I have been a Hoka fan for years [5 pairs of Arahi, 3 Speedgoats 1 Hopara] and while I never thought the tread life with the softer sole material on the speedgoats were ever anything to be blown away by - this latest pair I bought after less than 2 months of walking only is already showing excessive wear - super disappointing for a shoe at this price point. I think I have bought my last pair of speed goats if they keep that outsole the same.

I am a woman who has moved into the men's version of the Speedgoat as I needed a bigger shoe. I have a 10.5 Wide in the regular speedgoat but there is no wide option in the GTX version. I would love to see this offered in the GTX as well as it seems side sizes are much more limited in any of the GTX shoes. I need shoes with wider toe boxes.

This is my third pair of the same exact model. The issue is they no longer fit. The size they mfgr changed. How is that even possible? Anyway since Hoka was bought by Decker the quality went way down. So at foot doctor's suggestion just switched to NB fresh foam. BTW Hoka customer service is now as bad as their shoes.

I love the ORIGINAL Speedgoat 5 - that was the shoe that convinced me to change from another shoe I've been wearing the past 15 years for hiking, walking, adventuring, working, etc. and after walking 50 miles in a week with a heavy backpack in Glacier NP. I'm a believer. I bought the Speedgoat 5 GTX shoe this week in "all black" because I need an all black shoe for work, the gortex is a plus. However, these are not the same shoes as the original speedgoat 5 shoes. They don't feel as comfortable, the back heel sits up a little higher than the front, feels real blocky, and my ankle area sticks out of the shoe more, meaning it doesn't fit INTO the shoe like the original. I can already tell I'm going to have blisters hiking by the way it rubs. Would you please make a Speedgoat 5 shoe GTX without changing how the foot fits into the shoe, like the original? Make the exact same Speedgoat 5 shoe in GTX. It's such a successful shoe. Why would you change how it fits? Merrell has been successful with a certain shoe, they've basically sold the same shoe for the last 15 years and every year I would buy a few pairs, but the Speedgoat 5 changed converted me over to you. Also, you have 11 colors to choose from in the original Speedgoat 5, but NONE of them are in all black? Why? You only have an all black shoe for the GTX and it doesn't even fit the same. I love Hokas and have 4 pairs at home I bought in the last year, 2 solimar white for all around walking (very comfortable for everyday use), and 2 speedgoat 5 shoes. The GTX is a let down, but hopefully you can make an all black shoe in an original Speedgoat 5 and also a GTX speedgoat 5 that fits the same as the original. I would buy at least 2 per year for another 15 years. Hoka has something good going, and hopefully they can update this issue.

I wear other size ten Hokas but these run way too small. Returning them and not interested in another size. Looking for a better day hiker shoe.

I have had this pair of shoes for a week. The bottom of the shoes is already coming apart. Paid too much money for a pair of shoes for them to be coming apart in a week. Very disappointing.

They look red and black online - they are orange and black. These are being returned.

I bought these at Eastern Mountain Sports 2 months ago after going through 2 pairs of Hoka Speedgoat 4's over the past few years hiking in New Hampshire. I loved the 4's so much, I didn't hesitate to buy the new model 5. What a disappointment. Please, please, please bring back the 4! The water-proofing membrane on these 5's is akin to wearing a colander on your feet. The 4's waterproof membrane lasted for at least a year and half. The other unfortunate problem with the model 5 I bought is how awful they smell and retain that smell after use. My 4's never smelled like these. My family walking by them when they are on the ground even comment on the stench. Please bring back the 4!

I was very disappointed that Hoka would not honor me the latest sale price after I recently purchased a pair of Speed Goat 5 GTX. I purchased these just before they went on sale. I tried to contact Hoka without any luck. Hoka kept reporting a wrong address even when I typed in the correct address several times. Something is not right. Any reputable company would have honored me the sale price after I just bought the same product at the regular price a week before.

If you owned the original Speed Goat, you'll immediately notice that heel cup is completely different. I'm wearing a pair of the Original Speed Goats in black with gold trim as I write this review, and heel cup is much better than the new ones that I purchased. New model heel counter goes straight vertically from the sole and never actually forms a heel cup. There's really no comparison. The heel cup on the new ones pretty much does not exist. My older Speed Goats fit the whole foot front to back, with a great heel cup feel, the new ones just fit snug around the forefoot, no heel cup at all. I DON'T expect HOKA to redesign this shoe, because that would be admitting that they made a mistake. If you've been buying HOKAS for a few years, then you'll notice that their design is changing on many of their models to what I can only describe as a heel stop, unlike past years where there was actually a cup. If this design is what HOKA is moving to, then after years of buying literally dozens of pairs of HOKA, then I'm done with HOKA, I won't be buying anymore.

They felt like the most comfortable shoes I've ever bought, then they got wet, noww they rub on my toes and can't be worn. I wouldn't think they would shrink, but they fit great until they got wet

Had ~80 miles on my SpeedGoats, just bought in January, took them on the Teton Crest Trail, and the sole rubber glue wore off, forcing me to cut off the rubber bottom grip layer to finish off the hike. Very disappointed in the sole durability here, should have a longer life than that. I'm a hiker too, not a runner, just wear them on trail around Seattle and the Tetons. Can't recommend if the shoe doesn't last more than 100 miles.

After hearing great reviews from my son in law, we decided to try Hoka! Waited 6+ months to give review. My husband has worn these shoes on our 2.5 mile daily walk on gravel roads. We were really hoping we too could give a review! We were really hoping they would hold up. They have not. Treads are almost totally worn down. Wow. It's amazing that you can't get a year worth of use from a nearly $200 pair of shoes. Will continue my search for a shoe!

The gortex doesn't stretch and the shoes are very tight. I'm mad, cause they don't come in wide.
