The jacket looks good but fits tighter than is comfortable. The hood has no way to adjust so falls too low on my head.

Just a comment. I have always loved anoraks for one reason. If you are wearing them you want to keep yourself dry or out of a cold wind/air. This anorak, IMO, has too long a zipper. Maybe it looks good to some but it is defeating the purpose of what makes anoraks great cover.

Firstly - I like the look and fit of this item and as I got it at a much reduced price in the sale I will keep it. However it is not as good as my previous one - the material is see through and does not promise much in the way of water resistance - an obvious weak point in this regard is the lack of a flap covering the zip on the front pouch.

As previously mentioned the quality of this garment is not the same as the original. The material is lighter and I doubt whether it will repel any rain but that remains to be seen. Hopefully it is thick enough to block the wind. One improvement would be to have an adjuster for the hood so that it does not come down so far. Must wear a baseball cap otherwise you won't be able to see. I normally take a large but ordered an XL which allows me to wear a heavy fleece underneath. I am 5'10", 198 lbs.

Waited for this on backorder because I love the design, but I would not listen to the description saying it's slightly fitted. I am 6'1 and 185 and got a large, but it's too big. Going to try to return for a medium tall instead.

I had bought several of these Supplex anoraks from Bean's over the past several decades. They are just a great item. But...the one I got this past December is not as good as the previous models. It is thinner, lacks one of the elastic pulls to tighten up over your stomach, the elastic is really thin, and the garment seems to be cut smaller. I wore my older model outdoors this morning then switched to the new one this afternoon to compare. The difference is significant. The new model is not better than the old model. It is less warm, blocks less wind, and you can feel cold rain more. The good news is that the Bean Anorak is still far, far better than any of the Polyester models you see in all the outdoor stores. It does breath, still is wearable and comfortable, does repel rain, and fits okay. My old anorak is XL tall, the new 2X tall but they seem to be the same size. The decline in overall quality shows though. No longer one of the best pieces of clothing you can buy anywhere, just adequate.

Nice jacket but not the same as the anorak that LL Bean used to sell. This one has no insulation whatsoever. More of a wind breaker type jacket as opposed to a cold weather option.

My first Bean anorak was purchased at the Freeport, Maine store in 1989. I was pleased with the garment and wore it for many years. However, after nearly 20 years of service it found its way to a well deserved retirement. I've been looking for a replacement and was glad to see this anorak as a "new" product available from Bean. Now, i haven't had it long enough to really give it an objective review, but I can offer the following: It's looks good out of the shipping container and laying on the bed. The fit is different from my earlier model.... it's tight across the shoulders and has short arms even though I bought the XL Tall model. For information, I'm 6' 2" tall, 205 lbs., 48 chest. I believe that Bean states that this model's fit has been adjusted for a trimmer fit..... take that to the bank! I'm keeping it because it'll work as long as I don't wear a sweater or fleece under it. It's just too tight. Wish that the original fit was available 'cause that 1989 model was a very adaptable, flexible, go-to garment. For me, this one cannot replace those features. So, only 3 stars for this personal disappointment.

Noticably thinner, lighter material and less well made than the "Classic" Mountain anorak I bought from Bean just a year ago. Also slightly tighter, narrower cut and zips open much lower. No drawstring in the waist kangaroo pocket, and the bottom drawstring is thinner with skimpier plastic tightener. The hood is straight rather than having the slight visor. The "Stowaway" tab inside the pocket is gone although it will still fold into the pocket. I'm going to keep this, but only because it's lighter weight and narrower cut might work for spring running even if not as well for other anorak purposes. I'm disappointed that it poses as the same "classic" anorak and at the same price. I just wish that if materials and manufacturing cost it more these days, Bean would offer two levels of quality: their original high quality and a slightly lesser for the price conscious. Similar to the way they have been doing lately with their Signature Clothing items.

It's a nice attractive pull over, but was much more lightweight than I thought it would be. Glad I had a $10 off coupon.

