The slate was not a beautiful charcoal heather . The cables were beige and the sweater was dark gray. It was so busy and dizzy that I knew at once I did not like it. I loved the perfect fit (just the right length with super stylish zippers at the hem. The neckline is low and will need something underneath for winter. You better be cold blooded because this is a warm sweater.

Lovely sweater- I have been wanting this style sweater for many years. Finally went for it. Zippers are a 'cute' update, but I would rather not have them. Unnecessary and destracting design detail on an already beautiful sweater.

This is more of a sandy beige than a makeup beige. Looks great with white pants. Zippers tend to open on their own. Arms are slimmish. Me: 5'6" 150# 40-32.5-39.5 I ordered size medium and with anticipated shrinkage (cotton) and stretching b/c of weight afterwards, it was the right size.

Beautiful sweater but way too long for short person. I ordered a petite sweater it comes down to my knees, I am 5:2.

I expected this sweater to knock my socks off based on the reviews and the high quality everyone raved about. This cotton sweater felt a bit scratchy when I first put it on. It has gotten a little better with wash and wear, but I have bought higher quality sweaters for half this price! It also pulls easily and the black hangs onto every speck of dirt you come across. The length is good, but the whole things feels boxy for a tunic and those zippers on the bottom do nothing for me (or the longevity of the sweater). Next time I'll pass on this one.

I purchased the navy blue in size XS. The color and style are good. I like the length and the zips on the side, and definitely got the right size (5 feet 5 inches, about 128 pounds, athletic build). I could layer this over a t-shirt, maybe even a tank + tshirt, but probably not a button down as the sleeves don't have a lot of give on the upper arm, particularly if you are more muscular. However, I didn't like the material. It's 100% cotton which is stated in the description, but it felt very stiff and scratchy. Not a huge deal, and maybe it would soften with wear and washing, but it didn't feel like the kind of sweater you could snuggle in to keep warm on a rainy day. I think I'm going to send it back. Maybe something in a wool blend would have been softer.

I have been eyeing this sweater for a couple years and finally got it. I wanted the cream, but due to my impatience (cream on backorder) I went with the auburn. I love the color! I am 5'3", weigh 145, and I am busty. I am mentioning that I am busty because my boobs make the sweater blouse out making me appear a tad wider than I am. Its not enough that I won't wear it but I wish that it was more fitted. This sweater would be more flattering on smaller breasted persons, imo. I ordered a small and while I do plan on keeping it, I think an xsmall would fit better on me. I agree with previous reviews about the neck hole being odd - it seems stretched out or something to me. I've been wearing a tank under it which looks fine. A scarf is a great solution too. Ultimately I like it and I am glad that I ordered it, but I see where some of these reviews are coming from. It's worth a shot if you want this sweater.

Gorgeous tunic sweater. I'm 5"11 and I love the length. It does run pretty large though. I got a L and it's huge.

Sweater is great quality, will last for years. The neck is too wide though. Looks odd with a turtle neck underneath because it shows so much of the fabric on the shoulders, and a crew neck undershirt doesn't work. Luckily I have a scoop neck long sleeve shirt that is a little too large, so that doesn't show at the neck when I wear the sweater. Zippers on the side make the sweater fall a little odd on the hips, I would prefer if they weren't there.
Really warm and good looking - just frustrating that wearing a shirt underneath is an issue.

I was very hesitant to purchase this sweater because I have not had much luck with LL Bean sizing in the past and they do not offer free returns. But I took the risk and ordered the XXS after being told by customer service that garment measurements were 33 inches at the bust and 34 inches at the hip.
The sweater is beautiful and comfortable, but HUGE. I do not know what sweater was used to generate the measurements I was given, but the XXS that I received measures 37 inches at the bust and 37 inches at the hip. I was going to suggest that LL Bean should follow other online retailers by providing garment measurements for their clothes, but it will only be useful if the measurements given are actually accurate.

I really wanted to love this sweater. The quality is excellent, and the black cherry colour is rich. I am 5'1" tall, with long limbs, so, the sleeves on petite sizes are always too short. The Double L sweaters inn xs are comfortably loose, so, I bought this one in xs. It is enormous! I was lost in it, the neckline gaped, and it managed to make me look bulky.

I've bought 6 Bean sweaters, always medium and all fit perfectly. I was excited to get this sweater on sale and couldn't wait to try it on. It was enormous and reached nearly to my knees. The weave and quality are both beautiful so I'm returning it for a size small. I'm 5'6", 122 lbs. so small should fit me better.

