The fabric quality is nice, but I wish you had better color choices. I actually like the men's colors better. Wish you had lighter colors...lavender, orange with light green stripes on cream background, light blue plaids, light hickory/pecan, pink/grey plaid, etc.
This shirt is labeled "petite," but the sleeves are still ~3 inches TOO LONG. But at least the sleeves are roomy when bending my arm. And I like that I can wear it over another shirt and still be roomy enough to button without being too snug.
So (1) offer better colors and (2) shorten the sleeves for a petite shirt.

This shirt is great on first fit, but after one wash on delicate and even with air dry, this shirt shrunk in length. This is my main complaint overall with L.L. Bean clothing for women. I see this repeated in the comments as well, so you may know that shirts for women can't stand to lose any length at all as they already run short. After one wash, my sides show when arms are raised. This is supposed to be relaxed fit and sit low on the hip, but it doesn't hold after even the best washing care. I love this shirt's quality, but I hate that I can't wear it now unless I tuck it in and wear it under something else.

This shirt was a disappointment. I bought a similar relaxed fit shirt last year and it fit beautifully. This one had no shape at all. I weigh the same and have the same measurements as last year but this shirt just didn't fit well. The only good thing about it was the nice soft flannel material. I returned the shirt.

I liked the shirt but the color was not like in any of the pictures (online or in print). Customer service was not very sympathetic or helpful. I kept the shirt but every time I look at the color I will question my decision. Need to shop at the store instead of on line.

Disappointed,as I chose this shirt upon consultation with a customer service rep. I normally wear an XL in Bean's tops. Couldn't button shirt, and sleeves were very long. Ordered it to replace a previous flannel shirt. Also dismayed that I had to pay for return shipping when I'd taken the time for a consultation.

I loved everything about this shirt, but the sleeves were way too short. :( I am 5 7' and about 135. I wear a size 4 and have a small bust-34B). I ordered XS. It fits so well except for the arms. I have had this problem with other brands, and usually find that the tall version fits. There is no tall option for these shirts. Please consider this-the arms are just so so short on me-I really need longer arms! Thanks!

I didn't see a link to update my previous review so I'll send this one. While I still love the fabric I'm concerned with the quality of the workmanship in sewing these shirts. I ordered another flannel shirt in September and just wore it this past week. I didn't notice right away that the front of the shirt didn't match. After I washed it and was putting it on a hanger I took a good look and sure enough the right side of the shirt front is about 3/4 inch longer than the left side making the plaid not line up when the shirt is buttoned. On all the previous shirts I've had, the plaid doesn't match on the side seams and I was able to deal with that. But this shouldn't happen on a quality shirt. For the price of the shirt the quality control should be better.

I have the Colcuhoun plaid. ( My husband has the Stewart). Mine has been washed twice - and its already pilling and has stiffened. I loved this shirt when it was brand new and soft. I do not expect 100% cotton to pill

I've bought these shirts for years, in every color. Best flannel shirt for women I could find anywhere. But I just now chatted with a salesperson and asked if model in the current catalog has a button-down collar (doesn't look like it in photos), like every year in the past. It does not. For my money this is terrible. One reason I have always bought this shirt is for the button-down collar and now it is like a camp shirt. What a disappointment.

The other day I wore last year's version of this relaxed flannel and I realized how much better it is compared to my new flannel shirts. They fit about the same but the open collar of this year vs button-down of previous is terribly uncomfortable and cold. I have to constantly tug on the collar to lift it and close it. I hope that they won't make this style ever again. I'm not a trendy person who is trying to look sexy in a plaid flannel. For me these shirts were always about comfort, warmth and outdoor classic traditional style. It seems that LL Bean is trending more toward expensive tacky vs classic good taste which sends me looking for good quality and style elsewhere.

Ordered womens 1x and it was too short in the front when buttoned. I have a large bust :( so it just didn't work for me. I thought it would be fine since it's the relaxed fit. If you have average to small bust it will probably be fine. It certainly was very soft.

My photo showing slightly fitted vs relaxed didn't post in my last review so reviewing again and reiterating need for XXS slightly fitted.
In the photo the right-side seams are lined up exactly, coins for size comparison are Sacagawea dollar and nickel.

I've been buying these shirts for years and have learned that I need to buy early in the fall because they are completely sold out after Christmas. Today I went into the store and to my surprise the shirts no longer have a buttoned down collar! What a disappointment. I like the button down collar because it looks neat, even if I don't iron the shirt. Given they are always sold out, I guess others do as well. Fortunately, a customer service person found one in the back for me with buttons. Please bring back the button down variety!!

