This is a beautiful shirt - luxurious fabric, beautiful colors, nice long sleeves, great fit. However this overall excellence is compromised because all of the stitching is done with red thread. I bought the shirt in Gray Stewart Tartan, which is a predominantly gray plaid. Gray is by nature a calming color, so the contrasting red thread cheapens the whole shirt.

I have several of the Scotch plaid flannel shirts, mostly in the slightly fitted option which has apparently been discontinued for some reason. (The men's shirts have THREE fit options.) I wanted a new plaid and reluctantly ordered this relaxed fit version in the gray tartan plaid. The plaid is pretty, but the shirt appears to be a couple of inches bigger from below the bustline on down, making it look more boxy and masculine. I probably won't order another unless they bring back the "slightly fitted" option, which had a more flattering fit. This one fits in the bust and sleeves but is just more boxy, so it runs bigger through the waist. (Unsure how to rate the fit.) Please bring back the "slightly fitted" option in these shirts!

I have a doubt about the quality. The sleeves start to show fuzz around elbows.
I don't know how the shirt will look like after washing.

I have an older LLB flannel that is XL and fits just fine even after a few years of wearing & washing. I've lost some weight so I ordered a L (large) size this time and it is a full cuff length longer in the sleeves and several inches bigger around the waist. I haven't washed it yet and I hope it shrinks some when I do. This garment is really too big even with layering a turtleneck under. Sure wish LLB would establish standard sizes and then make suppliers meet them. Your customers deserve better considering your prices.

Fabric had a nice hand and color but patterns were not matched at seams, especially off in the yoke. Sent it back.

Not my first Bean relaxed fit flannel, decided to get the celadon color. A bit disappointed because the colors are not as bright as seen online. I'm not a fan of anything resembling yellow but this shirt looked ok because of the purple in the plaid. But the purple is a darker shade in reality, and the yellow/ amber is not as bright as it appears online. I'll keep it because I have an amber color vest from another well known company to wear with the shirt. I purchased petite XL because I wear it over a thin T-neck and older shirts I bought in PL have shrunk ( no it's not that I got larger); regular sizes the sleeves are too long. For some reason, the petite length sleeves don't shrink, only the body width/ length.

I was so disappointed in the last Scotch Plaid flannel shirt I purchased a few years ago that I since then hesitated to try again. Yet I kept reading how LL Bean Scotch Plaid flannel shirts are the best and I read the many good reviews. A few of the bad reviews seemed to be for the same color I last purchased (Black Watch) that pilled terribly right away so I thought maybe another color would be better. I purchased the classic red and black plaid and I'm pretty disappointed. It pilled a lot after the first wash (gentles cycle and hung dry). While the body of the shirt fits true to size, the neck collar is meant for a huge neck. With the top button open (as most people normally wear it), the opening is too wide and deep. I already knew the plaid lines would not match up, as mentioned in other reviews. Overall, I don't think this shirt is worth the full price I paid. I will keep it for around the house and yard, as the seams are sewn well and returning it now after washing it is too much of a hassle. Yet I think I'm done with the women's Scotch Plaid flannel shirts --- especially at full price. I found the organic cotton flannel shirts to be much better quality --- no pilling and thicker flannel.

Beautiful colors, lovely material, fit is wonderful - until you wash them. Mine shrank at least a size. Yes, I'd recommend these, with the caveat that you order up at least a size to accomodate the shrinkage. Note: I rated this three stars but the preview shows 4 - not accurate!

Nice gray plaid (a bit too subdued for me) but I wanted the red or forest geeen plaid and neither has been available in a long time.
Also...I thought the shape qas unflattering. Too wide in shoulders, too wide in body, too short.

Masculine fit and look for a curvy lady. Beautiful quality as always. Would not recommend for hippy girls.

Seriously, this flannel shirt is beautiful and comfortable. It looks great and layers nicely. The medium is roomy enough for two layers beneath the shirt. If it weren't for the pilling, after just one washing, I would give it 5 stars. For these prices, a better quality fabric is expected.

I take a XL and found this shirt a little snug compared to LLBean's other flannel shirts. I liked the dual print as it was different.

I'm completely bummed you don't make a semi-fitted shirt anymore. These fit terribly on anyone with a large bust or broad shoulders. I look like a lumberjack. I'll wear it around the house, but I wouldn't be caught dead in this thing outside (and I am not typically very vain or self-conscious). PLEASE bring back the semi-fitted shirts! And why is this shirt so long? I'm just shy of six feet tall in a size L and it's down to my groin almost. So disappointed, I might have to go find another cotton flannel shirt company who cares that I am not shaped like a ruler or box.

The quality of this shirt is perfect. I really like LL Bean's craftsmanship. I would have given it a higher score, however the color was wrong for me.

The design is nice but the material is too warm for me. I have other shirts that are 100% cotton but this one seems heavier.I wear XL but this shirt feels snug and I also felt that it would shrink after a wash I am returning it.

The shirt is nice quality. Sleeves just right. I sized up in order to wear long sleeve shirt under it. Says it is a relaxed fit. Found it runs small and length is shorter than expected. Expect some shrinkage when washing so I am sending it back. ran small with no shirt under it.

I got the vintage tartan plaid. It did NOT look like the picture online. The colors in the picture were white, black, and blue. This shirt has a large amount of green in it. My husband has this shirt too and agreed the picture looks very different from the shirt. I like llbean flannels so I'll keep it but it is NOT the shirt I was expecting!!

Quality, real flannel. Runs small. Didn't like the color choices. Also, it smelled very heavily of mildew so I decided not to keep.

I returned this shirt and got in a smaller size. The flannel is very soft and nice. Very good quality. The petite sizes are perfect for me because the arm length works--no constantly rolling up the sleeves. My one complaint is the irritating tags in the back of my neck. I really wish LLBean would have their manufacturers go to silkscreened tags. I always have to painstakingly cut out the tags, which risks tearing the garment. Plus the tags are made out of some kind of scratchy plastic material, not cotton or natural fiber, and that makes them even more irritating.

The tall size still did not come down to my wrists. I am 5'11, not outrageously tall so I am quite disappointed. This was my first Tall purchase from ll bean.

This flannel shirt was very soft and comfortable. I purchased a Large size, which was correct size. However, I returned the shirt because it shrank after the first time in washing machine & dryer (in cold water & med heat dry). I was disappointed.

There's really nothing wrong with the shirt itself but my personal preference is a more fitted shirt in the woman's style and I like mine a bit longer. Is I had tried this one in a store I wouldn't have purchased it but there was no reason to send it back.
