I won't need another jacket until I need to take out a second mortgagewhich means hopefully never.

Great fit Outstanding customer service. I explained this was for my grandson who was experiencing his first cold weather( He is from South Fl). I was told it would take 5 days. It arrived in 2 days. I have been a LL Bean customer for many years and I have introduced my grandson to You. Thanks again

I had a winter coat with storm zippers which I now detest and therefore, the order for this coat. This coat has a standard zipper which is terrific. The coat fits to size when wearing a couple of shirts underneath. We have not received snow, but am sure the coat will do fine. Love the storm cuffs and Velcro to seal out the cold. Having an insulated hood NOT made for a ski helmet is great too. Because it is true that we are all walking around with ski helmets even while at home or out for a meal. Nice job Beansters!

Well made. Longer for better coverage for cold winter days. Hood that can be used to help cut the wind.

I have been wearing this model for quite a few years. They used to last several years, the front zipper. Now days, like everything else, they are not made to last that long, so we will buy another unit. Seems the local repair shops want $50-60 area to sew in a new zipper, and can put a heavier duty zipper in if they can find. Is what I do. Sometimes fix and sometimes buy another, and have had more than a dozen. Too many, even what are called parkas, are too short of length. To be warmer, the jacket/parka MUST go to near mid-thigh area. This jacket provides that, and I do always get the tall size, which makes a difference of about two inches longer. All the pockets are larger on this model. Too many jackets have too small of pockets to be of much value. I have stayed dry in this jacket during moderate precip of rain and snow. Much of my outdoor, all-weather activity involves being horseback. The longer sleeves provide enough extra length to help keep most of the weather from getting inside my gloves/mittens. Overall, I really like this jacket/parka. As said prior, the front main zipper is the only weak point. Needs to be much more heavy duty.

I believe this is the same model (but refreshed) as my current LL Bean insulated coat that I use for skiing. Even after ten years, it is doing great. I ski about 20+ days a year with this coat. It usually keeps me warm with a long sleeve cotton t-shirt and a bib snowpant as long as the temp doesn't dip below the mid 20s. The video says it is now rated to -40F w/moderate activity. Maybe they've improved it a lot. I often find that if the temp creeps near freezing, I get too warm and there are no vents so I try to unzip the front to stay cool. The best feature of this coat is the many pockets. The neck warmer is a godsend and is soft against the cheeks. I think they've removed the two pit pockets which I could never understand - maybe just a convenient handwarming location? I use them to store a water flask and camera. If the fit is still the same, a Medium fits me perfectly. I'm 6-ft and 187lbs.

It's obvious that LL Bean put a good deal of thought into this parka. While I have not worn in extreme cold conditions yet, I can say that features like the velcro sleeve closures, ample number of interior and exterior pockets, and insulated hood speak to the high quality design. I personally have had no issues with the double zipper mentioned in a number of the other reviews . Closing the hood tight will cause it to drape over my eyes somewhat, but this is not a big deal. The Primaloft insulation means the parka is not puffy like a down jacket, which for me is a big plus. Bottom line - it's good looking coat that gets the job done.

Thank you, LL Bean for an outstanding product! I packed my Rugged Ridge Parka with my gear for a trip to summit Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in August 2022. Summit temperature was -18 degrees C (-0.4 degrees F) before wind chill in the howling wind and I was toasty warm. (Yes, dear reader of this review, I did wear layers.)

Great and comfortable parka! Seems warm (although I will have to test it out in the upcoming Maine winter to know for sure), and the ties used to adjust around the wrists and waist ensure no cold air leakage.

Just purchased in July so no practical use yet. Appears to be made to high standards expected of Bean clothing. The zipper is two way but that is not mentioned in description or specs. Fit is great. Really like the high collar, expect it will keep out cold winds coming in three months. Glad I purchased.

Best parka I've ever bought. Love the relaxed fit. There's an extra hidden cuff in the sleeve to keep snow out. Great quality, very comfortable. Not so bulky that I can't drive in it. Definitely recommend it.

I have had LL Bean Parkas all my life. I bought two down parkas on special 40 years ago, and they are still doing a great job of keeping me warm, albeit a little worn around the edges. Finally I treated myself to this new parka this winter. It is fantastic. Just as warm, but lighter and breathes better, better hood, better pockets. Bravo LL Bean for the continuing pursuit of excellence. Sorry - at 71 it doesn't look like I will need to buy any more parkas, but then, there are a lot of other items in the catalog.

Perfect fit! You probably should enclose instructions on putting on the hood. The reason I returned the previous jacket was that had arrived with the hood removed (I believe it was packaged in the side pocket) and when I went to attach it, the snap and velcro connections had nothing to mate to_ I didn't realize that they were under the chin portion of the collar. The new jacket came with the hood attached I figured it out after detaching the hood. I wonder if you had many returns for the same reason.

I've had this jacket for 10 years now. I have lived in Lake Tahoe for 4 years, previously lived in a mountain community in Southern California (Lake Arrowhead). Prior to moving to Tahoe I made 27 visits over 6 winters. I love cold weather! This jacket has never failed to keep me entirely warm, and typically I wear it while it is blizzarding outside, usually running my snow blower while a raging storm is going on. The coat has several great features, including: plenty of pockets, eyeglass or goggle cleaning wipe atrached, adaptable to a wide range of cold temperatures, with the 2 elastic draw-cords (at the waist and at the bottom hem) internal sleeve elastic cuff and external velcro sleeve closure, detachable hood, zipper flap. I've worn it at 45 degrees and as low as 0 (and all stages of raging blizzard conditions). I've never been cold and never been too warm, and never had water penetrate. I've been an LL Bean customer about 45 years and have purchased a few thousand dollars worth of clothing and footwear. This jacket is the very best piece of clothing I've purchased from them. Additionally, it ia a tremendous value for what it is and what it costs. At twice the price I'd still recommend it

Stands up to harsh South Dakota winters! Second purchase of this particular coat as I wore the zipper out in the first one (after a couple years use).
