Best military boots I own by far. I am stationed in Fort Drum New York and those boots are amazing in this North Country weather. From snow (6f) to sleet and lots of rain. Very very comfortable and very warm. I recommend those boots to anybody that is looking for a comfortable warm military boot.

I am retired military. These are the best cold-weather boots I have ever worn. Light weight. Warm. Shock-absorbative. I removed the footbeds (nothing wrong with them) and replaced them with Sorbothane insoles for greater rebound, because my joints can't take the pounding they handled when I was a younger trooper. Stop shopping. I did the research. These are the solution.

I bought these for working in the field in upstate NY. Over the past week I've spent roughly 30 hours outdoors with them with temperatures down in the teens at night. I've put them to work in shin-knee deep snow, moving up to 5 miles at a time with and without snowshoes, and have made creek crossings in them. I'm happy to report that the boots kept my feet incredibly warm and dry with a single layer of wool sock. For reference, the previous set of gore-tex boots I was using required two sets and my feet were still ice cold, even while moving. I've also negotiated icy cliff faces with them and the grip is great. Finally, I have a wide forefoot and ordered a 13W (13 is true to size for me)--these are among the most comfortable boots that I own, and I own quite a few pairs. They feel ever so slightly large, maybe by a quarter to a half a size, but comfortably so. All of the above is considering these boots were brand new out of the box and taken into the field the next day. The were not broken in at all. No discomfort or hotspots to speak of, which is amazing.
TL;DR: These boots rock.

Got these boots at Christmas time and have wore them everyday for work and they were comfortable the first time I put them on and my feet never got cold or wet. My opinion they are great and I will always own them

I bought these boots because I live in upstate NY where we sometimes get 190 feet of snow per winter. I already own other Merriell boots but they are only ankle length and just aren't warm enough. GorTex really adds warmth and waterproofing. I love these boots and highly redommend.

Rather comfortable, fit is true to size, soul has good traction, color is correct for US army and US air force uniform.

Great boots! Had an early snowfall and these Merrell boots kept my feet warm and dry. They are very comfortable. And with my wide width, toes were not shrunched up at all.

I practically live in these in the winter. Great boot for the woods, around town, or the jobsite. Just the right amount of insulation to stay warm outside, but not too much when indoors.

Best, lightest, most comfortable, and sub-zero warm!!! I have hiked miles with this from the first day I've owned them, whether indoors using casinos during heavy rains, or with my dog across boggy, rocky, slippery hiking trails, and these boots are fantastic!!! Although I bought them 3 months ago, I waited till now to submit my review until I had sufficiently cold weather to test the Thermo part of the boot. At 4 below zero this morning, went on an outdoor hike for an hour, couldn't have been more comfortable!!

After returning another brand of boots that were too long, not wide enough, too stiff, I took the chance on the Merrells, and so glad I did! I normally wear a size 12 wide, and was glad to see they had a wide option for this boot. I know that if I had not chosen wide, they would have been too tight. After years in the Navy wearing Boondockers, I couldn't believe these were so light! Immediately wore them for a mile and a half indoor walk, no breaking In required, felt great! Could feel the warmth of the insulation, but it wasn't oppressive (I was indoors around 70 degrees). Outside at 30 degrees they felt perfectly at home, as well as hiking trails with the dog. Have worn them with both regular as well as thick socks, feel perfect. Waiting for snow to test them in that environment.

Its a good work boot for wider feet, only have about 40 hours in them but comfortable from the first time I put them on. My feet have been warm and dry. The wider size allows thicker socks and better moister control.

Typical high quality for Merrell. Would love to find lace in zippers that match the eyelets.

My husband usually gets the regular MQC 2 boot and saw the Thermo and wanted to try them out. He said they are extremely comfortable and very warm. Swears by Merrell for his work boots.

I. BOUGHT these boots for winter hiking and winter kayaking. I've had them out in the water twice so far in 32 degree air temp and 45 degree water temp, so far I am very impressed. The comfort and warmth and waterproofing is what I bought them for as I usually am kayaking for 4 to 5 hours straight. I can't wait to try them out when the temp is way below zero and I use them for snow removal at work. When I am shoveling snow, I am outside for 6 to 8 hours straight. I do not anticipate any issues and will write back when I get to try them in ice cold conditions. I plan to kayak all winter in these boots in Northern Indiana. I would recommend these to anyone who needs comfort most of all and well insulated and waterproofing. I'm 64 and my feet have had a hard life but these boots so far are well worth the price

These boots really are great. Rugged, supportive, exceptionally warm, and 1000% waterproof. They flat out don't leak! I stood in 7" of flowing stream water just to test them. Not a drip! I guess the only gripe I have is the 400 grams of insulation. It's just a bit too much for these boots. It's not needed. 200 grams max with the gore-tex booty would have been sufficient. The key is the gore-tex. That's the MUST HAVE! Not the insulation. Your feet are gonna get hot, and sweat bad if outside temps are above 45 degrees. The boot fit is true to size. I'm a land surveyor in Maryland and walk a lot. Would def buy again, but would only be able to wear consistently when outside temps are cold enough.

Boots are doing just what I wanted. Riding my bicycle every day 19 degrees 12 degree wind chill. Feet staying warm. 4 stars because they're hard to lace. Wish they had hooks instead of eyelets.

Very comfortable and warm for a winter hike / my work boots but very dissatisfied with the lack of grip they offer on wet rock or ice/snow.

They were decently warm in 30-40 degree weather. If it dips below freezing you will need very good thick socks or your issued cold weather inserts. The second thing is that you will need to re-treat the suede with water-proofing spray or other method. After two weeks of snow and freezing rain they started to slowly become wet on the outside and inside.

I'm used to wearing boots for the Army but for some reason these boots make my feet hurt so bad. I'm a size 10.5 but I normally have to go a half size up . With the insoles inside my feet feel like they are fractured. I have to remove the insoles to make them more comfortable. I don't know if it's just not wide enough or if it's possible arch support problem. My right foot is bigger than my left ; but my left foot is the one in pain

Felt good at home when I tried them on but when I started wearing them at work I noticed right away how flat bottomed they felt. Walking on concrete or pavement my feet started getting sore. I work in a cooler so I get insulated boots. These come in the 400 gram insulation which is what I normally get in a boot but for some reason my toes get cold quicker than usual in these. They're nice and light and I like the big loops on the back for pulling them on but for work these are terrible for my feet.
