It is a really good backpack. It is really big. Nice & seems to be durable.

We have always ordered our backpacks from LL Bean and this year with the virus and not being able to use a locker, and lugging a chromebook back and forth to school, we knew we needed something bigger and better... and this was it! It has so much space and it is extremely durable. It is pricey but worth every dollar!

This backpack is probably the most functional one I've ever owned. It is extremely spacious, and the big compartment in front that clips comes in handy a lot...the two spaces for water bottles are great. I found that how it fits on my shoulders feels a little funny, but I discovered that it doesn't hurt my back like my others have after wearing them for awhile, so I think the placement is beneficial. Somehow it also feels very light, even with it packed. I purchased the gray, love the gray and the orange.. my partner purchased it in black, and the blue inside is very nice.

Our son can't access a school locker due to COVID so must carry all materials around in backpack. This fits his growing frame and meets his needs for what a 7th grader needs to carry.

We have purchased LLBean backpacks for my kids every time they needed an upgrade - they have the smallest pre-school size through this new super huge portable locker size! Neither my high schooler nor my middle schooler are able to use lockers this year (thanks COVID!), but have to carry an insane amount of binders, text books, chromebook, pencil case, etc. Their next size down backpack, the Super Deluxe Book Pack strained to zip closed and the portable locker, has room to spare! I am incredibly thankful to LLBean for superior products offered at just the right time. The price may be steep, but with the lifetime guarantee there is nothing better! There is even a waist band on this model which helps to reduce back pain from carrying this heavy load day after day. Highly recommend, and even posted it on Facebook as a must purchase!

Due to COVID, lockers were not assigned at my daughter's high school. This backpack carries EVERYTHING! She can easily carry her chromebook, notebooks, lunchbox, water bottle, supplies, jacket, etc. It is awesome! I highly recommend it. Not bulky.

Without lockers this year the kids needed large backpacks, these fit the bill... lots of space. Nice color selection.

With the new school pandemic normal, lockers aren't allowed and lunch is no longer served so needed a roomy backpack for a laptop, lunch, all supplies and several text books. This is working out great so far. Lots of compartments but not too many -- and lightweight when empty too. So overall a win-win, especially if your student is locker-less and carrying around everything for the entire school day!

I had bought this years ago for son who needed a large durable backpack. Still looks new. When daughter was in need of one, I bought this immediately. Laptop fits in back, roomy compartments, it is great. For some reason, when making girl items, manufacturers feel the need to trim with pastel colors. That would be my only critique. Far better to keep colors monochromatic and dark for items that will be tossed around.

We just learned there will be no lockers at school. This bag has all the room, pockets and everything my son will need. He says it is also comfortable to wear.

I've had many backpacks from llbean and all have their virtues. I've made a study of back pack abuse. I carry a lot of things on a daily basis. my pack can easily weigh 25 lbs when fully loaded. my last bag, the turbo transit, fit it all but for some reason the way the pockets were set up made it feel unwieldy to carry. the same 25 lbs of stuff fits in this bag and because of the compartment/pocket layout it is much easier to distribute the weight in a comfortable manner. the chest strap is actually a part of the shoulder straps which makes it far more secure. it's also an improvement over the transit packs because it has a generous sized water bottle holder that isn't as prone to having the bottle flip out when handling the bag. the clips on the side that hold the front pocket closed do a good job at holding the bag in a way to make it more compact and less like excess weight is just hanging off your back. the only addition i'd like to see is for the material to be more waterproof than just resistant. getting stuck in a good downpour drenches the bags contents as well.

We purchased this backpack for our daughter. It seemed well made and we loved all of the pockets for her laptop, binder, and pencils. There was even room for her lunchbox to fit inside the bag, which is what she wanted. She has had a problem with other backpacks when the mesh side panel for the water bottle tears, and she liked that this bag has a cloth side panel so that it won't rip from her metal water bottle. However, just a couple months after she got the backpack, one of the shoulder straps tore where it attaches to the top of the bag at the seam. LLBean was great and replaced the bag for us since it was defective. Then the new bag became defective after only a couple weeks when one of the zippers kept separating and she couldn't keep her bag closed. This was also a defect, as she does not stuff her bag overly full. LLBean was great and replaced the bag again. I am happy with the customer service, but I am not happy that the quality of the bag had defects twice so I took a star off for that. For a bag that costs over $100, it should not have defects that happened to us twice.

I used it for a school year. i love the pockets and space, but there were a couple of things wrong. Firstly, the mesh fabric on the back rubbed on my clothes and pilled them. I would fix this by sewing some other fabric on top of it, but that's the main reason I stopped wearing this backpack. Second, when the bag is full (and heavy), the straps don't stay up. They slip down, then the backpack sags.

Largest volume though lunchbox area isn't ideal. Wish the lunchbox area was a zip section. Nice upgrade from kids backpack.

Great backpack! Holds a lot of stuff!!! I would give it 5 stars but after only a couple weeks of use, some of the unnecessary trim on the straps is starting to show wear.

This is my son's 2nd backpack...the first LLBean lasted from middle school through his Junior year of college!!! I hope this one lasts just as long. Only thing missing in my opinion is waterproof material and I think past design has better storage options.

This is an upgrade from Deluxe Book Pack (32L) for my son. More rugged (a bit heavier) but lots of compartments. One down side is that you cannot put a monogram on it :( hence only 4 stars.

Bean has good quality bags. This one is durable and spacious and has convenient features like the small pouch at the top which is great to stash small everyday items like hand sanitizer and keys. If I could make a change, I'd like Bean to put in side pouches that could hold a reusable water bottle. The current pouches are too shallow and the bottle falls out while taking the bag off or putting it on. Some models have deeper pouches but didn't provide the space I needed. If Bean added deeper pouches to this bag, I'd give it a 5-star rating.

I ordered for my son who used a previous LL Bean backpack for school for over 5 years. He likes this one but says it's a little smaller than his previous one.

We bought this because my son has to haul SO many books and a big binder to his classes. His other bags have ripped within weeks. While this bag did start to rip/come apart at the shoulder straps, it only went about a centimeter on each and stopped. It lasted the whole school year. No issues with zippers or fabric ripping and believe me! Is really heavily loaded down with books. While waiting for this one to come in the mail, we got him a cheap one and it was shred to pieces, fabric coming apart, zippers stuck by the end of day ONE. He starts high school next year and we're hoping it will hang in there for one more year. I wish it was quality like the backpacks from 30 years ago, but we'll take what we can get.

Great option for my son but the strap tore after only a few months of use. Plenty of space and compartments to keep him organized.

Very roomy, solid and well designed! Only quibble is the side pockets could be deeper to keep the H2O bottle from sliding out. Otherwise makes excellent use of all the space. Great device section. Perfect for teens who have a lot to carry.

My son says he likes it overall. He does with the straps were closer together because sometimes they slip off his shoulder when his winter jacket is on. Other than that, it's a good backpack.

Pros - It is the largest capacity book bag we've found. Works great for middle schoolers without locker access. Able to carry all notebooks, laptop, lunch box, and sweatshirt inside this backpack. The bottle holders on sides are generously sized. Comfortable to wear fully loaded without chest/waist straps. The zipper for the laptop section is covered by a flap, which makes it harder to open which is likely by design (water proof) and could be considered added security. Cons - Fabric where shoulder straps attach at the top were fraying after a couple days. The LL Bean logo was peeling off at 1 month. Will be researching options for warranty/replacement once summer break occurs. The little pocket on the top would have been better designed as being horizontal shaped, as it hangs down into the sections were notebooks are stored.
