clifton 9 shoes, but I have to take the original insole out and just use my orthotic, and the shoe is a bit too snug (I got a regular width) so I have to wear thin socks to be comfortable. The Clifton 9 also flexes more than the Carbon X3 and Speedgoat 5 GTX. I hope this helps others with arthritic feet or metatarsal issues who need stiff-soled shoes with a rocker bottom.

I was going on a trip to California and there was going to be a lot of hiking and walking involved. I have a pair of clifton 8's but I was worried about the sole and gripping. I went out on a limb here and purchased a pair of these even though they were crazy expensive. Right out of the box. They felt stiff and different from the other. Hoku that I was used to. I thought there's no way these are going to work on my sensitive feet. I started wearing them around the house every day for a few hours. Actually there was zero break in time. They just felt different but not once did they hurt my feet. I took them to California with their goretex lining. I walked more on the California coast in one week than I ever have any practically brand new pair of sneakers. I have to say these are the most impressive pair of shoes I've ever worn. I wear them every day now. I love the fact that my feet don't get wet. They have that extra sole for gripping. The only thing I'm not jazzed about are the ugly colors that they offer in this shoe. The only one that was bearable was the black ones with the red. They really need some nicer colors. Not everybody wants crazy feet. Other than that I have to say it's the best sneaker. You won't regret the purchase. I just hope they last a year because I have a pair of cliftons that are a year old and they're already worn out.

This is my second pair of hoka trail running shoes. I use them as my hiking shoes and they get lots of use. Many of the color patterns are too bright for my taste, but these dark green shoes look sharp.

Fantastic fit. Color is closer to forest green. Matches my college color.
