This was s good "second" to the LLBesn 850 down jacket I had to replace. I am DEFINITELY missing the left breast pocket I had with my older jacket. Also, not a big fan of the stitching on the body of this new style compared to my thinner, more feminine stitching

I have a couple of these down sweaters. They function as a sweater with the ease of wear of a jacket. Sadly, this year the stitching pattern is different and they also run larger. My usual size medium fits me like an oversized man's jacket. Worse, the colors are funky. Ordered the muted purple and it's a very drab faded navy, like blue fabric that has been horribly sun bleached. Returning it.

It looks great and is easily packable for travel. The downside is that even with 850 goose down, it's still not as warm as my previous 850 fill jacket. In cold weather, you will still need another layer over or under it to be warm.

I bought this jacket in late March, and wore it a few times as winter came to an end. Now I am packing for a trip to Alaska and just discovered a flaw in the manufacture. The Stowaway pocket (stuff storage) was sewn partially into the jacket side seam, This reduces the available size of the stuff pocket so much that it can't be used. I've had plenty of jackets and raincoats that store in their own pockets--I do know how it works. This one doesn't. So I have to scrounge up an external stuff sack (very limited space in the bush plane). An inconvenience, so check the functionality of the stowaway pocket as soon as you get one of these jackets if this is important to you.

This is probably a fine sweater but not what I expected - more like the paper jacket in the doctor's exam room. Well made, and I'm sure with more layers under and over it would play a part in retaining body heat, but it just didn't make me feel warm at all when I put it on. Not $220 LLBean outerwear in my opinion. I returned it.

Little too lightweight for me. Also I find I prefer a coat that I have a choice of buttons and/or zipper

Really didn't work for me. I am just 5'1" and even a petite is an odd fit. Sent it back!

This jacket is well made. Purchased this for cooler pre winter weather. It's ranked "Warmer", yet the "sweater" rating was confusing.. It's definitely more of a sweater - too light for 30-40 degree temps when a winter coat is too heavy/warm. LLBean's sweater fleece is comparable and far less expensive.

The tags inside rubbed balls on my cashmere sweaters.

I like the look and design of the jacket, but LL Beans sizing is crazy. I am a small person and I usually wear a small, very seldom do I wear an XS. But in the LL Bean world I had to order an XXS and it is still a little roomy. I have plenty of room to wear a sweatshirt underneath if I would like. Crazy sizing, not sure who their models are.

Perfect color perfect fit beautiful pockets with zippers perfect length. However, I still felt cold in 40 weather. I think this new send down that's the rage does not work like the old down. What a shame.

I know this 850 fill down sweater jacket would have been perfect if it had fit because my husband has the men's version- he wears it all the time in our 66 degree house and as a layer outdoors. The women's Large fit well everywhere except the arm movement was too restrictive. I returned and exchanged for an X-LARGE but that was way too large everywhere. I have the Bean's 850 jacket in a Large and it fits well with no problems - love it. The sweater jacket fit was a disappointment because I am ready to replace a 12 year old one from a different company.

Nice jacket but expensive for the product. I bought the 14/16which is too big for me. I'm a 14. Wish they made jackets in single sizes. I am returning it.

I bought this after buying one for my husband last year: he really likes the light weight, packability and versatility of the down sweater. However, I'm disappointed by the fit, which is much too large (I ordered a small). I like the light weight warmth, and the way it packs into a pocket, but the sizing is off. I will return it for a smaller size.

Comfortable but not warm. Does a decent job blocking wind. Convenient for travel, although travel pouch is a bit too small so difficult to get jacket inside

I purchased this jacket in a PS - my 4th jacket/ coat purchase from LL Bean in a year. The sleeves are a full inch longer than all of the other garments and the body is an inch wider. Odd. The jacket is also stiff and squeaky compared to my other down jacket. I'm exchanging for a PS just in case. Faded purple color is very nice.

I bought the Light Rosewood and it's nothing like on my screen . . . this jacket is a mauve color -- not my favorite at all (add a bit of purple and a bit of gray). And it runs a whole size too large. I typically wear a XL in Bean jackets (like the short sherpa fleece jacket) and this one is large overall -- sleeve length, body width, shoulders just look huge and lumpy. Also, it's very light weight. So buy down a size and I think you'll be happier. Too bad about the color -- I love a true rose color; this is not it!

I have one from years ago that is black with red trim; also zippered pocket on front.. Love it! Wear constantly Also bought more current version in Night.. Rarely on my body.. The pocket on the front was a much better choice and also trim makes this work!

This jacket looks great on everyone. I have purchased it for myself and several family members. Unfortunately, after 2 years of normal wear and tear, the seams start to come apart and it loses feathers.

I absolutely love the jacket. But, for the price the zipper needs to be so much better. Maybe it's because I have an older version , but I exchanged the first one because the zipper broke. The zipper on my second one has had problems, but is now broken. I'll probably be buying another, but for the price the zipper should be higher quality

This jacket is nice but not quite right on me. The fit through the body is fine, but the sleeves are too full and large, "Michelin Man" style. I have an old, very well-warn version of this (with the previous style's straight channel stitching) that needs to be replaced, but unfortunately this doesn't do it.

So I bought this expensive coat because I really was tired of not having a warm jacket for being outside and because it looked so nice. And although I love the jacket and it is VERY warm. It just isn't durable. It's extremely disappointing that you can only wear this jacket if you are walking in a wide open area where there is nothing that brushes against it and tears it. Do NOT think of wearing it hiking or skiing or anything like that. LL Bean used to be synonymous with durability but I guess that concept was tossed out the window. I literally only wore the jacket when driving, showing homes (I'm a realtor) and playing frisbee with my dog. I haven't done any hiking with it so I don't recall what on earth I could have bumped into that cause it to tear but it's torn and the down is coming out. If the jacket can be torn that easily, it just isn't worth the money. Truly disappointing that it can't be used for outdoor activity.

The top on this jacket is waay too large - it is designed for someone with a thick neck, very wide shoulders and back, and a large chest. I write this as someone with broad shoulders, a narrow frame and a 39" bust. It fits the widest part of my hips, but then flares out, so it looks loose there. If I could go to a store, I would try a Small, and a Petite Medium. But I don't want to go through a bunch of orders and returns when the size chart says I'm a perfect Medium. It would be perfect for my winter in southern Europe - IF it had style and fit properly.

Small regular was just too big. Tried the X small on in the store and it wasn't right either. I wanted to love it, but I just didn't feel good in it.
