Glad my boots are oversized, because these are thick socks, apparently designed to replace my usual layering method of trying to keep warm. If they perform well as a solo unit, they are a home run, but I won't be able to test them out until winter... if there is a winter with global warming!

I've been wearing these socks exclusively for many years. Love them. My feet get unbelievably cold and these help tremendously. I wear them every day for three seasons. I heartily recommend them to everyone who suffers from cold feet. The other really great thing is that there is no band of elastic that goes around the top to make them overly tight around my legs. They fit well and do not sag. That's been problem with other brands, especially with SmartWool socks (too tight at the top). Two things to be aware of are: 1. They do shrink, so size up. 1 size larger should do it. I wear a ladies size 9/ 9.5 shoe and buy the men's large in these socks. They fit perfectly after shrinking. I wash in cold water but I do put them in the dryer. 2. The thickness of the socks will make your regular shoes fit tightly. Since I wear these every day, I have had to resort to having two pairs of shoes in each style that I own. My "winter" shoes are one half size larger than my summer shoes in the exact same style & brand to accommodate the thickness of these socks. This has made everything much more comfortable, my feet don't feel squished, and it is totally worth it for me to do this. Others may not feel the need to do this, but this is what works for me, so though I would share this info. The last thing I will add is a request to LL Bean to PLEASE bring back these socks in knee high length. I have a few of these 12-in and 16 in ragg wool Bean socks- they are heavenly! The 16 inch are my favorites. Since they do shrink, they end up losing several inches in length but they work beautifully as knee highs and keep me toasty warm. I keep saying I'm not going to buy any more 10-in and wait for the longer ones, especially the 3 packs on sale, but then I get tired of waiting and give in, buying the 10" & adding leg warmers to cover the rest of my legs to my knee. They are still good.

These are the best socks. Nothing but wool can keep your feet warm and yet breathe. I have been wearing these for 30 years, fall, winter & spring, and these are still made the same way; there have been no shortcuts or reduction in quality. They may be pricey but they last for years and I really put them to the test with how often I wear them. I do suggest ordering a size up.

I bought these for my husband for work. He needs wool socks all year to help wick moisture away and regulate the temperature of his feet. He says they work in the winter when it's cold and in the summer to cool his feet. It's been hard finding him wool socks that last through the winter and also be used in the summer. These ragg wools are super soft, comfortable, loose fitting but stay in place. This is his 3rd set and the only company that these socks last 2 years of continuous wearing. I have tried numerous other high end companies and he barely makes it through the winter with those socks. So gladbtobhave found LL Bean for his socks. If your on the fence about spend this kind of money on socks, it's worth it. Wish they could last longer but like I said my husband lives in these socks for work and ro get 2 years is wonderful. Thank you for you great craftsmanship to clothing.

Great socks for winter to keep feet warm. Great to wear with rubber boots which can be cold. I did have problem with heel becoming very thin but it was only one pair out of 4. It was multi color so i dint know if it was yarn. Great fit.

I bought wool socks from LLBean years ago and they're still in great shape (the heel hasn't even worn) but when I saw these socks on the daily markdown I couldn't resist buying 4 pairs at such a good discounted price. I read some reviews and some complained they were too bulky but if you're wearing dress shoes yes but if wearing sneakers or boots no. They are so warm and soft considering they're wool and wash well. True to size

The socks have worn extremely well and are warm. I removed the elastic string at the very top because I like socks that are loose at the top.

Warmer than even New Zealand wool and within a hair of being just as comfortable. Can just toss them in the washer with your jeans, etc. I've worn the same two pair of gray ones for years. Now, I don't have to ration them in the frigid Nebraska winters. Absolutely the BEST!

I've worn LLBean ragg socks since the '60's. Wear them year round. Sticking with a product for over 50 years says a lot about the product.

Love my socks. Large is perfect for size 11 women's feet. I just wish they made all socks with a new invention so the heel would not wear out before the rest of the foot.

Love these socks. They aren't the softest socks in the world but they are soft enough. I hate getting cold feet and these socks cure that and fit nice inside my Muck boots

I bought these because of the color. Nice to have rag socks that aren't grey. Seam above toes softens up after first washing

I LOVE these socks & wear them all day, every day, all winter BUT I buy them 2 sizes too big knowing that they will shrink. If you never put them in the dryer & only wash cold they probably would stay their original size but there is just no way I'm going to remeber to fish them out of the wash every time. So, I size up, and they are perfect! for reference I wear a womens size 9 shoe & get these in XL.

I've been a fan of Bean's ragg wool socks for years; I live on the shore where the wind and the damp can chill you to the bone, and nothing beats these socks. The quality is also excellent, and they will last for many years, so they're worth the price.

A substantial, lofty wool sock with lots of cushion; wool keeps foot warm in winter and cool in summer. My sheep approve!
