Way too large. I usually get a large as I dislike too tight a fit, so there's a little extra room and a level of comfort, but these were way bigger than a large normally is. They're similar to an extra large. I'm going to have to pay a seamstress to take in the sleeves and the length now. I would have exchanged them, but I would have had to pay shipping. They're nice, tho.

Excellent pajamas, very comfortable, and great fit. Will be buying another pair.

The Good: Fits well, soft & comfortable material, launders well, has shirt and pant pockets. The (not so) Bad: Shirt pocket is on the small size...just barely accommodates a cell phone. Material could be heavier for cold weather states.

Wonderful!! I really like the monogram work too. My only suggestion is for a button and closure for the top. Some of us like to button up all the way in winter! The inside finishing where the flannel folds isn't sewn and it will fall apart over time. Just like a top shelf brand I purchased 15 years ago. The best P. J's I have found to date!

The pjs were made of thick and soft flannel and a true match to the picture. I got them as a Christmas gift for my husband and he loved them. Unfortunately, the large was big enough for two of him and when I ordered a medium the top would not button and the bottom fit fine. Sadly they both were returned. All other men's clothing I have purchased for him from LLBean fit perfectly.

Definitely size down. Also note that these pajamas shed quite a bit, even after several washes.

Pajamas fit well and are comfortable. Fabric is soft and cozy BUT pills a lot, even after two washes. I'm sure it will stop with several more washes but in the meantime I'm picking up pieces of it all over the house!

These are a great match to the robe I bought my husband a few years ago. They are a full cut - not slim at all - so if you are super slim they may be too boxy. Had the same problem as with the robe though. Had to was by themselves for 2 or 3 times before the lint became even manageable. The problem with the third wash is then the fabric pills - so they dont look new anymore. I had hoped they had resolved this issue by now.

This is my second purchase of these pajamas, as the originals were getting threadbare after a few years. Love the various tartan options, and cozy softness of the flannel. My wife had to hem the arms for me both times, as they are a little long. Everything else is true to size in my opinion.

These pajamas are nearly perfect. The flannel is exceptional. The fit is true to size. BUT there is no top button. It seems weird that pajamas that are meant to keep one warm leave the wearer with an exposed neck and chest. People who don't want to button a top button don't have to, but people who want the extra warmth are left having to wear a scarf. I note that there are pockets in the pants, a detail I find silly but others may like. I would rather save the production cost of pants pockets and spend the few pennies on one more button and a button hole or loop.

Comfortable and true to size. Only problem is LL Bean decided to attach a scratchy fabric care tag right in the middle of the back of the pants about six inches below the waist. Can't cut it off without cutting the seam. Seriously? Come on now, get a clue.

With no button on the pajama top the collar spreads open like camp shirt so chilly air invades the chest/neck area. How I wish I could button the top up! My workaround is to put a light fleece vest on over the top, thus keeping a vulnerable area warm. Come on LL, we need a top button option.

I really do love these pajamas! They are exceptionally comfortable. The only thing that prevents a 5 star rating is durability. They seem to wear too quickly. But I keep buying them.

I had an older pair and these new ones seem more substantial in fabric. The pants now have front pockets, deep enough and cozy flannel fabric - great for hand warming on chilly eves. I really like the pants. The top seems a little snug if I fold my arms. I am avg height and weight. Top is okay now, but If shrinks beyond the initial wash I will be disappointed in fit.

My husband likes these PJs very much. However, I think the cut is a little ungenerous, compared to cotton flannel PJs we've purchased in the past. So I am very careful to follow the recommended laundering instructions, lest they shrink. So far, (2 washings) so good.

When I got them they seemed a bit too big for me. But a couple of washes shrank them (as others have indicated) so they now fit perfectly. Nice and warm too. I like them!

I have been buying LL Bean clothes for over 25 years now. I have always loved the pajamas, but the quality of them is steadily declining. They are less durable, less warm, and over gimmicked with each passing year. I have never worn any other pajamas other than LL Bean, so I have noticed the decline in value along with the rise in price. They develop holes in the knees within a year, and rip easily if caught on something while just walking along. And the new pockets? Who goes to bed with things in their pockets? For many years my wife has been repairing them by sewing up rips and putting patches on the knees, but now she refuses because they don't last long enough to justify her time in repairing them. That's how much I valued them, but now I may look elsewhere because of the problems mentioned above. It's a shame because they were once the very best.

Will never be seen in public in these, but keeps me warm and toasty on cold nights!!!

The fabric is not particularly heavy, it's just average, and the waist is a bit snug for an older person with weight beginning to concentrate in the middle.

What can one say about pajamas? They fit and were comfortable.

Quality of LL Bean flannel PJ's is excellent- BUT many men are not the same size top and bottom. My husband works out and is a Large top and Medium pants. Getting an option to accommodate that might be a good idea for LL Bean. Sadly I had to return the set- but happily the LL Bean customer service rep suggested buying the Medium pants that are offered as a stand alone and a coordinating Henley shirt in Large- so it worked out in the end for us. Thanks LL Bean.

My husband loves these pajamas as we have purchased them before. There was one change in them from before that he was most unhappy with, the pockets in the pajama bottoms were shorter than in the other ones we have purchased. Items fall out with the shortened pockets. Other than that, these are wonderful and I highly recommend them. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the shortened pockets. That was disappointing.
