These shoes (in wide) were a tad narrower than the pair I purchased in the past, so too narrow for me. Otherwise, I like the shoes. I have a very wide foot, so they probably would be wide enough for average wide foot.

My favorite shoes for the past many years have been Merrell Moab 3's. Wore hiking, in cities, everywhere. Ordered a new pair, with no resemblance. Soles are much too wide, feel like I'm wearing balloons. Very sad. Why can't they continue a perfect shoe style? Returning.

Too large and clunky. Also, too heavy.

I have to wear Rx orthotics for 6 years now. I used to be able to find Merrell's that had enough depth and width for them, but not now. I also supinate which is the opposite of pronate, and these shoes I immediately feel the outside of my sole rather than the inside is tipping outwards already. Great looking shoe, but will have to return. :-(

The sole is very awkward with different section for the ball of the foot. Hard to use going up and down stairs. The sole should be flat so one can put in an insert of choice.

I’ve gotten these before and loved them, but this pair was just a little short. I ought to have returned them, but they are the same size I always get.

I have worn nothing but Merrill Moab for the last 10-12 years and they have been fantastic. Oddly, this latest pair I bought is not as comfortable, even though they're all broken in now. By the end of a long day my feet hurt a bit. If I wear one of my old pairs everything's great. They are all the same size so I'm not sure what the problem is

Super comfortable, but not a good value. Considerably overpriced in my opinion.
They ripped the first time I wore them.
To clarify, I'm not a hiker I use my shoes for simple yard work (1/4 acre).

I bought these an should not have kept them. They are very comfortable but they are just a bit too clunky for my personal taste.

I needed to replace my last pair of Merrill hiking shoes and selected the Moab 3 wide width. The fit is terrific and they are as comfortable as my last pair. And I don't doubt they will last as long as well. I am disappointed with my purchase however as the first time I was hiking through wet grass my feet were quickly soaked. Since my last pair were quite water resistant I assumed these were as well. My error for not reviewing the description thoroughly.

I need more support than they offered. The mesh is too "mushy," allowing my foot to stretch the shoe and move around too much in the shoe. I went back to another brand that is fortified with leather inserts and strips of leather spaced at strategic points in the mesh fabric.

These shoes are well-made what heavy. There is plenty of cushioning, and the insole is comfortable, however. I love the vibrum soul. I bought these in a half size smaller than I usually wear and they are still too big so I had to put an insult in them. I usually wear an eight and I bought a 7 1/2 but these run wide. Because of the weight of the shoe and the fact that they are so wide, I probably should have returned them. I do like the color, however, and I have the chalk

I wear a 10N in athletic shoes, and also have low-volume feet. In the past, Merrells have been narrow enough for me to wear--the fit was great for me. Eventually 10s were a tad short, so I ordered a half size up and the shoes are both too large and too wide for me. They probably run true to size and width, but don't work for me anymore.

Heads-up: good shoe BUT the black outside rubber base of the Vibram sole is in fact WHITE internally! It's a white rubber base covered with black rubber layer which is very thin, so normal dents from a hike do reveal ugly WHITE spots! very annoying when such a white spot suddenly shows up on the shoe toe side, right in front where you and everyone can clearly see it! That WHITE inner rubber material cannot even be painted black over again because, well, it's a rubber! Sorry but it's a shame such an otherwise nice, premium shoe could not have its sole made from a monolith chunk of black rubber, like my older shoes, instead of this white wrapped in black kind of pie.. It's a month old Beluga style my second pair of Moabs. No other issues so far.

Just received 8 wides in “aluminum” color - which is more like being than aluminum. Wide tie nix, too wide for my medium weight wool socks, heel is ok, not slipping. Big problem is the lack of support from the insole ( I tried replacing with a number of insoles, none helped). There is NO support where I need it, in the toe area. I can feel the sole/tread there right through the insole. I only wore them around the house to try them out, floors are wood, tile or rug. I’ve had Merrell shoes before, these seem very cheaply made. The suede leather parts look worn though the sole looks perfect, so I don’t know if the shoes were worn, cleaned and returned. This was the only color choice available in 8 wides. Probably will return.

I have completed one 6 km walk wearing my new lo-top Merrell Moab 3 shoes.
The Pros:
These shoes have excellent grip with their coarse-lug Vibram soles.
The size is a good match for my 10W foot size, so ordering online worked out. The shoes are slightly wider and longer than my `regular' 10W shoes, but this works well given the thicker socks that I tend to wear while hiking.
The Cons:
The outsole and midsole are sufficiently thin that I can feel the individual lugs of the Vibram sole pressing against the sole of my foot. I would not have imagined that this was possible. These are early days, but for the moment, this sensation is quite distracting while walking. I expected blisters or corns and calluses to develop, but they have not appeared so far.
The sides of the shoe are also thinner than expected, so there is no significant lateral support. This is not a problem while walking on level ground or pavement, but it could be painful or even dangerous if attempting to hike on even slightly uneven ground / trails.

I was excited about these shoes and thought for sure theyd be my new hiking companions, but sadly they were not comfortable for me. The toe box was nice and roomy, which I really liked, but there was a lot of pressure on the heels just standing. I returned them because of that.

They make these in wide width which works and is great, but I'm pretty sure they still use the same size toe box that they use on the medium width shoes. So, they mash your toes in. Can be painful!

First off. The Moab 3's are great shoes! But. If you have contrary feet like mine they may not live up to what your feet require. I wore them one time for about 3 hours. My feet were killing me! I used my insoles provided by my podiatrist too. I don't know what I will do with them now. Hopefully I can find someone who can wear them whose feet don't dictate what they wear. This is not a bad review on Merrell shoes. They have great products and styles. And in the past I have had wonderful experiences with them.

The shoe feels durable and had good traction on my hike, however, the fit on my right foot felt like there was some extra space. My foot kept sliding forward in the right shoe which caused my toes to keep hitting the front of the shoes. My toes were so sore after my hike. I'll have to buy something to prevent my toes from hitting the right.

This is a comfortable shoe for my 8 to 10 k walks but unfortunately causes me heel pain when I do my longer walks. I know they tell you to wear it around your house when you first purchase, I agree that let's you know if the fit is right but the only way to truly test a hiking shoe is to wear it on one of your normal hikes. The problem is when you do that and find out not the right shoe it has been worn outside and is no longer returnable. My walks are mostly on gravels roads and some pavement so if that's the surfaces you walk on pass on this shoe.
