The font on these backpacks could be a lot bigger the lunchbox had larger font than the backpack.

The bag quality was wonderful. The monogram quality is what was not great

Got these backpacks for my kids for school - Inhad one as a kid growing up and it's definitely nostalgic! My one complaint is that the main compartment zipper is a little tricky for young hands - not getting the zipper cover stuck in it. They have to learn to fold the zipper cover back when zipping it up so it doesn't get stuck in the zipper. I had an issue with one of the backpacks after a year of use and LLBEAN stood by their product and sent me a new one. We will be using these for school for a good long time!

The front reflector already has scratch marks on it after a few days of use. Other than that the back pack is great.

Sturdy quality, but missing the laptop pocket. Considering how long the backpacks have been around, it feels overdue for the addition.

Replacement for original that was purchased a very long time ago. I like the addition of the outside pocket for a water bottle. I don't like the padded back, as this make the book pack bulkier, strap padding is also stiffer. The new key clip is harder to use than the original. Overall the inside packable space is slightly smaller in the main compartment and the compartment with the pen and key holder

My family has purchased products from L.L. Bean for many years without any issues. However, I purchased this backpack a few years ago and stored it in my son's closet for later use. He has used it for five months and one zipper is now broken from consistently getting caught on the fabric covering the zipper and the other continues getting caught as well. Be mindful of your child's age when purchasing and if they can properly fold the fabric back.

Great backpack, just too small for my 4th grader so I had to return it and got a slightly bigger style from
LLBean.

Love it but unfortunately the silver reflective piece got a big gash in it after only the first day of school- disappointed as I was hoping this would last us a long while and she's only in kindergarten so it's not like she's all that tough on it!

Embroidery, for the cost could be thicker thread count and larger in font size.

Bought 3 bookbags with 2 matching lunchboxes for each. I had to settle for the 3 sets in colors that I was not trilled with but they were the only colors that I could purchase to get everything matching. I have had to buy for 7 children and wanted to make sure each had a different color/design. When each child has their own color, it helps when packing bags and lunches for school in the morning. I wish the red and royal blue was still available in the bookbag and matching flip top lunchbox and lunchbox II. Otherwise, the bookbags are of good quality and last for years. They have been used from kindergarten to 8th grade. They have been washed twice a year. Just throw them in the washing machine and dry on a clothes line

I've had mine for about 12 years. The quality of craftsmanship was better then, as I can attest to my 40 yr old LLB rucksack, still in use. I bought the Original bag for work (now retired), as it met my needs. I have also used it
as my only bag for minimalist travel. It's dimensions fit within the range for a personal under the seat item. LLB does need to update the measurements though. Yes it is 16" x 13", but the depth is not 7", but in fact 8". They fail to take into consideration the outside pouch which adds 1" to the overall depth. This bag fits within Allegiance and Alaska airlines guidlines for a personal bag. LLB does need better colors as an adult can use this as well.

Excellent quality backpack and great size foe holding folders, lunch, etc. my only complaint is the water bottle holder. It needs to be deeper or have an an elastic leash to prevent a water bottle from falling out

Hey, Beans, as a lifelong Mainer, we LOVE your products! But we've gotta talk about backpacks for a second... please bring back some better colors! We had some amazing colors in the 90s and 2000s when all the kids in our family had these bags. Now, we all have our own little kids and they need backpacks soon, but the colors and patterns aren't as cute as they used to be. The patterns won't last a kid 13+ years of school because they're way too juvenile and then the solid colors have been majorly boring the last few years!! Why are the only good colors on the Deluxe bag? Kids don't need such huge backpacks anymore because textbooks have been replaced with online versions, so the Deluxe size is kinda overkill. The Junior and Original sizes need those same cute colors, please! Lastly, can we PLEASE have TWO water bottle pockets? I'm still using my old LLBean Original bag for a diaper bag and my old Deluxe in eggplant for traveling, so these bags go the distance (they were purchased in 1993 and 1998). But I often carry water and a coffee or water and sippy cups, so a bottle pocket on each side would be a game changer.

LL Bean Book pack has been given to my family for years. I gave to the third generator this Christmas the new backpack. Its durable, literally almost kid proof. Its quality and dependability wrapped up in one! Great gift for loved ones! Know m great nephews loved it.

I should have read the reviews more carefully - it seems that people who purchased this backpack in 2021 - 2022 mentioned that the materials seemed to be less durable than previous versions and that was exactly our experience. I didn't look at the condition of the backpack until the end of the school year (missing the 1yr return policy) and noticed holes worn out on the bottom of the backpack. When I called the rep told me to mail it in anyway but it was sent back to me and I was told that they deemed it not due to poor materials but misuse.
This was used by my 5yr old kindergartener who is very careful with belongings (pants don't even have holes in them!) and he honestly doesn't have the strength to pull a backpack on the ground causing holes to form. The bottom of any backpack should be made with material strong enough to deal with daily wear and tear, so if there is any chance that your child may leave this bag on the ground, make sure you check on the bottom of the backpack before the 1yr window for returns! I sure learned my lesson.

It is a smidge big for my preschooler but LL Bean backpacks are classic for a reason - it has everything he needs, nothing he doesn't, and it will last through college and beyond.

The backpack itself is good as it ever was and I intend this to last my son as long as mine has lasted me (decades). My one critique is that I wish more basic solid colors were available, such as navy and hunter green.

Love the colors and the construction is great. I had thought it would be a little bit bigger. Bought this for a 3rd grader and it's only slightly bigger than his previous "little kid" LL Bean backpack that he had previously.

This is a well made, durable, quality backpack. It's great for an elementary school kid. The backpack easily fits a bulky lunch box, water bottle, some folders and books. We've had enough room for a Chromebook with padded case. The one downside was that there is no chest strap. My son complained about his neck hurting the first few days. A chest strap would be so great for active kids.

This backpack is very pretty and well made. I ordered it to have a monogram on it , but it came without one. It has good organization and is a good size. I ordered it for my granddaughter who is going to early college.
