I am 58 years old, very active, with bad feet. My feet have been abused, beginning with the old USMC combat boots from the 1980's, from long hours on cement, in heavy steel toe/met guard shoes, in extreme heat of a steel mill and from neglecting to care for my feet. I have spent hundreds of dollars, trying to find a warm weather shoe, that I can wear all day and remain comfortable. It's been 3 weeks in the Anacapa Breeze Low and I am a Hoka fan. My feet feel much better, I am not as fatigued and the quality of these shoes is exceeding my expectations. They breathe, my feet sweating is greatly reduced from GTX shoes and the shoes dry much faster than GTX shoes. The footbed is cushioned, not soft and delivers a spring like return. They provide excellent stability on loose or off camber terrain. I ordered the Mid style yesterday. I will update this review in 2 months.

Here are my criteria:
. Good cushioning but not as bouncy and many Hokas
. Great ventilation (for very hot weather)
. Great stability
. Quick drying/not waterproof
10/10 on all counts. I could not find ANY other sneakers that fit this bill. Don't hesitate is these are your criteria. Also, as comfortable as any sneaker I have ever had (and I'm 74).

Picked out my first pair of Hoka's, the Anacapa Breeze Low and love them! Very stable and comfortable. I have foot pain and these are a tremendous help!
I am already looking at other Hoka's to add to my collection. I find the run 1/4 to 1/2 size small. I am usually a men's 10.5, but the 11's fit well. Maybe because they are designed to be a tight fit for runners? I just use them as a speed walking shoe. Get some!

Got a pair of the competitive brand Br@@ks after extensive waking, not running they began to tear . Saw these on the web site and they are extremely comfortable. Got many compliments on the look too. Just bought the boot version. Will arrive soon.

I was worried after reading reviews about sizing.. color and other issues. And as usual, the color did not match the pictures shown. I ordered these in the Dune color combo. And was HAPPY to discover these were far less "brown" than pictured! They were more "driftwood" in color (light earth tones). As for the fit? I could not possibly be happier. Many claimed they were narrow but i found them to fit spot on with my usual order size. Im also glad that i ordered the "breeze" version as they are lighter in weight and the mesh construction allows them to breath very well (whereas the goretex would have retained more heat). The traction is spot on with what i was looking for in a walking/trekking shoe. Although my primary usage is for work wherein i need to wear tan color pants as a necessity and/or hiking, where i usually wear railriders or craghoppers trekking clothing also in earth tones (I know..im a boring color coordinator), they look great with jeans and everyday clothing. These far exceeded my expectations with color fit and function. My only concern was that one of the shoes came with a white sticker emblazoned with a red arrow upon it; on one of the shoes. Hopefully these were not a previous return or defective in any way. I highly recommend these for trail walking, street/park walking, beach-combing, lifestyle etc. One of the biggest pluses i have to mention is how with many shoes, one of my feet (being slightly smaller than the other), occasionally slips at the back causing blisters. And this shoe, on the other hand, has incredible achilles tendon support to prevent such problems. One of the only shoes ive ever seen with such targeted cushioning in that area. My only wish is that Hoka might come out with an all tan version such as the Unisex Bondi L model they made two years ago. Those would make them absolutely ideal for work. If one expects to use custom orthopedics consider half sizing up. Although,I bought my usual size and had no trouble with inserts.

Nice shoe. Have only had them about a week but so-far really nice. Fit is excellent and I have lousy feet. I over pronate and it appears to have enough support. I am about 6 ' and weigh about 175. Feel like wearing a sneaker.

My Anacapa Breeze Low are great right out of the box. I expect minimal "break-in" time. The laces are a bit thin, but I trust they will be fine.

I have flat feet and if I do t get good support, I get bad plantar fasciitis. This is a good show to help me with that. I purchased the same size as my old ASICS. Fit just the same.

Have switched over to this shoe from the Salomon Ultra 4 (the new style of the Salmon is so rigid and uncomfortable). This shoe has been put through several multi day backpacking trips and my feet rarely if ever felt uncomfortable. The traction and shock absorbency are solid. This shoe is especially comfortable for those of us who suffer from ailments like Achilles Bursitis.

Bought them for my hubby and he absolutly loves them. He finds them lightweighted, rubbery that when he walks he feels that he wont slip. They are cushioned as well.

Originally bought these for walking and hiking, now these are my go too shoes for everything. Recently helped out on a construction site, feet were comfy all day wether working on concrete, gravel, tinned and shingled roofs where good grip is essential.

I got the Hoka Anacapa Breeze Low shoes for hiking and love them -- they are the best hiking shoes I've owned. They have a fantastic sole that is very grippy -- on gravel, rocks, damp grass and mud. On inclines, they do not slip at all, which gives me a lot of confidence with my ascents and descents. The shoes themselves are very comfortable and well-cushioned -- I can readily do 6-8 hour hikes in them without chafing or discomfort. They are quite breathable, but one should note that that they are NOT waterproof, so one needs to be careful not to step in puddles of water or they will get wet (there is a GTX version if one will be stepping in water). My only negative is that the shoes are slightly snug for me, so one should try both the regular and wide versions and then make the choice.

Have done some long hikes with them. I added a carbon fiber insert which I think is an improvement for uneven ground

I love the colors. The materials are high quality, these should last a while. I wear these everyday for work and hiking especially. I have the recovery sliders I like kicking around in at home and around the pool and stuff. Honestly these are my favorite shoes from Hoka yet.

Started my Hoka experience with Clifton 9s, which are about the most comfortable athletic shoe I've ever worn (and I have worn many over several decades). However, the Clifton soles wore through pretty quickly so I purchased the Anacapa hiking shoes for durability AND comfort. While not as cushy as the Cliftons, the Anacapas are quite comfortable and offer the vaunted Vibram soles for expected durability. Great combination so far. May take these to Africa in the autumn.

I'm a 61-year old speed hiker, who does a 5-K and 1,200 ft. ascent on a rugged SoCal single track about 5 days a week. I've had nearly all the HOKA trail runners and love nearly all of them. My current favorite (other than the colors) is Mafate Speed 4. These are my first pair of trail hikers and they're awesome. I can't decide which is better the MS4 or the Breeze....I'm thinking for me (190 lbs. or so) the Breeze may just win. Wow! They seem very durable, including tread. I'm my same 11.5 size as the trail runners. (As an aside, I tried the Anacapa 2 GTX and I had to size down to 11.) They're fast up and very good down (surprising)....and no ankle roll, good grip, no aches and pains or soreness in my right achilles or left knee tendon!!!! And I don't have to "shop for terrain"....I can put my foot anywhere and not get hurt. My trail is pretty rugged....lots of rocks (loose, buried, big, small, round, sharp), roots, etc. Lastly, some hikers have commented they don't like that the Vibram is not in the middle part, for greater durability. I disagree....I think this is key to these shoes being so fast and nimble and perfect, relative to a traditional hiking shoe. mikep. p.s. Before I purchased these, I saw a woman about my age on the trail wearing a pair of mid Ancapas and I asked her how she like them. She said, in a very English voice, "I am besotted by them." Me too!
