I like the jacket. It's extremely light and just as the write says, you should plan on wearing layers. I will say it is absolutely perfect for shoveling snow.

Jacket is comfortable on 30-50 degree cool days. Its very light and packs into itself a big plus. However it is not designed to be worn all by itself, you need a couple of layers if you are to wear it on a colder day say in the 20's. I would not wear this jacket when its bitterly cold below 20 degrees and windy.

I am between a petite M & petite L. This coat fit better on top, sl too large from waist down. Since I often wear multiple layers, I am keeping this petie Large. Some said coat isn't warm enough, I still need to try it outdoors in rain. The hood fit well too. I have 2 Bean jackets like this without hoods, shorter in length, petite medium. They're my go-to jackets. I love the lightweight design. Sleeve length sl long, but I just roll them under. Coat flares out sl at waist-not sure about that, but decided it looked more fashionable that way. I am now an apple shape, athletic, 10 lbs over what I figure would be my new normal at age 65, so the coat gives me some shape & doesn't hang like a sack. Blue is my favorite color-this lighter blue is pretty. Clothes never look the same on me as they do on the models, but my size is pretty consistent. I see lots of Bean jackets around here on Cape Cod.

I love it, but not for the use I had hopped. I was trying to get a warm jacket, but this is more of a fall and spring jacket, not a good warm jacket for when it is very cold.

Let me start by saying this is a very nice looking coat. As advertised and true to other reviews, sizing is pretty accurate. One would wonder why I gave this coat only 3 stars....well, because it isn't nearly as warm as advertised. Is it me or does anyone else feel that the quality of llbean products has really diminished over the past few years? Can't go by temperature ranges or reviews. Sadly, being returned. More like a Spring/Fall coat.

I ordered this for a light weight jacket that was also warm. I love the jacket but it is not as warm as I expected. I love the color and fit but I have to wear lots of layers. If I had it to do over I would buy a jacket a little heavier so it would be warm with out so many layers .

LL Bean is my favorite retailer for almost everything. In my book they rank at the top and there is no better. That being said when I needed a good winter hiking coat, I went straight to LL Bean. What I love: lightweight, packable, comfortable and warm without bulk(as long as you are moving), the compactness allows complete free range of motion needed to pull yourself up the rocky trail or slow yourself when sliding down the sand dune, zipper is fabulous and I love the outside chest zip pocket. Only one small disappointing fact: I wore this on a trail while hiking in northern MI. I must have gotten caught in brush because it ripped. Sad.Knowing the rip will worsen if not fixed I called customer service at LL Bean. They told me to fix this hole with tenacious tape. So I bought the tape and applied it. Sadly this coat is no longer useable for hiking-which is THE REASON I BOUGHT IT!! The tenacious tape is on the hole, but is beginning to curl at the edges. I still really love this coat. It would be good for walking the dogs at a metro park. But this is NOT FOR HIKING! Sadly, I went to a competitor and purchased a new hiking coat. LL Bean, I am disappointed. But, no one is perfect-I get it.

Jacket was wonderful but too small through shoulders. Returned it for a larger size.

I loved LOVED this jacket! Loved the color, loved the fit, loved the design, loved the pockets, loved how light it was and would be easy to pack. NO issues with the length of the sleeves. They are a bit long, but there is an elastic around the wrist which kept it at the ideal length. I also had no issues with the hood as it came above my eyebrows and did not interfere with vision or sunglasses. I really, REALLY wanted this coat to work! However, it just wasn't warm enough. I gave it a good try, even with layering, but I was cold. There was no way I could see myself using this coat to replace my older version LLBean ski jacket. If you are looking for something to wear in between seasons or you use it where the temp doesn't go below the high 20's, low 30's you should be all set. Otherwise, I don't see this working in the lower ranges that this coat is advertised for. I regrettably, returned it for a coat with a warmer rating and I noticed a significant difference.

I really like my jacket. It is packable and perfect for vacations. However, I would suggest layering under it if you will be somewhere under 40 degrees. The hood is great and fits me well and won't get blown off. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is the zipper. It takes a lot more effort than normal to pull the zipper up without having it derail and have to redo it.

I work outside as a forester and am always looking for warm outerwear with a good fit. I've got a long torso and this coat fits well. I can easily wear a wool jacket underneath for more warmth. Not the thickest jacket so not my go to for wintertime but will definitely use it as a layer. Nice color too.

On the Web side it says this jacket is rated to 35 with moderate activity. I tried it out on a short walk on a day when the temperature was about 35. I wore a light sweater and turtleneck under the jacket. I did not find that it kept me warm during the walk. I return the jacket because I was looking for something that was light weight and a bit warmer. It was well-made, fit very well.

