Highly recommended by a friend so bought it at a very steep price here. Overall the shoes feel great. Great traction on wet and muddy trail. However, the build quality is very disappointed. After few runs, the front outsole is coming apart. For a price this steep, the build quality is definitely bad.

I am a dedicated XC runner and track runner that got these shoes for my summer training! I been a dedicated to Altra's shoes for the past three seasons of running. I run 40 to 60 mile weeks and conquered many different types of trail runs throughout Glacier and Grand Teton NP! The shoes was extremely comfortable with good support after I figured out the heel lock. They just felt great and soo light to run in. I am impressed with the shoe. They are a wonderfully built shoe, but after 325 miles the sides blew out. They just ripped and after the fact they were almost not runnable (because of side of foot slipping out) anymore which was sad. The tread though was beginning to develop some wear quite earlier than other shoes such as timp 3s which shown around 500 miles for me. I would recommend, but the durability left me disappointed considering the cost. I at least enjoyed running in these shoes. I also want to mention this is not the first shoe that had this issue of blowing out. The superiors 4.5 and 5 that I ran in also had similar problems.

To love them and hate them. The fit, the cushion, and the weight are all fantastic (once I figured out how to lockdown my heel) but the durability is suspect at best. On my first hike, which was only about 5 miles the toe caps on both shoes peeled off. I'm up guiding in Alaska and can't get anywhere to replace them easily so I'm stuck. With every hike a little bit of glaciar gravel finds it's way through the toe and forces me to remove the shoe midhike at least once.

I loved everything about this shoe, except one thing. I usually use the Olympuses for big trail days, and was excited about this lighter weight, high cushioned shoe. However, the outsole and upper fell apart after only 2 runs, of only 15 miles each, on the trail. For the price point of the shoe, I expected a lot more. I've also seen durability start to go downhill in Altra's other offerings as well. Hopefully this does not continue or I will have to find other shoes to run in.

Great shoe but only lasted about 150 miles before the glue inside toe box started failing. these are light race shoes but definitely expected more miles out of these. You'll need gators as upper is lower cut. Took 2nd in my 50 miler in these bad boys.

This shoe feels fantastic but it has one major flaw. The heal lock is terrible due to the height of the insole or lack of height in the heal material. Even with marathon lacing, I couldn't keep my heal from slipping which is why I returned the shoe. I LOVE the fit of the superior and haven't found anything to compare as of yet.

Nice shoe.. The tongue was odd and shoe was too narrow for me. I realized I need a wider selection like the Olympus.

Wife and I both got a pair (mens and womens) to try out. Shoes felt great, excellent cushion. We took them out for a 8 mile warm up hike across varied terrain and even some snow. Shoes held up incredible well, but we were both in a lot of pain at the end due to the zero drop in Altra's. Shame, we loved them and felt the grip was excellent for hiking. Wish Altra would manufacture hiking/running shoes with a more traditional drop as the build quality and materials are excellent. We opted for Brooks Cascadia 16's instead. I'll keep an eye out for updates to Altra's lineup as the toebox width is very comfortable and the traction was incredible.

I was really excited for this shoe with a 50 miler and 100 miler coming up in the next several month. Today I put in a training marathon on rolling dirt roads with about 2000ft of climbing and descending and ended up with a hotspot on my ankle where the seam of the tongue rubbed and on the side of my heel where the heel padding rested. I've run 100 miles in Lone Peaks without a single blister and have my my foot care dialed in so this was 100% on the shoe. I wouldn't mind the Vibram soles added to some other models. These are going back for some Lone Peaks.

This is my first pair of altra. Had to go a half size down and they are comfortable. Did a couple of short runs to break them in and then a 55k. Made it through with no issues even with the short laces. The upper is already showing signs of bad wear. Don't think they will last 150 miles at this rate. Like them but don't love them will be going back to Hoka

I really enjoyed running in this but they do not last long for the amount I paid. I run 70-80 mile weeks and I live in NC where it is very humid and I do sweat heavily. After 2 weeks with the shoe the insoles in both shoes got slippery and slid to the toe box. It was a great show while it lasted but a dollar a mile isn't great for something that is not carbon fiber.

