Got this coat for my husband and he is very happy with it. It is the perfect compromise between the coats he already has. Warm enough but not too warm for short cold winter errands and walks. Good pockets. His only complaint is the zipper is sometimes a little hard to work.

Warm coat, just wished it had a metal zipper. Fit was very good.

I bought a Rugged Ridge parka to replace an old fleece lined parka that was wearing out. The Rugged Ridge is warmer and lighter than my old parka. The shell cuts wind well and the soft collar lining is very comfortable. It also slides on and off very smoothly over all sorts of layers, and it is roomy enough for effective layering for very cold weather. The external pockets, however, leave much to be desired. There is no insulation on the outer side of the pockets, making htem useless for hand warming. The vertical zippers and the low set of the pockets also mean that objects do not stay in the pockets unless they are small enough to permit zipping. The pockets can hold a watch cap, but not any sort of warm gloves, and there is no place to attach gloves to the parka. Those are the sorts of details Bean has a history of taking care of, but not on this parka, which is disappointing.

This coat is thoughtfully designed with many features that add to its utility (eg, internal pockets, detachable hood, dual zipper, drawstrings). It is listed as "warmest" but I think it is closer to "warmer." It is difficult to compare but I tried to do so based on the listed fill and compare to other coats which is difficult. Overall, it is a well-designed coat that performs well but I think would need more/higher level of fill to achieve the moniker of "warmest."

Light weight, and sleek looking. I would have given five stars except the crinkly plastic sounding exterior is a huge distraction. Also, loose threads keep popping up during putting on and taking off.

I had to replace an older Rugged Ridge Parka, so I decided to go with the same parka style. As before, this parka fits well and is very warm. However, I am disappointed that the two chest pockets present on my older version were deleted; you can never have too many pockets. I knocked off one star because of this. All-in-all, the Rugged Ridge Parka is a good buy, and I highly recommend it.
Unrelated to the parka itself, mine was delivered rolled into a ball and stuffed into a green LLBean bag. It obviously didn't come from the factory as it was not in the original clear bag and the pockets were unzipped. I couldn't find any issues, however. Perhaps it was sent from a local store? This isn't the usual quality packaging I expect.

Great coat, but the zipper is very poor. Needs a bigger tooth metal zipper

To replace a still just like new Bean's insulated Barn Coat. And this is a really great coat -not heavy, warm, just a little on the noisy side. I'd buy it again.

Overall it's a great jacket, currently doing just fine in the -15 degree temperatures we're experiencing in Maine right now. My only problem is the medium regular is just slightly too long for my personal preference. A small tall wouldn't really fit me so I just have to try and fold in the bottoms to make it right. Otherwise great jacket.

The jacket is not bulky and comfortable to wear. I was a little surprised at how warm it was considering it was a bit thinner than my last winter parka. It is definitely waterproof and blocks the wind well. It is a good length for winter and can be adjusted in several areas. Definitely enough room to wear another layer underneath if needed. The two way zipper can be a bit tricky at times. But my main concern is the hood, which just seems enormous even with the adjustments available. I guess the hood has enough room for a ski helmet, but I just purchased it for casual winter wear so that part does not fit great but can also be removed completely. Overall, it seems to be a very good jacket so far and looks great. I would recommend.

Lovely jacket but a more tailored fit than I wanted. Quality, styling, and features top notch, but this is made for an 'East Coast' (trim) body, not a 'Midwestern' (and more midlife) body, so was too tight in the midriff so I had to return it. If I fit it better, I would have loved it.

This was not my first choice. What I wanted was not available for two months. I was looking for something warm with a removable hood. This jacket met those criteria but it is a little bulkier than I expected.

Ordered the same size I have In previous Bean outdoor items purchased and was absolutely swimming in it. Thankfully we were able to find the next size down in the flagship store (last one!!). There is a significant difference in the 2 sizes which is very unusual.

I really like the jacket. I bought it to replace a 15-year old LL Bean jacket that had worn out. I just wish this new one had more pockets like the old one did. I really like the fact that it is waterproof though. The old one was not.

Warm, light weight and comfortable. First test was in the mountains of Vermont at 6 below zero. Worked out well.

I gave it to my son for a gift. He said it was too heavy and exchanged it.

Fit is good. Fabric is a "bit noisy." Quality looks good. May need a layer under the coat in very cold weather?. The weather has been too warm in south central PA to really tell how warm it is. One cold evening I wore it and while I wasn't cold, it might have been warmer in the shoulder area??? Might give it 5 stars, pending wearing in colder weather.

Just to let you know, my friend loves the jacket I bought him, but he said there are two issues.
1. While it does fit, it doesn't leave any room for a heavy sweater when needed; especially in the area of his 'beer-gut'.
2. The arms are so long, it could possibly fit Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's arm length. Fortunately, he said the velcro cuffs make it easier to keep the sleeves up.
He has no intention of giving up the jacket, so I thank you.

Overall a good jacket. Warm and dry. My third Bean jacket and I am always very satisfied with the quality. I have problem with placement of the interior stings and plastic stopper hitting my navel. But that may just be an issue of fit. Also think the front chest pocket should be a little bigger. Won't hold my phone.

This seems like a good coat, although not terribly elegant (I haven't worn it yet in very cold weather). When the coat first arrived I had difficulty with the zipper.

I liked both jackets and they fit well but I liked the way the green jacket looked so I kept it.

Great jack- I wish it was a little more fitted like the classic Down Parka but this piece allows you to layer appropriately (though I would never have the need, its so warm!)

The zipper is difficult to use, both to zip up and zip down. A second zipper pull gets in the way.

I'm wearing my second coat! All is excellent EXCEPT the use of Velcro instead of good old snap button buttons! I wish you would stop using the Velcro
