Very light weight, but extremely warm. Great for mild winter weather in the 40s and also excellent for temperatures in the 20s and below. This jacket has become my go to all around winter jacket.

Lightweight with a good goose down 850 fill, it is cozy and warm down to the 30s even with just a t-shirt underneath. I have another down fill jacket from a reputable company that starts with P and it's a mid weight goose down fill jacket (500-650) which I find is good down to low 50s with a long sleeve cotton shirt underneath and the jackets is the slightest bit heavier but not by much. This LL Bean 850 fill is solid and really light weight. Would recommend.

I love this jacket! It's the most versatile jacket I own. Never too hot and never too cold.

A year ago I bought us both these down sweaters in black. We both love them, and today, again, he mentioned to me that it's his favorite jacket for taking walks. He says it's the right weight (we live in western Washington state), very practical, and is glad I got it for him. I like the extra pocket, and that it folds into itself for packing, taking on trips.

I bought this to replace my fall jacket and I have to say, it does what's advertised and then some! For starters, the size (SM, Reg.) fits me (5'8" thin man) like a glove, exactly as advertised. The adjustable waist really help the jacket fit it close to your body, while the cuffs are tight enough to keep out cold, but loose enough that you can adjust them with minimal force (e.g., to check one's watch). For another, the jacket is *extremely light* (you can scarcely feel it on you), and yet it is undoubtedly very warm; I was able to weather sub-40F weather with it in Canada with just a t-shirt underneath easily, and I suspect that, with a sweater layered over my shirt, I could have been able to go well below even that. At the same time, I never once became sweaty while wearing the jacket in much warmer NY (around 60F), or even on the subway. I'm not sure if the design is breathable, but it certainly feels that way, especially compared to my older jacket with its "thermal reflective coating". One thing that I found annoying was that the jacket's form seemed to become slightly distorted when wearing a backpack; however, I toyed around with the waist bands a bit, and that seemed to fix the issue as much as possible (I was carrying a backpack heavier than a suitcase, so that one's partly on me). I also noticed a few (three) feathers coming out of the product... however, I've had down products before from various brands, and this is standard. So far, no big complaints and definitely worth the price (especially when compared to rival brands' products of the same or higher price).

This is an excellent fill weight jacket for someone looking for a shoulder season or mid-layer piece. It will not keep you warm below 30 f on its own for sedentary activities but I can see it being a nice walking around jacket well down to that temp range.

Love this sweater jacket! My current one is a few years old and still performing. About to go and buy my second just to have another color. Very warm by itself and great as a layer on very cold days. Usually wear it with just a t-shirt or golf shirt underneath and it is plenty warm. Love my LL Bean!

Light weight, warm and attractive! And, packable, too!

Great jacket, light but warm. Totally packable for easy transit. Puffiness shrinks down great into a suitcase for travel. Took on our trip to Banff. Performed great.

I am 5'10" 205 lbs and bought an XL down sweater and it fit nicely. Room to wear a sweatshirt underneath. Keeps you warm in 20 degree temperatures and windy conditions. I would recommend it to a friend.

Once again L. L. Bean hits one out of the park. This is perfect for chilly mornings and it's super lightweight. Despite modern science, nothing can beat genuine goose down, and this jacket uses certified 850 fill - the best. I bought a size Large Tall and I am 6' 2" and 180 pounds - the fit is perfect. This is my go-to jacket for those days when I'm only gonna wear it in the morning or early evening.

Exactly what I wanted, a jacket that can be worn almost anywhere. It fits great and is so light I can forget it is on. I do t get too hot or too cold it just keeps me comfortable.
