Clunky and frumpy

I previously owned the v5, which I loved for 4 months - until the mesh started ripping. I have posterior tibial tendonitis and the v5 was specifically recommended for it. I only wore the v5 for walking - no running - and have PowerStep orthotics in the shoes together with a sleeve on one foot. Very comfortable shoes. I was able to get store credit from a local store for the v5 and bought the v6. I noticed that the right foot (the one unaffected by PTTD) was too tight by the tongue so I have to lace it a bit differently. Once I was able to do that, the rubbing stopped and the shoe feels fine. The left shoe easily accommodates the orthotic and the sleeve. I have no issues with the toe box even though it is longer and not as wide as the v5. As far as style, I prefer the all black v5 instead of the black and white v6 but it is what it is. The shoes are comfortable and work well with my PTTD - and the orthotics and sleeve. Please note that I am currently wearing the shoes while barefoot and not wearing socks. Hopefully that will not matter.

These sneakers seem to be unisex sized, not Womens. They are extremely large and long. Sizing is puzzling. Ordered 2 sizes, both too large and long.

I have worn the NB990 through the last three versions, however very disappointed with the change to V6 as the toe box is very narrow and so now hunting for a shoe with the same stability and room for my toes.

Shoe longer than 990v5. Not comfortable to wear with orthotics. Less coverage of the instep, so more laces to push the uncomfortable tongue into my feet. Shallow heel cup feels less stable.

I've been buying v5 for years, why change something that works? These run large and are not as supportive.

These are not the same as the V5, they are not as supportive and somehow more expensive.

For the price I just didn’t like the shoe. It was too long, no support for my arch which rolls inward.

I thought I’d love the New Balance shoe; but for the price it did not offer anything special compared to other shoes I’ve purchased.

Length and width good but the tongue and edge of the shoe cut into my ankle bone.

Love the look of the 990v6. The fit was weird though almost like a man's shoe. Didn't work for me.

I've been wearing New Balance 860 for years and now they don't make them. Have ordered and returned at least 4 other pairs. Ugh

I’m not overly particular about shoes I buy solely for the style. I loved the way these look. Unfortunately, I was not able to justify liking the style over how incredibly UNCOMFORTABLE these are. I’m honestly baffled New Balance is okay with selling such a product. AND for the price these shoes are! The measurements are way off, starting with the front of the shoe. Way too narrow. I have a very small narrow foot, and the top part of the shoe was digging into the top of my foot every step I took, despite loosening the laces to relieve some of the pressure. The ankle portion is way too wide, offering zero support, as well as allowing my heel to slightly slip from the back of the shoe often. I really wanted to love these shoes and validate spending the money. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY THESE. Seriously, coming from someone who only wanted them for the style, these are horrible in the comfort department. I’ve wore plenty of uncomfortable shoes for the aesthetic. These take the cake.

Surprisingly stiff and not enough forefoot cushion for me. I need a cloud, a pillow. Had heard these were great. Not for me tho. Alas.

I thought I’d like to try the New Balance shoes; but for the price they were just uncomfortable and offered no support or wider sole.

It was too heavy for a running shoe. It ran big.

The fit and size was off and rubbed the edge of my ankles on both sides. These shoes will not fit me.

This shoe without the insole has zero cushioning and is over priced. Obviously the shoe is made by SAS. Hoka sells a much better product all things considered.

I've worn New Balance 990s for many years in the same size, but this is not the same shoe. This is cut larger. It's labeled as a Woman's 6-1/2 but might be intended for a man's foot? A big disappointment because I've tried for years to find a replacement.

I'm so disappointed in these sneakers. I've been getting the same sneaker (newer models), same size and width, every year for the past 4 or 5 years. The newest model in the size I get is too big. The company changed the sizing. I ordered the same sneaker in the same size from Amazon just to see if there was a discrepancy, and there's not. The sneaker I got from Amazon was also too big.