I have two LLBean Scotch plaids in XXS, one slightly fitted and one relaxed. Although the difference does not appear to be huge in the picture below (nickel and Sacagawea dollar for scale), the slightly fitted one is so much better for me. You can't really tell in the photo but the wrists are also slightly narrower in the slightly fitted, which give the shirt cleaner lines overall.
LLBean, I will give you my money so please bring back XXS in the slightly fitted shirts!

This shirt is HUGE. Though the photos don't completely do it justice, it makes me feel like I am wearing a blanket with holes for sleeves. The body is way wider than normal relaxed fit shirts, I expected straight sides to give a rectangle shape but received a bona fide square instead. The sleeves are roomy enough for me but I can't image a person who fills out the body would be able to fit in the sleeves.
I do appreciate the quality of the flannel. It is a medium weight I can already tell it is very warm and ideal for fall. The fabric is pliable out of the bag and isn't stiff at all. The pattern, though garish on the website, is not nearly as overpowering in person.
Returned for the slightly fitted shirt.
I am 5'0" and 125lbs.

Bought this shirt last year. Bought a new one this year. This year's has 5 buttonholes; last year's had 7. Super disappointed and annoyed. The gap between the buttonhole on the collar and the next one down is very, very long.
The fabric and fit is fine, but I would never buy this (or any other) shirt again if it only had 5 buttonholes.

HAVE 2 TARTAN PLAID WOMEN'S FLANNEL SHIRTS. THE FIT WAS FINE BEFORE & AFTER WASHING. THE MATERIAL WAS BEAUTIFUL BEFORE WASHING BUT DISAPPOINTING AFTERWARD BECAUSE OF PILING. I MISS YOUR WOMEN'S "CHAMOIS" SHIRTS.

I was so happy to see a fitted shirt in flannel! Unfortunately I am unhappy with the fabric quality. Though it is soft to the touch and well made, this shirt is pilling and I have not even worn it yet! (I wash everything new before I wear it the first time)I have owned lots of flannel in my years- it is not the 'nature' of a good quality flannel to 'pill". So I will keep it but hope Bean will offer a higher quality fabric next year. Still love Bean!

Considering the price, fabric is not too substantial. Fits well, but not much flannel or warmth. Good for putting over other clothes/layering.

I love the shirts warm flannel fabric.
And the cozy plaid pattern.
However, when I washed it in warm water and hung it to dry...it seems to be now a size smaller.
The sleeves & shoulders are too small.

A size Medium from LLBean has always been the perfect fit for me but for some reason the sleeves on this shirt are a full 1.5''-2'' too short. Hikes up my arm when I lift my arms to reach anything in front and its an annoying feeling.
Material thinner than what I expected of a real cozy flannel shirt

I loved this shirt and wore it constantly when I got it. It's thick and warm and cozy. However, when I washed it for the first time, per the instructions (I washed in cold water and low dry), it shrank almost a whole size. I am so disappointed by the shrinking! It used to be my go-to cozy shirt and now it's more of a fitted dress shirt. I would recommend not drying it, or buying a size up!

For the first time ever, I am very disappointed in the red checked shirt. I wanted the one that looks Christmassy but that's not what I got. The photo shows blues abd greens with the reds. What I got was black with the red and I will be returning it. When I ordered it, it said 'limited numbers'. I guess I won't get a Christmas shirt and I' afraid to try ordering it again as I'd probably get another 'ugly shirt'. The quality looks to be ok, but the color isn't. Too bad.

I was so happy to receive this shirt. The online description said "machine wash and dry" so I washed it, cold water, delicate cycle, with a few other items, then put them all in the dryer. The shirt came out all pilled and looked as if I'd owned it for a year!! I checked the label and it says, "Machine wash, tumble dry low." I'm so disappointed, as the shirt was so nice. I liked the roomy, but not too long, cut. It shrank some after machine drying it at regular temperature, yet it still fits because of the roomy cut. When it arrived I really liked the soft material. It's not a super thick flannel but it felt very cozy and warm enough. Even with the pilling and slight shrinkage it's a well-made, comfy shirt but from now on I'll line-dry it. I realize the mistake is mine. If a clothing label says, "tumble dry low," I wish LL Bean would state, "tumble dry low" in the online product description. I recommend this shirt but only if you machine dry on low or, better yet, line dry it to preserve the fabric quality.
