Besides getting delivery on the wrong color combination which ended up actually being a better look so I kept it, it is also a great fit, with adjusting straps at the thigh and waist and velcro at the wrists. Plenty of pockets although I do wish the the outter chest pocket was was a bit wider and deeper. It is very warm and on nights in the teens I found that this along with a heavy shirt is enough to keep warm with plenty of flexibility for movement. It's durable and washable. It also has a detachable hood which I choose to remove. The coat I replaced was an LLB and very similar and I had it for about 10 years! I expect no less from this great parka!

This jacket is light, warm and comfortable. I have a tough time finding coats that fit right. Although I am not overly big or tall I have very broad shoulders and need to buy xxl just so I can put the coat on. This jacket with it relaxed fit and the ability to cinch the middle snug makes for a customizable fit. I was out all day wearing a long sleeve tee shirt under it and stayed comfortable in 20 degree weather. Has not been any colder than that yet but I think I will be fine wearing it.

Love this new parka my wife gave me as a Christmas present. Fits great and it is extremely comfortable. Plenty of pockets for gloves, cap & cell phone.

Don't bother scrolling to look at other jacket. This is literally the warmest and most comfortable jacket I've ever owned. I bought it as a 2020 Christmas present for myself. We've had many high 20s-30s degree days and this jacket keeps me warm. Even when it's windy. The jacket is light and not bulky. Plenty of pockets. The good is insulated and keeps my head warm when my hat alone doesn't do it. I'm comfortable at the dog park for over an hour. I wish they made a pant version of the jacket.

Works well in central Mn. so far. It keeps you warm down to least 10 below with no extra layers.

For years, I had enjoyed a Regular Large version of this coat. This time, I thought I would try a Tall X-Large version for a bit roomier fit and more coverage on the lower back. As I walk in cold weather, the ample coverage of my buttocks afforded by the Tall version is wonderful. The X-Large version gives me more space inside. The sleeve length is long, but not too long, as expected when my arms are down. BUT, when I extend my arms, the coat's sleeves continue to cover the full length of my arms, which I really appreciate. In terms of functionality and well-thought-out placements of pockets inside and outside, it cannot get better. This particular coat is the best winter coat that I have ever had. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

Bought this for warmth and waterproof qualities. The size actually is somewhere between a medium and a large. That's probably OK as I will layer in the colder months so it's nice to have a little extra room. Pockets are well designed, outside the coat and inside as well, very useful. Style-wise it's a bit frumpy, nothing to get excited about, but it's supposed to be a winter coat, so there you go. I like the fact that it feels more substantial than the other so-called winter coats in the collection, which actually feel pretty thin and light weight. It helps to go to your local L.L. Bean store, if you have one that is, to actually look at the coats and try them on. Sometimes images in the catalog can be misleading, albiet not intentionally.

Solidly-constructed, comfortable, and warm winter coat. Very well suited to Chicago winter; in addition to more-than-adequate warmth and wind protection, it's long enough and waterproof enough that you'll stay dry during a wet winter squall on your hike back from the subway stop. Fits me well, and I'm 5-11 and, um, husky. Good-looking (or at least I think so), and pocket functionality is pretty good, although the right inner pockets are a kind of mesh and are a bit unstructured. I thought the coat a good value. Good job, Bean!

I ordered this parka for my 14 year old, 6'2" son and he loves it. He stays warm and dry in it, very comfortable. It also looks very nice on him. One winter of wear and it still looks new.

Great coat and I love the style of it while it has kept me very warm when needed! I do t mind the plastic zipper as long as it is sturdy. I actually bought two of this coat from Llbean because like many of their other great coats, they get sold out and you may not be able to purchase them again.

Bought this for my husband who needed a warm waterproof parka for new England winters. He normally wears a medium but had to exchange for a small because it was overall too large, especially throughout the torso and hips. He is lean and muscular, so did not need the extra room for a wide belly. Definitely very waterproof and very warm, so will only use on the colder, wetter days when snow removal is necessary, or when doing extended outside activities. Would be too warm for wearing in the car on the way to work on a typical winter day in Massachusetts, but that's when a lighter weight jacket would be best. The price was great for this quality and level of warmth and features. We got the brownish color, which looks fine with more dressy clothes or for casual activities. Overall very happy. Thanks llbean for making a good solid parka and keeping the price reasonable.

I had tried to replace a 3-in-1 Bean jacket that had begun to show age. I ordered a large in the current version of that style, but it was too snug in the shoulders. Returning it for an extra large, I determined that size was too big and looked sloppy. Back went jacket number two. I finally decided to give the Rugged Ridge Parka a try and am glad I did. It fits like my old 3-in-1 but it's easier to get on and off since it doesn't have the fleece inner lining. The removable hood is something I wanted, as my old jacket's hood was hidden and not used very much. It's hard to find a hidden or removable hood - I looked at numerous brands, so I know. The jacket was purchased to be worn in northern Michigan winters. While I received it late in the season, I'm confident it will be just fine.

I was pretty sure when I ordered this Parka from LL Bean that I would be happy with the purchase because my wife and I had been up to the Factory Store in Freeport, Maine a few years back and purchased a coat, hat, and some other items there while on vacation, and we realized then what fine quality LL Bean had. Now that I have this new purchase I am reassured that the excellent quality still continues at the store. It's good to know that you can still buy a good quality product when you need one.

I love it. It does a get job at keeping me warm is winter weather in Minnesota. It is great when I have to go outside and move snow- either by shovel or snowblower. The coat does a wonderful job at stopping the wind. I am still getting use to all the pockets - on the outside as well as the inside. The hood has a very nice adjustment feature. There are nice adjustments to have a great fit at the waist. I ended up getting the Tall size because my last L.L. Bean was also a tall size and fit well.

The light weight of this coat is deceiving...it proved to be toasty warm even on cold, windy days...plus totally waterproof & windproof. Even the hood keeps my head warm. Zip pockets with ample room for keys, cell phone and gloves. The main zipper (a sore point on the majority of coats these days) loosens up within a couple of weeks (be patient). There is even room for an additional layer underneath without being uncomfortably snug.

At 6' 6", 256 lbs I purchased the XXL Tall parka, which fit me perfectly. The parka is of quality materials and construction. I had a chance to wear it in 10 deg windy conditions and it was very warm and comfortable. I highly recommend this parka.

I've owned this coat for two years. I've worn it in very cold temperatures (less than 0) and I've always stayed warm. I tend to be warmer than the average person, so I typically wear this with a t-shirt when playing outside with my kids or shoveling the snow. Just this morning it was 11 degrees, and I was clearing the driveway in jeans, by Bean Boots, a t-shirt, and this jacket. I was using the snow blower, and I was sweating in this jacket despite the cold temperature. With two years of use the jacket has held up wonderfully. No fading, no tearing, no stains. It really is a great coat.

This is my second Rugged Ridge Parka. I wore my first out. I wear it when temperature gets below 45 degF to down below 0 degF. The sleeves are warm and seal at the wrist so no cold air up the arms. The pockets are generous - e.g., inside one will hold a couple of bagels, outside ones easily hold my winter mittens. New type of insulation in second coat makes it lighter than first. Have worn it in heavy rain with no umbrella; it is definitely water proof. When I got the first I then saw people on the Weather Channel wearing what appeared to be the same coat.

I had a very similar coat I purchased from LL Bean about 25 years ago that still looked great but the zipper died. This one seems of similar quality. I like the 2 tone grey colors. Fits a little snugger. It seems to be plenty warm.
