I kind of forgot about chamois shirts. I used to sell them at an outdoor retailer but couldn't afford one myself. I was a student. Sometime in the 1990s I received one for Christmas. I still have and wear it. But it's finally wearing a bit thin. I picked up a navy LL Bean chamois shirt a few weeks ago, and it is as terrific as my older one and the ones I remember from the early 80's. Soft, a tight weave, and warm. I wore it birding in Seattle a day or so after I received it layered over a long-sleeve T, layered over a short-sleeve T. It was in the low- to mid-40s and perfectly warm for northern Pacific winters. By northern Pacific, I mean any place north of San Francisco, inclusive. The construction of the LL Bean chamois is sturdy. I bet it lasts as long as the 1990's chamois I still wear. The fit in perfect (size L) for my frame, 6'0 and mid 180's.

This shirt is just the right weight to wear instead of a jacket in cool weather. It's soft & comfortable, but not too heavy. I love these overshirts.

I am a woman, but I choose the men's shirt because the sleeves are longer. It fits over a t-shirt and under a larger warmer garment.

I wore one of these during summers at Keewaydin Camp for Boys. Other adults did, too. We also wore the dark green [Keewaydin Green] chamois cloth shirts. When I saw it was once again available, I tried to order, but it was out of stock. When will you have more?

This chamois shirt has been a family favorite for three generations. Cherry red and yellow are favorites. Easy to care for, warm and comfortable, long lasting! A tradition.

This is the same quantity shirt that I have been wearing for 60 years, no lie. I regret Bean does not continue the original colors. The plaid look stupid. I would love to be able to get another in forest green shirt.

This flannel shirt is so well made. It is a nice heavy soft flannel and fits perfectly, I don't like a tight fit but I also don't like baggy. (5', 134 lbs size M. I was so pleased I just ordered another.

I have no idea now how many Bean chamois shirts I've owned m but anfter all these years they have remained the perfect alternative to wool, down, and fleece cold-weather layers. They get better with age, are practically indestructible, easy to care for, and always handsome. Nothing better to comfort your soul in front of a roaring winter fire than a soft new chamois shirt.

Such a warm and cozy shirt, have a few and so comfortable and wash well.
