I wear a M but bought a L to have roomy PJs. These are oddly sized. The bottoms were huge, like an XLT. I don't mind that. Hey, pajamas. But the top was small. Who is built like that? Not me. I would say the top might be a S or M size, cut boxy for PJs. The arms are narrow and the fit is rather tight. Not comfy at all for lounging. Like wearing a dress shirt for lounging. Also, not a lot of chest room for a woman. The flannel quality is nice. Too bad the cut is so off.

Love the flannel fabrics over the years, from the heavier weight to the very much lighter weight. Would be nice to see the weight of the fabric listed again so one knows what is being purchased. Huge differences over the years. Have worn L L Bean pjs for decades, but the last few years I've sent back products because the sides' plaids no longer match as they used to, sign of a top quality product...even in the pictured products the sides of the tops and bottoms don't match!!! So disappointing for the reputation of L L Bean. Just luck of the draw to get the better quality items.

Have purchased this item and the past and am a fan
This pair had to be returned because of a sloppy monogram. Had what looked like glue on it . I called to discuss and it seemed over the head of the cs rep. Hopefully reorder in mail does the trick .

The quality of these is great. They're soft and warm. The pants even have pockets which is a great touch. The sleeves are a bit short which I'm neutral on. On one hand they don't get wet when I wash my hands or get dirty if I wear my pajamas while making breakfast but on the other hand my hands and wrists get cold while I'm sleeping.
The big problem is the sizing. I ordered my regular size. The pants are huge. They're so big I have to cinch down the waist with the drawstring or they'll fall off, so much for a stretchy elastic waist. The top has the opposite problem. The shoulders and arms are undersized compared to the torso so I can't put my arms in front of me without the fabric being super tight. It's not comfortable to sleep in. Even just bending my arms at the elbow pulls the fabric. What is the current obsession with women's clothing having tight arms and shoulders. It's uncomfortable!
Please give us some room to move like you do with men's clothes. I know I didn't order the wrong size because of how huge the pants are and it's not that my chest is throwing off the sizing because I've had a double mastectomy and my chest it flat. I wish they sold these with the tops and bottoms separate. I might get the men's version in order to have normal arm and shoulder space although it'll mean altering the pants and shortening the top and sleeves. Argh, why did they ruin what would have been awesome pajamas with trendy sizing? Nobody is checking out my shoulder definition when I sleep. Just make sleepwear comfortable!

Love the black watch pattern & sizing but disappointed with the constant pilling of the flannel (even after several washings).

I ordered a large, thinking it would shrink, but it didn't. They are very soft and comfortable to wear, but they shed terrible. I have washed them several times and still get blue fuzz all over. And the lint in the dryer is so full! But I will wear them and if I order another pair, will definitely get a medium size.

The scotch flannel and Portugues flannel of your pjs the last 2 years pill horribly. I have several LLBEAn from 20216 that are great, never pilled and 4 years later, hold up very well. You need to change your buyer so they can wash the flannel a few times to see if they pill. I always shop LLBEAN but not sure I will get flannel pjs any longer from you if the flannel continues to pill.

I originally bought the size L but it swallowed me up. So I exchanged for a M. The bottoms fit perfect and the top was a bit snug. I am not big chested but seems to be a big difference between L and M. That being said I returned them, very begrudgingly because I absolutely loved them. Super soft and comfie.

Unfortunately the first time I washed these pajamas, a lot of LINT was left behind. It made a mess. I decided to give them a try anyway. I washed them a second time and the lint was a bit better, but the fabric remains pilled and looks worn. I am keeping them, they fit pretty good although a bit large, but I prefer that. I would not buy them again. I just feel that the fabric is sub-standard quality.

I rarely write reviews but felt the need to share my experience with these pajamas. I just received the pjs and have not washed them yet.
They seem well made and are very soft however, the sizing is hard to understand. The bottoms are two sizes too big yet the top is almost snug. I worry that if the top shrinks in the wash it will no longer fit!!!. Also, as I ordered the petites length I was hoping that the length would not be too long. I am 5' and the length is still quite long.
As I had them monogrammed it may be hard to return. Ordering another size will not solved the size issue. There definitely needs to be better quality control on sizes. This is one of the rare occasions that I have had such an issue with L.L. Bean.

