Bought this coat for a last minute vacation to an area with forecasted sub-zero temperatures, where we planned to be outdoors for extended periods. I figured I needed a 3/4 length puffy coat. This coat was perfect, and coupled with over jeans with an underlayer, hat, gloves and snow boots, this coat kept me toasty warm over just a sweater and undershirt. Easy to get gloves on/off, easy to put hands in pocket, or pull hood over my knit cap. I was exceptionally pleased with the warmth, style and functionality - and even more impressed at this price point.

Very stylish and warm with adjustable waist for a more fitted or looser look.

I am outside in cold, windy Maine winters all the time and so critical of winter clothing. This is by far the best parka I have had in over 40 years. Excellent value, well thought out design and so well made. A few necessary details - the loft is warm but not cumbersome; length keeps me warm and, I believe, also traps warmth; inside zip body pocket easy to reach; side pockets are deep and warm with snaps to secure mittens, etc, and each side pocket has a zip inside pocket! The very warm hood is detachable; collar on parka is just right height -keeps out wind, but doesn't interfere with hats. The front zipper will loosen up once used a few times. It's big and easy to work with gloves on. And - tah dah - this is a nicely cut, pretty stylish parka. I get complements on how good it looks. Thanks you Beans!

It's a wonderful jacket for many reasons! I got it for walking because it provides warmth without weight or bulk! The fit is true to size, and is very comfortable to wear. We live in a windy, cold area, and I like the fit around the neck when zipped up- tight enough, but, not too tight. The hood is comfortable and easy to slip on and off. The extra length makes it superior to many other jackets,

Very nice! So warm! Nice looking! I went a size down, to a small, and it fits great, with a little extra room even. I'm 5'7" and 130. The zipper needs a little babying.

It's the perfect cold weather coat. The one thing that I was counting on was that I need warmth without bulk and it's exactly that. Best purchase I made this year.

This coat with great it's warm with it without layers. Fits perfect , maybe a tad big but not by much. Just enough room I can wear a sweatshirt with it and still move and not feel tight. I would so buy another.we are getting into the negatives in temp and this coat seriously is warm

The best down jacket I have ever bought.. and I have bought many! It looks great, is super warm, has a hood, zippers easily, lots of pockets, it's fantastic.

I love this jacket! It is warm, comfy and the perfect length. I had to size down. First tried small, had to return for extra small. I'm 5'3 and 120lbs.

This is an excellent coat. Every time I wear it, I reflect on how awesome it is in several ways: 1) It's warm without feeling bulky or "suited up." As a curvy woman, I appreciate the definition in the waist area so that I don't feel like I'm wearing a sleeping bag. 2) The coat has a lot of "no-brainer" features in the right places: interior zip pocket, pockets with two layers of storage (one open, another secured with zip closure), lovely brown textured zipper pulls that elevate the style. I'd love some hand warmer pockets but honestly, not a deal breaker for me, and the lack of hand warmer pockets means the waist definition can happen more seamlessly within this jacket design. Fine trade off as far as I'm concerned. 3) Great length that permits full movement and awesome coverage against the cold (it covers your bum). 4) Coat is fine in sleet and rain. No "heavy" feeling when wet. Nicely repellent! All in all, this is the best go-to cold weather coat I've purchased in a while. For the price, it's a great value, too. Don't hesitate to purchase!

Forget the "Awesome". The coat is exactly what I needed. I've been wearing a similar coat for years. I think this one will be better. I wasn't sure if I should choose the smaller size or not. I think the smaller size would have worked, but this way I have a little more room. P.S. I have 2 L.L.Bean jackets that have to be 50 yrs. old. Hiked a lot in my earlier years. Still wearing the 2 jackets.

This is a perfect jacket for me for all around use. I wanted something roomy enough to wear a heavy sweater underneath. So I bought a size larger then my usual size. Then I chose the petite because the larger size would be too long in the sleeves for me. This one is great.

