Really nice flannel shirt. Flannel is a little thick but it will keep you warm. I wear a 2x and it was really too small and short. Usually 2 x is big but not this shirt. It's more tailored. Please make them true to size. Thanks.

The good: nice fit, great material, beautiful colors. The bad: plaids don't match. If I had paid half for this shirt, maybe I wouldn't make a big deal, but it is so sloppy and cheap looking when the plaids and stripes don't match. It wasnt too bad on my Rob Roy shirts, side was off a bit, but the Smith shirt... nothing matched. My previous two shirts from ther last couple years matched great. So sadly they are going back. I'll try again next year.

I don't think I've ever written anything but a wonderful review for my purchases at LL Bean. This is a different story, though. I ordered this flannel shirt because I have another one and assumed the fabric and workmanship would be the same. Not so. The first wearing I kept wondering why the flannel was emitting little fuzzy bits everywhere. The fabric was shedding everywhere! After washing, I didn't notice more fuzzy bits, but the shirt looked like it had been worn for years. While the plaid is different than my previously purchased shirt, I don't understand why the quality of the fabric isn't the same. Disappointed.

Other reviews were right in that this flannel shirt is extremely soft. And I think that the fabric is excellent quality. However, I was looking for a fit that was a little bit more flattering. I started out ordering a size small and it was a little too big. So I ordered the extra small and although it fits, it's too short in the torso and the arms. And the overall look is very boxy. The size small was also a boxier fit. I just prefer something that is a little more flattering on a woman's figure.

Loved the bright colors and the comfortable fit. Much longer then expected from LL Bean's description so I sent it back. The length fit me like a tunic which I do not care for. I had ordered a shirt so was disappointed.

This shirt has a large plaid pattern which was not flattering on me. The plaids did not match at the side seams and was really noticeable. The deciding factor for returning it was the size. It was really large. I usually wear a 2X in Bean clothes and this was bigger than most. The sleeves were too long and overall fit was too large. I didn't try washing it to see if it would shrink to fit.

It's an ok 100% cotton flannel shirt; bought it because it said it's made in Portugal. Doesn't say Portugal anywhere on the tags, but it does say El Salvador! I'm Portuguese and I know the difference in the fabrics. Why advertise it as such?

This is a nice shirt. The flannel is heavier than I was expecting but that's OK. I like flannel shirts to be very large and this is nice and roomy. I haven't washed it yet but there is room for shrinkage. But my complaint is the color. I bought the Scotch Plaid which, online, is a bright purplish-blue with magenta stripes running through the plaid. In reality, it's a verrrry dark blue with red stripes. It looks like a very dark and very dull version of what is shown. It's a nice shirt but the color is very disappointing. I picked this color because it was bright and cheerful. What I got is very dull.

I bought two relaxed fit size extra small flannel shirts for myself right before Christmas '19. The Stewart Victoria has remained the correct size and fits perfectly. The Black Watch color has shrunk to the point that I cannot wear it because the sleeves are too short. I'm not sure what is wrong with the Black Watch color but I will be returning it.

I've purchased flannel shirts from LLB before with great success. However, this time I was disappointed with the quality of the Rob Roy red/black plaid shirt. I first washed it and the dryer and filter were full of red fuzz. I shook it out and more came off. But when I wore it I found fuzz wherever I went. On the shirt I wore underneath and in the carpet. I've since then washed it 3 more times and while the fuzz is dying done, I still see specks here and there. Not sure if it's just this color or if they all have this issue.

This is a nice shirt, but I have to say that the flannel is not thick. I was disappointed. I have some older flannel shirts for myself from LL Bean with thicker flannel. This was a gift and ended up being too big for the person, so I returned it. I can't really say if it is true to size or not. (gave the gift recipient a LL Bean gift card instead.)