Woman's PrimaLoft jacket had to be returned because it just fit across the bust. I would like to wear it with a heavier layer for Winter travel. This jacket would feel too restrictive. No longer is sold in a 1X which would give more room.

I ordered this jacket online, something I normally do not like to do. But after researching and reading reviews I decided to give it a try. I received it fast, as usually when I order from Beans. I tried the jacket on, and at first I thought, I could go down a size. But I put on my mid weight layer, like suggested, and took my dogs for a walk. The was better when I added my layers. It is in the 30s right now at night here in VT. I was excited to find that the wind was blocked and I wasn't wishing to turn around as soon as I normally would, my dog actually forced me to go back home. The hood fit nicely, and even allowed room for my headlamp and hat. The pockets are spacious. The zippers are awesome. I love that I can pack it into the pocket and pack it away when packing for future camping trips.

I had to return this because of fit. The jacket itself was light and packable but also very warm. This is definitely a quality jacket, but the fit was so unflattering. Very boxy. I'm 5'7", 150lbs, and the large was gigantic. I could have sized down to a medium and it probably would have technically fit, but I think the shape still would have made me look like a marshmallow.

This is a very attractive and trim jacket, but I'm undecided as whether to keep it. I like the colors, the slimming quilting pattern, and the bottom-of-hip length. A cold weather jacket should be long enough to keep your body warm. The sizing seems true, but perhaps not generous enough to wear very thick layers underneath. The sleeves are a little longer than most LLB petites on me but are okay. However, the elasticized hood drops down below my eyebrows and won't stay farther up because of the elastic, resulting in a mummy look. There is no collar; the hood is sewn to the neckline, which is okay but unusual. I love the three deep zip pockets. The area over the chest pocket has no quilting in the outer layer, making that one smooth area over one breast look a little strange. My top concern is that the jacket is almost paper thin, thinner than my other packable Primalofts which aren't extremely warm. (Buying for a future trip to Maine.) The weather here is in the 70's right now and I can't test it for warmth. The fit of the hood and the high price (even with promo) are negative factors; the extreme thinness might be a fantastic positive but I can't tell yet. IF the temperature ratings are accurate, this is an amazing jacket, and I could live with the hood issues. I'm not going to remove the tags yet and will hope for some colder weather to test it.

I received this jacket in Black/X-large as a gift and was skeptical about whether it could keep me warm since it is very lightweight. Wore it on a 23 degree day and surprisingly, the cold did not penetrate at all! It has very deep pockets that eliminate the need for me to carry a purse and I especially love that there's an earbud portal on the inside. Plus, I had room to wear a hoodie underneath and the sleeves were still long enough. I'm also happy with the jacket's length as it covers most of my tush and has pull cords to make the bottom snug enough to keep the elements out. Overall, I love it and would give it 5 stars if the hood had draw strings and a hide away collar.

This coat is not quite as warm as I had hoped for but works fine once it is layered. I got the ?teal color and it is really nice and unique. I love the light weight of this jacket and do not regret buying it.

I have the previous version of this jacket in multiple colors, some with hood and some without. I am really happy that they added an external chest pocket - that was the one feature I thought would make it perfect. However, the sizing has changed. As other reviews have mentioned, it is longer than the old model. For me, it was a bit longer than preferred. But for me it also now runs a full size larger. I bought the large regular and I feel like I am swimming in it. Unfortunately the color I like is back ordered in all sizes, so I had to buy the non-hooded version in a medium petite (I'm 5'7"!) and it is much better. I plan on returning the large, but I'm probably going to have to settle for a different color.

I love the warmth from the lightweight coat. I also love the way it packs. But i do not like the hood. There is no drawstring or tie to close it tightly around you face. The hood opening is so big it comes doen over my eyes so the hood is an annoyance. Without a drawstring, i wish i had bought the version without a hood.

I really wanted to like this jacket, but it did not work well for me. I am built like a rectangle rather than an hourglass, and this jacket is close-fitting and built for an hourglass figure. It was not flattering at my waist. All the other garments I bought in my size fit appropriately, but not this piece. That being said, it packs very nicely into its breast pocket, and it has a hood that protects against the wind.

One size = the forearms too tight( that's never happened before). The next size is swimmingly big, but the forearms fit. Lovely Juniper color, just the right weight for most of winter. Sadly returned both. That was easy.

I bought this for a trip to Yellowstone. It was light and easy to pack, but also kept me warm on the cold mornings and cold nights. Easy to stuff in my backpack during the day.

Unfortunately a little too snug in my usual medium size. Loved the color and style and the large was too big and looked shapeless on. So it was returned.