After researching and reviewing LLBean's insulated outerwear selection as well as other outdoor-centric sales sites, I am SO HAPPY to have chosen this jacket! So few manufacturers think about plus size women when designing their apparel but Bean, thankfully, does. The jacket fits exceptionally well, even with a heavier sweater, and I don't feel like an overstuffed helium balloon! The two-way zipper was a must for me and this one does not disappoint nor is it difficult to use despite being a left-sided pull up. The pockets are not small in my opinion, unlike comments made by others in their reviews. The hood is fairly large and a bit bulky for everyday wear, but it can be easily removed. I love the blue color, the arms are a perfect length, and the overall length of the jacket is great, almost mid-thigh which will keep me adequately warm, too, when walking around for any length of time. If you are hesitant to purchase a down jacket, thinking it's way too bulky for your figure, don't! This one is truly the best I've seen and I'm thrilled to have taken the gamble. Get it before it sells out!!

I like my parka because it is warm, just the right weight, and good looking! It is roomy enough when wearing layers underneath. The front flap with snaps is convenient when zipping up isn't necessary.

I Love, love! That's all I have to say! This is the warmest jacket, looks great too. Purchase a size smaller than you normally would. I actually had to go 2 sizes down.

I originally purchased the regular XL because I REALLY wanted the dark blue color. I do not know my exact measurements so an XL was my best guess and the "true fit" size that LL Bean offered me. I wear a 42 G bra so my chest is on the larger sized. The XL was way too snug in the chest making my armpits tight whenever I needed to reach for something. I was really hoping that the next size up- 1X in plus, would fit and it totally does! My chest has plenty of room and I can move my arms without feeling I am going to rip the armpits out. It is nice and long so I imagine it is going to keep me super warm once things really start to get cold in my area. I ended up with the burgundy color since the blue was out in my size and I have no complaints! Over all a super good quality coat it feels super thick and nice. Having it on in my home for just a few minutes with few layers on and I already feel overheated lol

Amazingly comfortable. Usually coats like this are tight across the shoulders for me and restrict my ability to reach forward. Not this one! Like a warm puffy blanket I can wear. And I have all the freedom of movement I need

Great fit, super warm & stylish! There are internal zip pockets at the hip so you can safely keep keys/wallet/phone while also having dedicated warm pockets for your hands.

Love the warmth compared to my LL Bean light weight 850 fill coat which was beginning to lose feathers after about 5+ years. It keeps me absolutely warm and blocks the wind. Hood is big enough to go over my snow hat if needed on windy days. I may still wear my lighter longer jacket when I'm dressed up as long as I'm not spending too much time outside. In Boston suburbs. I'm 5'7 and about 170 lbs - the large is perfect because I tend to wear bulky wool sweaters over other layers, but if I didn't need those layers I would have gone with a medium.

Great Coat! I get lots of compliments on it - I bought a MP but easily could have purchased SP. Green color is wonderful.

Love this jacket! It's super flattering and has cute details with the buttons, zipper pulls, and LL bean logo. It's kept me warm on all the cold December Utah evenings I've taken it out in. Very impressed with the quality, style, and warmth factor! Will definitely be purchasing more LL bean clothing in the future!

Love this coat. I wanted something warm, a bit longer than a regular coat and stylish. When I first got it though, it smelled terrible - like a wet dog and body odor. I washed it according to the tag directions twice and thoroughly dried it in the dryer both times. Then I hung it up with charcoal bags in the pockets to absorb any lingering smells. Now it smells totally fine! I'm glad I got rid of the smell, because I wouldn't have been able to keep it if that didn't go away.

So far, I'm very pleased with this parka. It fits great and keeps me warm. I like the drawstring in the waist for a fitted look. My favorite feature is the zipper pockets within the hand pockets. I keep my phone and keys zipped up in those and don't have to worry about them falling out when I take my hands or mittens out!

I love my new coat !!! at last I am warm in the cold wind up here in Maine. I have a little westie that I walk most days of the week who is a bundle of energy so it is imperative that I walk her and at last I can in comfort.

Favorite winter coat so far. Super warm, loose enough to wear sweaters and sweatshirts.