I bought this a few months ago I wear it a lot unfortunately one day I decided to pull it my sleeves unfortunately the elastic cuffs never went back the way they used to be, before they were nice with a snug fit and now they are loose and stayed like that so I don't recommend to pull up your sleeves

I bought thiis to replace a very old anorak of another brand. That jacket was very light, did not have a hood, but did have a drawstring at the neck and velcro adjustments at the cuffs. Thus, one could adjust the ventilation to suit the temperature. This jacket has neither of those. What it does have is a hood. So when it rains, you have to put it up or it gets full of water. And then you lose most peripheral vision. And you have to wad up your hat and stuff it in the pocket. Plus, if ithe hood is down and there's any wind from behind, if flops up and hits you in the back of the head. From the featured picture of this Mountain Classic, it isn't at all obvious that it does have a hood - a popular, but in my opinion, nearly useless appendage. It's my fault that I didn't examine the other picutures before ordering. But it's Bean's fault that they designed it with a clingy fabric that is very difficult to get on and off over any sort of soft finish shirt, the Bean's chamoise shirt for example. I'll keep it, but I'm not really pleased with the product.

Lighter weight than I was looking for. Good as a wind breaker and that's about it.

Anyone who thinks this is a good rain jacket has either never been outside or has never owned an actual rain jacket. More than 20minutes outside in anything more than a mist and water will begin to soak through. Don't be cheap like me, buy gortex. On the upside, it looks great and is good against wind (and maybe if you coated it in water-proofing spray it could be a camping/backpacking jacket), but that's about it.

Sizing is off. Ordering Big and Tall size. Fabric is not flexible. Feels rough. Too tight for other clothing I got in the same size. Unfortunately, I returned, but I liked the Colors and Color blocking.

I bought this last year and have had few occasions to wear it. I wore it the first time and each time there after it leaked after minimal drizzle. I walked a dog and today and in the last 10 minutes of the walk, it rained a bit in my arms, back and head got wet within less than 10 minutes. It is lightweight and not hot in rain in summer, but it is useless to repel rain. Or really even sprinkles.

a little bit less than expected. Not at all water resistant as stated. Would not buy again not at the current price.

This is for sure the least water-resistant thing I've ever worn in my entire life. It looks great though and the pouch makes me feel like a kangaroo :)

I know water resistant doesn't mean water proof, but even just seconds into a light sprinkle this thing is completely saturated and anything underneath is completely soaked. Do not wear this in anything less than a fog/mist and expect to stay dry for more than 5-10 seconds

Bad color that was more washed out than the picture. Too baggy and no insulation. Wasn't what I expected from previous purchases.

I normally wear Tall XL LLBean shirts and jackets. I ordered this 2XL anorak because of its quarter zip design. After unsuccessfully trying to get it over my shoulders and pulled down, I gave it to a friend who is smaller.

Boxier and stiffer than versions from years past. Also not as much freedom of movement as past versions, which I used to wear as a top layer for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. I also didn't like the bright color and circular disks for the drawstrings. The old version was a go to workhorse garment. Not so the current one.

Why would anyone make a 2X - - and have it be fitted - - Anoraks are supposed to be comfortable outdoor wear. Material was of good quality - - - sizing - - not so much.

Unlike the many other jackets I have bought in the past, including an earlier version of the Mountain Anorak, this is too tight/small through the chest. Sufficiently tight that while it is sort of wearable with a t-shirt, as soon as you add any sort of layer it is uncomfortable! One even wonders if the jacket size was mis-labeled. I will be exchanging it for a 2XL and hope that it fits better. At this point I would find it difficult to recommend to a friend, we'll see what happens after I get a replacement. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with this purchase

I got this anorak because it looks cool and I thought that the water-resistant design would be perfect for use in light rain. The anorak looks great. The "vintage" ll bean logo is a great detail and the jacket packs up amazingly into its own pocket (I used it many of a times as a pillow). The anorak, however, is not good at all against wind or rain. Rain permeates through the seams no matter how strong the rain and it leaves you with awkward wet areas. I do not recommend this anorak if you are looking for something to keep the rain out. It does look cool though.