It's a soft beautiful cotton and I love the color and I will be keeping the shirt. However, I am a solid 3X. I have ordered clothes in 3X from L.L. Bean in the past, as well as other retailers. There's usually a little fluctuation, but I know it will fit. And yet, this 3X shirt, which is supposed to be a "relaxed fit" is tight in the arms and tight across the chest and doesn't look right when I wear it as a regular shirt. It will end up being an over shirt and not a shirt shirt, which is too bad. I looked everywhere online for this particular buffalo plaid shirt in soft cotton (not polyester or rayon or anything else), before finding this one, so I am disappointed. Again, I'm not returning it, because it will make a good over shirt, but I was looking for something more.
So, if you are a plus size woman or a curvy woman, I strongly suggest you order a size up from what you normally do for this shirt, unless you're into clothes that fight too tightly, which is not me. I want them comfortable. And I assumed that L.L. Bean knew how to do comfortable.

I have this shirt in 4 colors. The last one I bought online is horrible due to its color 'Royal Stewart Tartan'. It is an extremely dull, faded and old-looking color. Looks like it has been washed and bleached time and again. As I ordered it online from overseas, there is no point in sending it back, so will give it to charity over the holiday season.

Very pretty colors but like many recent Bean products for women, not as relaxed as previously. My older Bean button front shirts fit with an easy and ample feel. Not so this one. I can wear it like an open jacket but buttoning will be a stretch. Undecided if I'll keep it or pass it to a smaller relative.

love the weight & style of the shirt. But was disappointed by the amount of "fuzzy lint" the shirt leaves. Washed it three times in hopes of reducing the lint but will have to be careful when I wear as I don't want t to have lots of lint appear on my turtleneck!

This is a beautifull pattern. It is plaid and the plaids do not match on the side seams, arms etc. This tends to cheapen the shirt. I have not be pleased with the purchase.

I've bought two of these relaxed flannel shirts. I bought the first one this past summer (2019) and the second one a week ago. The first one has the plaid matching at the side seams. The second one doesn't. This is always something I look for with plaids, as mismatched seams drive me a bit batty. I assumed the second shirt would match as the first one did. Buyer beware -- I'm not sure if all of the shirts no longer have matching plaid at the side seams or if the second shirt I got was an exception.

I hate to leave a complain-y review but I do really love LL Bean and, like plenty of other Mainers, have a clichd desire for the way the company used to be.
I have an LL Bean women's flannel that I bought probably around 5 or 6 years ago that I love. Unfortunately, LL Bean has recently decided that women definitely want all of their shirts to be at least slightly fitted. I have a small waist and pretty wide hips so I get why so many women's garments are made like this but what if I want a normal, straight up and down fit? I can't wear men's because I am 5'3".
I get that LL Bean is focusing more on trends as of late, but I don't get why that means they need to change the classics. What about "it ain't broke don't fix it"?
(Also, based on what I've observed in the store, the women's flannel material feels somewhat inferior to the men's, at least when it comes to the scotch plaid shirt. The organic flannel feels more on par with the men's but of course that is a significantly higher price point).

I ordered this in "Relaxed Fit." After this item was delivered and after trying it on, I then saw that it's also offered in "Slightly Fitted." I hope that one fits better than the Relaxed Fit. The Relaxed Fit was very baggy, very long, and too sloppy looking on me. There is no waist shaping at all - it fit just like a men's shirt. This shirt needed waist shaping in the side seams, as well as darts in front & back. I wonder if the Slightly Fitted would be any better - the photos of the two look the same. This did fit way too big on waist, but fine on bust & hips. I had to return this, as it looked like a bag/flour sack on me. So disappointed.

I now have two identical shirts. I used the measurements on your site and it said I needed a 1X. I had a flannel I bought a few years ago XL but I went with the measurements on the site..........is.huge on me. I didn't return it, will wear it over other shirts and then ordered the XL and it fits perfectly. I love the grey in the shirt. Please work on those measurements!!

I purchased 2 more of these flannel shirts to add to the 4 shirts I had purchased about 4 years ago. I was extremely disappointed to find that the buttoned down collar has disappeared from the styling. Fabric and fit are still nice, but honestly I would prefer to pay more money for a detail like the buttoned down collar which makes this nice shirt look a lot smarter.
