Just buy it, you WON"T regret it,
best winter coat ever made by anybody. I know Winters -raised in upstate New York.
This coat laughs at Winter, makes you feel like you're sitting on a couch in your living room. Get the Baxter State Park Gloves too.

My wife and I each bought one of these. She normally hates coats but LOVES this one--both of us do! The coats are really comfortable and keep you quite warm. I have worn mine in light rain and in cold. It provides great protection. I normally wear mine when walking my German Shepherd in the woods and I am always comfortable. I am in Virginia so the low temps have been about 5-8 degrees plus wind chill. Always comfortable. I am 6'1" and about 190 pounds. I have a Large Regular and the coat feels loose enough that I can move easily. I normally wear a hoodie underneath it and still feel quite comfortable.
Things I wish:
1. There are two sets of exterior pockets for your hands. The slide-in-from-the-rear pockets feel a little low and not very comfortable to put my hands in. I usually use the cargo pockets that are outside of the slide-in pockets. I wish the slide-in pockets were slightly higher.
2. The front zipper is a little long for me, extending the full length of the coat. This makes bending difficult, but the zipper is double headed so you can unzip from the bottom also. This is workable, but I would have preferred the zipper start maybe 6" from the bottom and there be snaps for the bottom 6 inches of the coat.
3. I wish there were a small D ring sewn in on the front about chest/shoulder level so small items could hung from it, e.g., a small flashlight or whistle.
4. I wish there were a pencil-pen exterior pocket on the left sleeve upper arm and it was wide enough to accommodate a small flashlight (6" long by 3/4" diameter).
Absolutely recommend this coat!

Used the parka in Quebec for a week with temperatures in the single digits and low teens with some high winds and snow. I never got the least bit cold. I never wore more than a wicking long-sleeve t-shirt under the coat. It shed snow and freezing rain easily. The hood functioned well and kept my head warm. It fit well and offered good freedom of movement. There are so many pockets that I kept forgetting where I put things. This coat is great for extreme cold.

This was my second Baxter State Parka, which I purchased for my grandson. My first one was purchased at least 30 years ago and I still wear it on occasions. Can't beat that for Real Value!

The best wintercoat I have ever owned. Worn for about 3 months during a very cold New York City winter. Haven't washed it yet, but I am assuming it will hold up. Incredible !

Perfecto... just what I was after. Not a coat for a quick in-and-out of the truck, but if you are going to be outside for awhile on one of those "man I dread heading out there" days, this is the perfect coat!

Climate change causes unpredictable severe conditions, making it mandatory to wear more efficient winter weather gear not needed in Nebraska until now. My new Baxter State Parka is the best arctic parka I've ever worn in severe winter conditions. Highly recommended!

This is the winter jacket I was hoping for. It is big, warm, and comfortable.
I've used it in weather down to zero degrees and been warm.
I bought size large and it's big, about what you'd expect in a winter parka. It's bulky but fits good for my 180-lb 6' tall build. It goes about 6-8" below my waist, if that helps give you an idea of length.
There are many, may pockets, which was nice. I haven't explored them all but there's plenty of room for hat, gloves, phone, keys, headphones, candy, cans of soda .. you get the idea.

Love this parka. Overall so comfortable and such a good fit, but then all the little things they have built-in to this parka...inner pockets, outer pockets with flap and without just to slip your hands in, somewhere to hold a ski cap or gloves within the coat. Warm and comfy. Love it.

I needed a jacket for a work assignment in Minneapolis. I would be there for nine days working outside for most of the time. I also looked at another brand of a jacket(named after a Canadian bird). For the price, LL Bean was a smarter buy.
Some of the days were in the negative numbers. What I loved about the jacket the most was the hood with "fur". This really kept my face warm on those cold jackets.
I am truly happy that I picked this jacket to keep me warm in the Bold North.

This is a replacement for a Baxter Parka that is 35 years old, and which gave excellent service. I expect this to equal the old, if not surpass it.
I am pleased that the new parka is waterproof, and that it has additional pockets.

This parka is fantastic. From the water proof exterior to the very handy pockets inside and out. When snowing and windy, the hood keeps my very important head warm and dry. Pockets are big and useful and in the corret position. Lastly, all I need underneath is a tshirt and a light denim short...warm as toast.