I have two pairs of the Stewart plaid in the XL size because of my experience with the Black Watch size L. The odd experience for these Stewart pairs is that the pants itch like crazy no matter what detergent I have used, but by turning them inside out, there is no itching. I suspect that something in the weave itself has put the short stubs of cotton on the inside of them. The tops are just fine.
The Black Watch pair seems to shrink, even as I have lost ten pounds. Again, I believe that there is something in the fabric itself that is the culprit because the same thing happens with the Black Watch women's flannel shirts I have.
All are washed in cold water and dried on lower temperature, then hung out to get the collar and waistbands dry; I do that so the fabric stays soft and doesn't get "cooked," yet the Black Watch shirts become brittle. Very disappointing. I hit the "recommended" button because there's a lot of snuggly-feeling good in the Stewart pjs, not so much the Black Watch.

I received these pj"s for a gift. I like the fit and feel of the flannel, however there are very scratchy tags on them, tops and bottoms. I cut the tags as close as I could and still wake to scratch marks on my side. If I cut the tags off it would leave a seam opening. Dissapointed in these since I have an older pair that doesnt have this problem.

These jammies were so soft when I opened them that I couldn't wait to wash and put them on. I was so disappointed to do so, only to find that the bottoms were extra roomy and the top too fitted! If anything, I am larger on the bottom, so I found this odd. These are made for someone with a narrow upper body for sure. I was hoping that they would be big and roomy all around, but found them confining and uncomfortable. Sadly, they are going back.

I bought these for my wife who is tall and slender. I started with the mediums tall which was way too big. I exchanged them for the small tall but they are still too big (especially in the waist/hips). I have never had to buy my wife an extra small before but might have to exchange them again. I think LLBean is making the mistake that has been true in the past. Tall does not equate to size. Tall women are often slender theses days.

I purchased this as a gift. The fabric is a light-weight flannel, NOT the same fabric that's used in the men's flannel shirts. The pants are HUGE in the hips, although the recipient said they fit normally in the waist. She said the top fit well. (She has narrow shoulders). She chose to keep them.

I need a medium top and extra small bottom. I compromised and ordered size S and it was much too big. The pants were much too long and would have had to be altered. Even though the quality was excellent, I returned the pajamas.

Tried on the small and the medium, but due to the GIANT size of the bottoms (look v silly) went with the small. The bottoms on these are HUGE and the top is sized fine. Only problem is when you wash them (even not on hot and tumble dry low) the pants shrink so they fit better, but the top shrinks to too small a size. They also show wear very easily. Very comfy material and cute prints, but was disappointed with the quality and high price. Wish you could order separate bottoms/tops and that they would start doing pre-shrinking or non-shrinkable materials. Also where one of the buttons was sewed ripped very easily. May return for the medium and try to just shrink the pants?

The flannel L.L.Bean uses these days is appreciably thinner than it used to be. I don't expect these pajamas to last for years the way Bean products once did.
The pjs fit as expected. I love that the pants have pockets.
The monogram was a disappointment.

I wanted to wear these on Christmas Eve and even had them monogrammed. But the width of the legs on these pants is huge!
I own at least 5 pairs of LLBEAN pajamas and these are cut very differently.
Top fit normally.
Flannel is beautiful but I sent back due to
proportion of top width to bottom width.

The fabric is very soft, but it doesn't wear well. I had dust bunnies from it all over the house and inside the dryer. By contrast, my older Bean PJ's look far better--after years of washing.

The top fit fine, but the bottoms were like clown pants. I wish I had the options to mix and match top and bottoms sizes because the fit was very off. I had to return, which is too bad because they seemed like great quality, good colors, and very soft!

First of all, I really love the coziness of these pjs. They truly are soft and comfy. However, they are cheaply made and definitely NOT worth the 69.00 price tag! I was expecting a well made product up to the LLBean standard, but this was not it.

I really wanted to like these pajamas. Unfortunately, I'm returning them because the top is so tight in the shoulders. The fit is generous in bust, waist, hips and length. I thought about ordering the next size up, but it would be way too large in everything but the shoulders.

These pj's fit great. The fabric is thinner and softer than the men's pj's, They feel warm and cuddley, but the negative is that after having washed them twice, they are shedding all over the house wherever I walk. My pj's are black watch plaid, and black balls are continually being spread on my light colored rugs, floors, and bathrobe. I'm giving my vacuum a thorough cleaning because it wouldn't even pick the balls up.

The fabric was sensational --thick, soft, and warm. Unfortunately, the top was slightly snug and the pants were very large.