Lighter than the lone peak, with a more aggressive tread. The appearance of the shoe looks great visually, and the tread looks like the grip will be fantastic, but I wasn't able to actually test it out well due to the extra cushion around the heel. It pushed my heel forwards into the shoe and created an irritating rub against it as my heel was never fully secured, even with a heel lock lacing technique. Would love to see altra swap this heel out for better lock down.

I've owned 10+ pairs of Mont Blanc's over the last 16 months & even left a 5 star review in the past. However, I've now had 3 pairs where tread unpeeled after less than 100 miles. Twice during a race. Bummed.

I was out trail running and slipped in a mud patch. When I caught my balance the side of the shoe had busted through , mile 20/36. By the end of the run, I hit 100 miles so the shoe didn't even last.

Bought these to replace my lone peak 7's looking for something different. Loved the fit but when it came to running I noticed I couldn't get my heel to lock in. No matter how I tied them they always seemed to move around. Within 2-3 miles I had blisters and was very uncomfortable.

I thought maybe the heel issue others mentioned would not be bad for me. It is brutal. It's very disappointing because the rest of the shoe is great

Blistered heels after 2 miles of trail running. I love my other Altra's but the heel of this shoe is too low and minimalist.

I ran a total of 26 miles primarily on single track, fire road and gravel type conditions. The fit felt good, but there is a piece of stitching that created a hot spot and blister on right heel. No go

I'm a died-in-the-wool Lone Peak fan, tons of pairs over many different models. They seem to be getting worse, but that's not this story - this time I waited too long for replacement shoes and must have landed in the middle of another model changeover, nobody had a Lone Peak in my size, so I plumped for this Mont Blanc. As others have said, the heel is a disaster. Since there's no padding material there, you can't get it tight, no matter how fancy a lacing pattern you use to help, so it just slips around. And somehow, there's not enough volume in the shoe across the MTP joints, which makes it really uncomfortable - and because of the construction, that's a part of the shoe that doesn't stretch, really. And stop scrimping on the laces - these are just too short. And - whatever software you use for reviews is so loaded with crapware that none of my normal browsers in *normal settings* allow posting - it's claiming an ad-blocker is interfering... what? I'm trying to review a shoe I bought, what would an adblocker (which I'm not even using) have to do with it?

I have been running with Altra for many years. I run with Paradigms on the road and Lone Peaks on trails. But Lone Peaks seem a little too soft for me, but the toe box wide is perfect. I want to love this Mont Blanc, but it is just too narrow from the mid foot to the toe box. I love the stiffer sole of Mont Blanc compared to Lone Peak. Altra, please go back and design shoes with wide toe box or your natural toe box. Stick to what you are good at and stop trying to be like every other shoes manufacturer.

This shoe looks incredible, and I had high hopes, however the reviews I read were true. The heel of this shoe is its Achilles heel. Going uphill, no problem. But on flat, and downhill sections there is minimal, if any stability in the heel due to frankly poor construction. The padding is minimal, and the cup is far too shallow. Very disappointing considering this shoe would be an absolute knockout with an appropriately deep and secure heel, but it sadly is not. Hoping the redesign will solve these issues, especially since this model looks so rad!

Was really hoping this would be the one, but it wasn't. No heel lock, ate my socks, ripped toe guard after hitting one root! I really wanted this to be like a pair of Torin's with a Vibram outsole, since the grip on my Lone Peaks are not existent after 100 miles or so. The grip is amazing, but the rest of the shoe is a flop.

The cushioning and grip are great, however, the heel is too loose and wide with no ability to add a heel lock as the lacing system is too far forward. Hence its a very unstable under the heel.

For years have been wearing Altra trail and road shoes. All offering the expected quality and comfort until this shoe. Does not fit well. Heel doesn't fit well with lots of play and there's fabric bunching on the uppers when lacing. Basically the shoe feels like it's not sized according to past experience and is shaped very oddly in general.

These are the best trail runners I've ever put on my feet. Fast and nimble! They have a glove like feel and the perfect amount of cushioning. Unfortunately, the midsole is already starting to come apart after just the third outing :(
