My husband has worn LL Bean size LT or XLT for many years. For a jacket, we always buy the XLT for a roomier fit. This jacket, size XLT was not roomy enough and the length was too short.

First and foremost, this jacket does not perform well in moderate to heavy rain. I was hoping to stay less expensive, but realize I need something better for Hawaii rain forests and PNW. Water initially pooled, but soon was soaking through. This jacket would be better strictly as a windbreaker with light rain, and a long sleeve layering underneath recommended.
I have found the "tall" is a must for my arm length, but the large was too big for my 185#/5'11" frame. Too bad the medium isn't available in a 34-35 sleeve.

Received this as a gift. Didn't have a chance to use in rain. I got extra large but this is extremely small through shoulders and the sleeves are tight there's no way any layer would fit under it other than a long sleeve T. If you have broad shoulders I'd pass on this. Maybe this has to do with trend of everything fitting tight but if I'm outdoors i want to be able to move!

I do not like the way this jacket fits around the arms. Way too tight and annoying. I also prefer buttons instead of Velcro I have found. It doesn't hold up or match quickly when I want it attached.

The jacket itself is a great color and is waterproof in the rain. The problem with this jacket is the size. I'm 6'3" and I struggle to find LL Bean sizes that fits my long arms. XL is typically too short and the XL Tall is too long in the waist and quite baggy in the mid section. If you're on the fence with sizes like me, don't buy.

Other than 2 main flaws, the performance was as expected. Kept me dry.
1st and foremost the hood, oh, the hood. With the hood on (and I'm not wearing a rain jacket if I don't need a hood plain and simple) It blocks all vision ahead beyond maybe 6 feet at most as it comes down over too much of my face. See attached pictures...
Next the zipper. The zipper works perfectly, but is impeded from functioning smoothly
by the velcro closures. This is especially difficult in removal for me, but also difficult
when I'm putting the jacket on. The velcro closures I thought would be a great back up plan
should the zipper fail, and they are more like maybe 1/4" x 1.5" velcro strips spaced out like buttons,
so at each "button" the velcro fights against what would otherwise be a smooth action zipper, up or down.

Disappointed. For what I paid I did not think the quality matched the price. This is the first product that I have been displeased with in the 40 plus years I have been buying from LL Bean.

I had high hopes for this rain jacket. In recent hot, rainy, windy weather - the day we had several tornadoes on Cape Cod - I was outside with several of my students working on our underwater robotics engineering project. Within minutes of the rain starting the jacket had become stuck to my arms, neck, shoulders and face. Moisture accumulated on the inside of the jacket - condensation, perspiration or rain - you end up wet whatever the cause - and the thing just gets stuck to you. The jacket is adequate as a wind breaker but provides no warmth due to the thinness of the fabric. I guess it might be good enough for use in the autumn or spring months if you pile on several extra layers underneath it to wick moisture away and provide warmth. Though I have been a satisfied, dedicated LL Bean customer for more than 50 years, I'm going to return it for credit.

Wore this jacket recently at a softball game . Was sitting in the rain hoping to stay dry. My arms and shoulders got soaked. Disappointed in the jacket.

This is a great coat for damp weather, but it is not even rain resistant. On even a misty bike ride, I am wet through the coat and in a downpour I am soaked. It does provide wind protection. Unfortunately I was also looking to stay a bit drier

This is a well made, well featured rain coat. However, after wearing it 3 times in the rain it fails to keep me dry - not even close. My arms are wet, my chest is wet. Frankly, I am baffled and also disappointed. Never had an LL Bean product let me down before.

I usually take an XL. I read the reviews and ordered the XXL. It fit ok but it is really too short for a rain coat. I am 6' 1". It was ok but anybody wearing a bulky sweater under it would feel it was too snug. It has a zipper but it has annoying & cheap Velcro tabs instead of handy snaps. Being so short, the side pockets are up high which makes it unpleasant to put ones hands in them. I am not sure why LL Bean is making outerwear so trim lately. I have jackets (with nice hefty snaps) I bought here 30 years ago that are XL and are roomy. I sent this raincoat back. I bought a parka a few years ago & had to order it in XXL. My shirts are all XL. Who is designing these things and why? Design things for tall, big Americans. Thank you.

Bought this jacket to replace the one that the lining is peeling away from the shell. I purchased my normal size and the fit is way too tight. I can hardly lift my arms up. Very disappointed and will be returning it.

I was very disappointed in this "jacket" because it really was only a windbreaker--very thin. I thought I was ordering a real jacket at $99, but it was not. The green color was nice though.

Tight fit around shoulders and chest. This was a regular large size, regular large LL Bean shirts have always fit me well.

I bought matching jackets for me and my husband to take to Europe. It rained on one of the days and these jackets were not waterproof at all. We were both soaked through, especially on our shoulders. There was a tiny bit of water resistance at first but these were definitely not rain jackets and I was embarrassed.

I bought one of these years ago and although not the best rain jacket, I'd say it was the best rain jacket for the money. I bought another one recently and it just isn't the same. It doesn't fit as well, has pockets that feel like they are too high or too low, and you can feel moisture work through the jacket in a matter of minutes when in rain. More of a windbreaker than rain jacket.

I have returned the rain jacket it was to small . I wear an XL so thats what i ordered and i even ordered XL tall so it would be longer. It was made to small the arm length was ok but it was short and not big enough and im not a thick guy the materials were thin an in my opinion that jacket is not worth the money

I purchased the older model of this jacket a few years ago for my wife and decided to get one for myself. The older model had pit zips, so I assumed that would be the case for the current model, but I was shocked to see this is not the case. No matter how "breathable" the newer model may be, there simply is no substitute for pit zips in terms of providing adequate ventilation during strenuous activities. This is MAJOR design flaw in the current model and I will not consider re-purchasing unless it is changed.

Zipper gets stuck several times when zipped up and several times again when being unzipped, Such a shame for otherwise nice rain jacket for the price. Unless thjat problem is fixed, I could not recommend it to anyone.
