I wear this vest all the time and wish I could afford to buy it in every color. I am a five foot 7 inches female, but I bought the Men's TALL extra large, because I like vests that are long enough to cover my rear end in cold weather. The women's vests just aren't long enough for my taste, so don't be afraid, Ladies, to buy the Men's vest and to order TALL. By purchasing it a size larger than I needed, I can wear the vest outside over a sweater in the wintertime. I don't understand why companies assume women want to wear vests that are tight across the chest and barely reach your hips! Listen up, LLBean -- how about making a line of women's fleece vests that are super roomy and LONG, so we can wear them over sweaters, and they will cover us fully for cold weather hiking? Until clothing companies wise up, don't hesitate to buy MENS and TALL to get what you need! I love the pockets in this vest -- I always keep a hair scrunchie in one pocket and Kleenex in the other, since I can always count on my nose running when cold weather hiking. The fleece fabric is soft and luscious! Buy several colors -- the white one is chic enough to wear to a nice restaurant over a blouse, and the black one, worn over a turtleneck or sweater, hides a world of sins for winter gardening chores, outdoor barbequeing and all-day hiking.

We ordered this vest for my husband to use in layering. He doesn't like fleece pullovers with sleeves because it's hard to get clothes on over the pullover - the sleeves stick to the clothes. This vest works fine.

This vest exudes quality. Feels good on. Looks good. It's warm but not binding. In a word...."classy."

I love vests and own a couple of well used fleece vests. I want a vest that zips up the front, has fleece but not too thick, and good quality cloth, and build. I use the vest as part of my layering during the winter for long walks and bicycle rides. I use a thin windbreaker over the layers and find that for our winters in the Sacramento region rarely do I need more than a long sleeved shirt to keep my arms warm under the vest and windbreaker. Very easy to tailor the needed insulation while using these types of vests.

I have had several of this model vest in past and like them all. After several years of regular use, the zipper often quits. I have had some replaced, which usually costs more than replacing the entire vest. If you can find someone to replace a zipper, can be a challenge.

Every year when you come out with new colors, I buy my husband another vest. These are the best! They are perfect year-round, the colors match the plaids perfectly, they don't pill. and they wash and dry beautifully. We do wish that you would offer a deep burgundy, a medium taupe brown, and a medium sage green. Also, soft heathered shades would be huge sellers. Everywhere we go in Maine, men are wearing the uniform; LL.Bean plaid shirts under Classic Fleece Vests. Keep new colors coming!
