So far I love this coat! So very warm and lightweight! I am a size large in all other LL Bean items, and a Large is perfect for me even with a wool layer then a fleece layer under the coat with plenty of range of motion in my arms!

This jacket is amazing -- at first I thought it might be too thin....but it has proved itself to be a great jacket. I purchased both this one and the Women's Ultralight 850 Down Big Baffle Hooded Puffer Jacket so I could compare them. I noticed this jacket is wind proof while the the Puffer Jacket is not. I live in Colorado and the wind can be wicked in the mountains. This jacket is rated "warmer" (but it's windproof) while the Puffer jacket is "warmest" but NOT WINDPROOF. So far "warmer" and wind proof are serving me well. The only other thing is the internal chest pocket (zipper) is on the right side. The Puffer jacket has the internal zipper pocket on the left. I prefer the zipper on my left, but I'll adjust. Also.... I got the jacket in "Deep Lagoon" and it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I'm finding this jacket very comfortable and versatile. It's light weight yet warm. And if I get too warm, it's easy to ball up and stuff in my backpack. I bought a size larger than usual so I could comfortably wear a fleece layer underneath. I really appreciate the interior pocket as a safe place to carry my phone or valuables. I've worn this jacket almost daily since purchase. No regrets.

I was so excited to get this coat today. It's 36, cloudy and WINDY today. I wore a hooded cotton sweatshirt and this coat. You can definitely tell that it blocks the wind altogether. It is lightweight, but was very warm. The only time I was really cool on the two mile walk today was when the wind was coming straight at my face on the way back. I was cool, but not cold. So, for me, in the 20s, I need to add one more layer of something, but with the hood up and just a cotton sweatshirt and this coat, walking two dogs on a farm, I was fine. I ordered a medium and I'm wondering if I could have gotten a small and been fine. I have really broad shoulders so usually in other brands, I need a large, but definitely a medium in this one. I did a TON of research online and this is the best buy for goose down at this weight. The only tie was a high end women's hunting coat which had the same fill but was $50 more, so I went with this one and am happy.

This has been my go to jacket during this Maine winter. It is comfortable (roomy enough for a sweater underneath), light, but quite warm. It is easy to pack and takes up little room. I wear it to work, for errands, and to nordic ski and hike. Very happy with my purchase. So far it seems durable.

Haven't been cold since I bought this jacket - do have to wear thermal shirt & light wool sweater with it at 25 degrees. It fits well, really like the hood too. Haven't been in a pouring rain but it sheds water in a light drizzle. It's my first goose down jacket and I hope it lasts for years like my other LLBean jackets.

I have this jacket in XL black from a few years ago (without hood) but this year it was too big and too roomy around the neck. I bought the bluishishp one in L with a hood and I love it. It's so lightweight, yet warm, and it fits really well. I love the color. I returned the Crimson for the blue one since I did not like the color of the Crimson once it arrived. I would recommend this jacket. I have-not washed it yet so not sure how it will be after washing.I am glad I got the hooded version.

Living in the Pacific Northwest, it's important to have a hooded, waterproof jacket. This coat fits the bill. It's very warm - too warm for many days here, but great for the days when the temperature drops, or just cool and very damp. The fit is a little large on me - I'm able to fit a thin fleece vest under it, over a long sleeve T shirt layer. I have fairly wide shoulders and a DD cup size. I have full range of motion of my arms and back in this coat. I might be able to go down a size, but prefer to have it a little big with freedom to move, than a jacket that is too snug. The petite length is perfect.

I have had the 850 without the hood for a few years and love it. So when the hooded style was one sale, I splurged on a new one. It seems to run a little larger than my old one. I am still sitting the fence on whether to keep it exchange for an x-small. But the color is gorgeous. It is listed as "crimson" but to me, it looks copper-like a shiny new penny. I look forward to wearing this for years to come.

This is the warmest jacket I own- I can go on daily NH walks below freezing and my core is nice and toasty. It feels like wearing a sleeping bag and sometimes I'll wear it inside when I'm trying to fight a chill, it's so easy to wear.

I have been an LLBean customer for many years and this is the first time I have taken the time to write a review. I absolutely LOVE this jacket! I have another 850 down jacket (which I've had for a couple of years) and I really love it as well, but I needed a jacket with a hood. I walk about 1-1/2 miles every day and sometimes with the wind, my neck and head (even with a hat) would get too cold. This jacket is perfect. I walked today, 32 degrees w/20-30 mph winds, gusting to 40-50 mph, and was completely comfortable with only a t-shirt underneath (but it is plenty roomy; could wear a sweater underneath). The coat zips up to my chin, so with the hood up, my neck and head are completely covered and warm. I just can't say enough good things about this fabulous jacket! Buy it, you won't regret it!

I bought this jacket for my 93-year-old mother! She wanted something lightweight, but warm. She absolutely loves it. I would definitely recommend this coat.

I ordered a petite medium. It fits very well. I've worn it in 20 degree weather in Upper Michigan. Even with a cold wind I felt no chill. I particularly appreciated the hood which fits snugly -not tight- and blocks the wind very effectively. And, it is an attractive jacket which is where I always start.

As a Florida girl who loves 90 degree weather, this jacket was a lifesaver up in the Georgia Mountains in January! I didn't take it off for three days straight on the AT while hiking and camping overnight through constant wind and snow flurries. This jacket did an excellent job of keeping me warm and comfortable. It fits me wonderfully - I can wear it by itself or even with a wool sweater underneath it still fit perfectly and is so soft and comfy. Packed down very nicely in my pack. The Juniper color is beautiful and it is flattering enough to wear around town, not just in the woods. This jacket is the best, I highly recommend it!

I bought this for my wife for Christmas. Initially when she opened it, she thought it would be too light for the Rhode Island winters. When she wore it the first time she was pleasantly surprised at how warm it was. We are pleased with this jacket.

I just received this jacket. It fits great. Very attractive design/style/color. I like that the hood has a bit of a little overjet to protect my glasses. I tried it on with a merino wool base layer and LLBean sweater fleece and had plenty of room to move easily. I love the royal plum color; it's gorgeous. Pockets are generous and placed just right! Good job LLBean! This is a keeper!

Comfortable, great for walking around town in a wide range of weather conditions. Nice looking, great details, and the crimson is a wonderful winter color, not too bright, stylish but cheerful.

Definitely my go to jacket this winter! Fits perfect and true to size, very comfortable and I like the option of using the hood. On my daily walk early in the am (20-30F temps) I I am toasty! I would highly recommend purchasing if you are thinking about it. Kudos to LL Bean for producing such quality products! Thank you from a Very Satisfied customer!

I was looking for a lightweight; warm; colorful jacket; with a hood. I read the description of this jacket in the LL Bean catalogue, and it sounded perfect! I ordered the jacket, and was thrilled when it arrived! It is 'better than perfect!' Great fit; gorgeous color; lightweight and warm; ample hood; deep pockets. High quality materials, including zipper. I highly recommend this product!

Am very pleased with this jacket. Needed a new one and wanted a hood. I walk, even when it's cold and wanted to have the option of a hood. The down keeps me warm but seems to adjust so I don't get too hot. Jacket is super comfortable, I can wear a vest or fleece underneath and it still works well, it's flattering, and a beautiful color - peacock teal.