My first Baxter State parka was a Christmas gift from my husband close to thirty years ago. Sad to say, years passed and it got a little snug (we all add on a few pounds with time...LOL). I sold it At a garage sale and survived a few winters with lighter weight jackets. Mother Nature dealt us a miserably cold winter this season so I needed a heavy coat again. I picked up a new Baxter State parka at our local Bean store. I'm able to walk to pickup the mail In subzero windchills, I stay comfy and warm. (Also wearing my Bean boots and Bean stowaway pants!)
I love all the little pockets for carrying keys, ID, tissues. The removable faux fur hood trim is a great idea, too...won't get trashed in the washer! I really love this coat!!!!

I am 5'7" and 206 lbs and I ordered a regular Large.
It fits just right, a little long but comfortable. No room for layers except for a light vest or sweater.
I wear it with just a light weight flannel shirt and it has been warm at chill factors in the teens.
I find extra layers are not needed.
Lots of pockets, great versatile hood.
The zipper needs to be larger since it is a double.
I would recommend this coat but watch you sizing.

This is my third Baxter State Parka--and the best one made to date. It is less bulky than previous versions but significantly warmer. Got the matching gloves. There are tons of pockets and I especially love the inner side pockets to store the gloves. Been getting a lot of compliments on the grey color. The large runs slightly big but the size recommendations are accurate--if you wear a 42 to 44 suit jacket then a large is the size for you. A medium is quite a bit smaller than the large and will be too small to wear a sweater underneath. Love this Parka!

I have my fair share of jackets (kind of like them a lot) but since I've gotten this parka I've only warn it and nothing else. It's a great fit that covers you up head to butt (yes all the way down to keep your tushy warm too).
I live in Upstate NY and though this winter has had its ups and downs with the weather, this jacket has been great throughout. I wear it out on nice occasions, wear it to work, and even wear it when I've snow-blowing the driveway and it's kept me warm and comfortable throughout.
Most jackets of this type have a cold sleeve cuff, but LLB has gone the extra mile to not only put in a soft internal cuff to keep you warm and comfortable, but it's also a nice easy stretch material that feels like it will last for year and not get stretched out from wear.
LLB has really through of everything with this jacket and I believe it to be a high quality, last a life time jacket that I will be warning for many winters to come.

I'm looking for a new lighter weight winter jacket but wanted to write a review of how awesome this parka is.
This thing has been through four Minneapolis winters and seen temperatures down to -20 and wind chills down to -40. It's warm, stylish and the medium fits my 6 ft, medium build frame perfectly. As opposed to other jackets I've had I feel I can wear it with any outfit and won't be too cold or too warm. It might leak a tiny feather here and there but you'll hardly notice. Pockets, hood and zippers work well. A fantastic value too.

I bought this coat for my husband and he absolutely loves it. This jacket makes it easy to enjoy everything winter has to offer and not feel uncomfortable because of the weather. Hiking, biking, walking the dog, days in the city are all warmer. Rain, snow and sleet have not stopped this jacket! It's truly a lifelong jacket, he'll keep it forever!

I picked this up last Spring at a great price and have been waiting to truly try it out. This Minnesota winter has had some pretty frigid arctic air come through, -5 to -35. I have had to step out to run some quick errands and did not want to have to get all layered up with a lighter jacket. I grabbed this with only a t-shirt on underneath and it did not disappoint! I was very impressed at how comfortable it kept me in the subzero weather without any extra layering on. With another long sleeve layer or more involved it gets even better. I love the fleece cuffs on the inside of the larger cuffs, which helps to keep the cold drafts out. Kind of like a turtle neck for your wrists. It has got pockets galore, enough where you might forget which one you put your stuff in. Love the 2-way zipper, which makes it easier to manage when you have to sit down or drive. The only qualm I have with the design is that the lower side pockets are a bit awkward to get in and out of. As you might see in the pics, it is a pretty square pocket so tucking something in quickly to the lower side pockets makes for a bit of an odd angle as they can basically be at or below the waist. Imagine trying to get something into the front pockets of your jeans if the pockets were running vertically at the side of the jeans rather than at an angle. I am not sure how it could be done, but something that has more of an angle for easier access would do the trick. You can see something to that effect with the buttoned down pockets on the front of those same side pockets. Why not use those buttoned pockets? If you have heavier gloves on, you might not want to have to mess with opening and then refastening the buttons. Again, if you are looking for quick access, the side pockets are the way to go, so easier access would be a plus. That said, in all, I am very impressed with this parka! If possible, I would give this 4.5 stars.