I purchased this sweater last winter and just had it out last weekend when the weather turned chilly in the evening. I love the heavy weight, color, length and drape of this sweater. It looks great with skinny jeans and riding boots. It's also simply a fashionable, practical addition to a Vermont winter wardrobe. My only small complaint about it is the size of the neck hole. It's too big, which makes the neckline look sloppy if I'm wearing a crew neck underneath it. I counteract this by always wearing the sweater with a scarf or turtleneck, and that does the trick. But I would have given this one five stars if the neckline was the same as the neckline on the original, signature fisherman sweater.

While this is a beautiful sweater, the sizing is off. I am 5'8" 165 with a large bust, I normally buy tops in size Large to compensate for my chest. I originally got this in a Large and it was HUGE!! Like entering XXL territory. Decided to return it for a Medium based on other reviews and I have to say, it's still bigger than I would like it to be. I'm sticking with it (hoping it might shrink up a little in the wash) because I just know the Small would be too small.
The quality is great and the side zips seem really durable. This sweater seems like it's gonna last a long time and with its classic styling it's a great investment (especially if you find it fits you the way you like). Regarding the comments about its weight - it's heavy, but drapes nicely because of that weight. It is a fisherman sweater after all.
The last thing I would point out that might add any relevance, if you are very short-wasted this may not be a great choice for you.

I liked the overall look and fit except it was way too long. It did not come in petite length so I had to return it.

I am 5' 5" 145 lbs and bought the Medium size. It fits well and the weight of the cotton is exceptional. The sweater is made very well. Mine came with two stains on the back but I just sprayed Shout on them and washed it as labeled and no sign of them now. It does show any rolls you may have so be aware of that and the neckline is wide as though made to be worn over a collared shirt or turtleneck, but extra bulk underneath doesn't allow the sweater to lay nicely.

The sweater color is gorgeous (I got the purple/pink) and it's a heavy, warm sweater. I also love the small side zipper detail. The one drawback is that it can't be thrown in the dryer and, given that it is heavy cotton, it takes days to dry.

I received the beige sweater as a gift. It looks great with leggings and I've received several compliments on it. It is very warm, which is a plus living in Boston. I gave it 4 stars because the neck is rather large - not a deal breaker - I just wear a tshirt underneath it.

I felt this ran large but is also oddly short for a tunic. I ordered my regular size and it just lays like a regular sweater, not really as long as I wanted (I am only 5'1"). It's supposed to be slightly fitted, but it seems a tad baggy/bulky and because it's such a chunky knit it doesn't look as good as thinner sweaters I wear baggy.
Overall it is amazing quality and looks beautiful but maybe just not on me. I have only worn it a few times but I expected this to be my "go-to". Guess I'll keep looking.

Don't be discouraged if you think the sizing isn't big enough for you. I wear size 1X Women's Plus, but this sweater in size Large fits me perfectly! I love the tunic length, too, because I am tall, and I have a long torso. (So much of L.L. Bean's women's clothing assumes we have short torsos, but not this sweater!). The one thing I did NOT like about this sweater is the zippers on the side seams. The first time I wore this, I tried to take it off over my head, with the zippers open, and the teeth of the zipper snagged some of the stitching. Please don't make that mistake! I brought the sweater to my tailor, and had her cut the zippers off, and sew the seams back up, over where she had cut. NOW the sweater is perfect! Hey, L.L. Bean, how about making this exact same sweater in wool, like the men's fisherman's sweaters?

Because of other reviewers, I sized down (5.8" and 130 lbs) and bought an ex-small. Because of my height, the arms in the sweater are just a tad short for me--because I like them over my wrists. I washed the sweater and stretched out the arms, then let it dry flat; the yarn feels almost like cotton string, and does have some give, so my experiment will probably work. Not quite as soft as I wished, but I'll keep it because I like the way it's a tunic but fits with a better silhouette-I don't look like a big beige square with black legging legs.

I ordered both the man's and woman's fisherman sweater. The man's sweater was made of lighter, softer yarn with a tighter knit. This sweater is a little bit stiff and a little heavy. It will be good once it is colder and I can put a cami under it, because the weave is loose and lets air through, so it isn't warm unless I'm moving. I got a lot of compliments on it, though, so it must be flattering. It wasn't quite what I expected as far as the feel of it, but I'm hoping it improves with age.

I have this sweater in same size navy with floral yolk. Love the fit and quality so ordered this one. Fit is snugger and quality of the dye color is not good. Looks faded or "rubbed."

Sweater is a bit big and baggy. I am regularly a medium at LLBean. Surprised by the side zippers - it would have been nice if they featured this element more prominently in the photos. I would not have ordered it.
