Unfortunately, the ad copy on the zappos website misrepresented the waterproof capability of this shoe. They are not bdry, they are not waterproof and it was a waste of my time and energy to even have ordered them. Returned them as soon as I confirmed through oboz that this shoe is def not waterproof. Get your act together zappos.

Due to ankle surgery shoe did not have enough cushion for a softer step. Support and feel was great.

There was something wrong with the right shoe, a bump under the pad of my foot made them unkeepable. Other than that the shoes were nice if a bit too large.

Fit just as well as the pair I am replacing. Previous pair lasted 14 years. Only reason replaced is the leather wore through on my pinky toes.

Nice shoe, but causes a little chaffing with rubing on the back of one of my heels.

I'm a long time Oboz fan, having worn Sawtooth II Mids for years. I still use both Sawtooth II's and X's, rotating between them with each hike.
Points worth noting:
1. I find the Sawtooth X very comfortable, and I can hit the mountains without any breaking in. (I have to break in my Sawtooth II's. )
2. They provide less protection than the Sawtooth II. Most noticeably for me, the sole provides less cushion than the Sawtooth II. It seems thinner and my feet will be sore after long climbs as a result. The other area where there's less protection is around the bottom edge, which has visibly less rubber (or whatever), but that's less often an issue unless I hit a boulder hard.
3. The material sewn across the front of the shoe doesn't stay put. On either side of the shoe, close to where the material curves down to the edge of the shoe, the thread will tear and the material will separate from the main shoe. So I have to break out the E6000 and glue it back in place until it separates again.
That's all. Otherwise I still love these shoes.

I usually wear a size 9 but i had to go up a half size on this boot. They fir great. I just walked the dog in the woods by my house in fresh snow and my feet stayed warm and dry as well as great traction in the snow. I highly recommend these.

My latest Sawtooth is a wonderful well fitting boot which is nearly perfect except for an irritating flaw.
The lace locks at the top of the boot have sharp edges which saw boot laces with their sharp edges. Why these instead the more open type on the Bridger, or a D ring?

Toe box is expansive and the heel cup keeps you in place. I wish Oboz would offer more options without GoreTex as I find it makes my feet hotter and sweatier. Despite the claims it's not breathable. Thank goodness they still over a non Gtex option. Otherwise I am a big fan of Oboz.

Replaced an old pair of Sawtooth low rise, which I found slightly wider than these, but thats OK. Im adjusting to the slightly tighter tow box, so would probably buy the wider model next time. A great show that lasts!

The Sawtooth X Mid is the best hiking boot I have owned. I have feet that resemble duck feet--narrow heel, white forefoot. I finally have a boot that locks in my heel but has width in the forefoot (Wide version) to keep my feet happy.

I was initially disappointed as they weren't as comfortable as my Sawtooth II's. However, I soon realized the reason for the discomfort was because they were just laced a little tight in the toes right out of the box. As soon as I loosened them up, they were every bit as comfortable as the Sawtooth II's. I also love that they come in all black. Being a first responder, I have to wear all black boots with my uniform. I am now able to wear my Oboz everyday at work! They only complaint I have, which is really minor, is that the top lace hook opening is a little narrow. I plan to file it down to open it up a bit.

I want to preface this with: I really do love this company and their Bridger boot has been awesome. But this one, unfortunately, has not held up like the other one. I have owned the Sawtooth for 9 months now and it has been my daily boot in a very mild environment. I definitely love the comfort and the ankle stability is provides, but it is basically useless on any wet rocks/surface. I live in southern Oregon so it's not too big of a deal, but I absolutely need the grip on those rare occasions that it's wet out, as I work in EMS. If that were the only issue then I could look past it, but the quality just isn't there. After only 9 months I have had to trash these boots due to the stitching coming out on the sides. I even attempted to patch it early on with some ShoeGoo which did band-aid it for a little longer but ultimately it split open. I really wanted to love this boot, but I cannot justify buying a new pair every 7 to 8 months if this is going to be the case. I give it 2 stars because it's very comfortable and is a great (dry only) hiking boot, but unless you are buying these for hiking only, then I can't recommend them. If you are buying them for hiking only then go for it!
