I purchased this shirt as I believed it would be comfortable and fit like other LL BEAN items do. I was mistaken. This LARGE shirt would allow not only me inside but also my wife. It fit like a big tent. I may be on the small side of Large but this shirt was ridiculous. It just hangs straight from the outer sleeve shoulder seams. It would take a whole lot of shrinking to fit even as a over shirt. My advice if you really want this item would be to order a size smaller if you're like me 6' - 172 pounds.

I'm 5'10" tall, 170lbs. I have a 34" waist. After reading multiple reviews, I ordered a medium in the regular fit chamois shirt. It fits in the shoulders and sleeve length but the rest of it looks like a tent on me. The overall length is absurd and is at least 9 inches too long. I could fit two pillows under the shirt in the front. Maybe I'll opt for the slimmer fitting Signature version of this but I'm really disappointed by the fit of this shirt. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is due to the thickness and quality of the fabric.

I have had many of these shirts over the years and bought a replacement *on sale* after Christmas. I take a Large but this one is HUGE and is more like an extra large with enough body room for 2 and the cuffs hanging to my finger-tips. Return it? Exchange it? Then I'd pay for shipping and that defeats the sale, right? Be forewarned, that's all.

This chamois shirt shrunk on first washing. Have 2 other chamois shirts several years old that still fit after many washings.
Seems Beans quality control is shrinking.

I have four Chamois shirts that I have purchased in the last two years. Three of them are wonderful. Deep Wine, Deepest Green and Navy - the fabric seems to get softer with each washing.
Charcoal Gray Heather is another matter. The fabric is stiff despite repeated washings and has pilled badly. I would not buy it again.
Suggestion - offer a Charcoal Gray color in a fabric that is the same as that used for the Deep Wine, Deepest Green and Navy Colors. The current Charcoal Gray Heather fabric is a different animal altogether.

First time I wore this shirt I thought it was way too stiff. I thought a few washings would fix that....I was wrong. The shirt feels more like thin cardboard than cotton. And its cardboard that you need to iron!

I have been wearing LL Bean chamois shirts for years. I have them in red, navy, dark green, tan, dark brown, and grey. They were the best. I ordered a new grey one recently, and was disappointed because it is so much larger. The sleeves are also longer. I've always worn medium, yet I can literally wear the new one over my old ones, with room to spare. Why the change? It's like Coca-Cola creating New Coke in the 1980s. I laid the new chamois on top of my Woolrich Stag shirt-jacket, and the measurements are almost exact, in sleeve length, width, and sleeve width. I have no problem with the concept of a chamois shirt-jacket, but that would be in addition to the classic chamois, not a replacement of the classic chamois. It is still the same high quality and stylish garment, just oversized. I gave two stars because it was not marketed as shirt-jacket, it was marketed as if nothing has changed.

I had reviewed the LLB chamois shirt some time ago and thought by now with autumn approaching, the chamois shirt would have reverted to it's prior sizing. Conversations with LLB support indicated the change would go into effect this fall. In good faith I ordered a new "chamois" only to receive the over sized version. It's still way to large. The extra long body and way too long sleeves (even after washing) just doesn't work for me. Today's conversation with LLB Support indicated no knowledge of the change. If I wanted a jacket, I would have ordered one. PLEASE BRING BACK THE "NORMAL" SIZED CHAMOIS SHIRTS!!

I already own two of these shirts and like them very much. I bought them about 10 years ago. I bought the new one to replace one of the old ones. It had the same stock number and size (L-REG) as the old one, but it was larger and the sleeves were some 2" longer. The LL Bean representative told me that they were deliberately making them larger today because people liked to wear them like a sport jacket (which I'm already doing with the old ones). So I'm sending the new one back and ordering a Medium, which is normally not my size and I'm concerned that it will be too small.

At one time my husband and I could guarantee that an item we previously bought would have the same fit when it was repurchased. This is no longer true. The traditional fit chamois shirt now has very large body and very long sleeves. The slim versions may fit my husband better, but we won't know for awhile as the number of shirts carried in this sizing is small. We were very unhappy with our purchase and returned it.

I have been a buyer of Chamois Shirts for close to 30 years. Of late, the quality is just not the same. I have several chamois shirts in my closet and two of them are quite flawed. One shirt is frayed in many places and the other is beginning to fray and and the elbow has torn out.
I have been a loyal ll bean customer for years and highly recommended LL Bean to anyone because they have always stood 100% behind the products regardless of the issue including wear.
I would find it very difficult to recommend these shirts now because there appears to be some sort of deterioration in the product. These shirts always lasted for years previously.

I ordered this for my husband who is 6'4 and 235lbs. When he held it up to himself, it dwarfed him. Weird, since he's almost always an XLT. So I paid to return the XLT and ordered an LT (and took a $10 loss since I had originally purchased the shirt and received 20% off), and guess what, still too large! Really frustrating. I give up. I'm done paying return shipping for items that are oversized. Pretty disappointed because I read a lot of great reviews on this shirt.

I received the spruce plaid chamois for Christmas in 2015 and returned it without hassle for another due to a hole in the right sleeve after about a dozen times wearing it. The new one I received now has a hole in the same sleeve after about the same amount of wear and washes. The left sleeve at the elbow is also very thin. I have several older Bean chamois shirts that do not have this problem. This one is going back , but I'm not getting the plaid this time. Hopefully the new solid ones are better. After a few washes the material just doesn't feel like the older versions of this shirt. Although my experience with this shirt is not good, the customer service at LL Bean is excellent and I will keep coming back.

I ordered a size xxl and it was huge! Way too big. I exchanged for an xl and it was far too tight. Returned for refund. Beware of goofy sizing as is typical for many imported products, but if it fits, it is a pretty good product.

XXLT is gigantic and I am 6'1" 260. Size charts listed online are not appropriate for this shirt. Expect to exchange shirt several times to determine size. Frustration!

This would have been my third Chamois Shirt, Traditional Fit in a Regular Small, but it was comically too long. So much so that I checked the label to make sure it was not a Tall. I then thought maybe it was mislabeled and I should try an exchange, but I looked more closely at the pictures. Compare the sleeves to shirt length to other shirts on the website and it is clearly much longer. This was obviously a running change in recent years but the shirt just does not work now if you are on the shorter side. I really don't see this fitting anyone under 6 foot, but hey, if you want to look like a kid in his Dad's shirt, go for it.

Sleeves are 2 3/4" shorter than stated. Perhaps this is an XL that has been mislabelled as XL Tall. Sadly, sold out and unable to get the correct size.

Men's Chamois shirt. I've bought 10-15 shirts from LLBean over the years all the same size (men's small) and this the only one that fits like a medium instead of a small. First time I've ever been disappointed in an item from LLB.

Very thin, looked nothing like the pictures.
XL sizing felt more like XXL. Way too loose and arms are super baggy.
I don't want to wash and shrink a shirt on purpose to have it fit.
Comparing this to my EddieB Chamois that is the same price and it's so thin and not heavyweight like you would expect a chamois to be. I returned it immediately. Very disappointing.
