For a wide shoe they are very tightShoe is nice looking but fits tight and after any length of time your feet will hurt.

Just ok. I really miss the former Gore-Tex Euro Hiker with Vibram sole. This boot is a cheaper version, notably cheaper made, but ok at the price point. I'd rather pay more for the former mentioned model. Size is about 1/2 size off, too small. Toe box is tight, same as other reviews. I've had these on twice now and will likely exchange for the next 1/2 size up...

There's a lot to like about these boots, but be aware they run small and very narrow, especially in the toebox. They seem to be sized much differently than any other Bean boots I've purchased.

Nice boots. Sturdy. But a little heavier than I'd like. They also run a little small so order 1/2 size larger than normal

I really liked the boot overall but definitely not waterproof; returned them for that reason

Bought these because they are marketed as waterproof because I walk our dog somewhere with wet grass in the mornings. Even if it's not raining, the toes of my socks get very damp. I might try scotchguarding them. The boots are quite comfortable otherwise.

These hikers are truly very well constructed. Unfortunately, the sizing runs small both in length and width, and my husband was unable to wear them. We returned them and, as is their practice, LL Bean issued a full refund with no questions, deducting only the cost of the return prepaid postage.

Ordered the boot that was shown as BLUE, but received them in an ugly brown color. Way too expensive not to receive the item described.

I WEAR BOOTS EVERYDAY. THE LAST TWO PAIR WAS THIS BOOT. GREAT BOOT OTHER THAN AFTER THEY BREAK IN YOUR FEET WILL GET WET, EVEN IN WET GRASS. THEY ARE NOT 100% WATERPROOF. SO FAR WET DAYS I GO WITH BEAN BOOTS.

Love the fit and support. Have owned the boots for about a year. Very comfortable and the stiffer sole provides great support. I wear them every day. They would get 5 stars but since they are listed as 100% waterproof but if worn in rainy weather my feet get very wet I need to only give 3 stars.

Warning... The Boot's cuff around the ankle is VERY STIFF!!!
When I laced the boot normally, the Boot's ankle cuff would irritate my skin's ankle area to the point of total discomfort within several minutes of walking. My work-around is to Loosely lace the boot with a long break-in period. With this technique, it seems to be working ok and my comfort is much better. I've also replaced the original foot bed with a Green 'SuperFeet' foot beds for better support.
This is a hard tuff boot with good traction and a confident grip. With my adjustments, the boot is extremely supportive! However, it needs a longer than expected break-in period, which why I'm giving it 3-stars but yet, not recommending it to a friend.
I'm keeping the boot because I'm confident that after the break-in, the boot will have a long comfortable life.
Note:
One of the metal lacing lug broke off which rendered a significant lacing problem! However, LL Bean promptly sent a replacement pair of boots. Kuddo's for that!

Due to fit issues (mostly on the narrow side), I haven't gotten much wear time. Usually LL Bean shoes have fit pretty well but not these pair. So, it's been hard to evaluate for waterproof, etc. More later after a longer break-in period.

I had these same boots that I bought from the LL Bean store in New Hampshire and loved their fit and ware that they took so as they wore out I tried to get the same pair again and for what ever reason their EE with is not the same as it was 5 years ago,,,c'est la vie.

Well made comfortable shoe but the changes made to the lacings are unfortunate - a quick convenient system has been replaced with one that is clumsy.!

This is a very well made boot.
However, If you have a high arch it will be difficult to put this boot on your foot as the boot opening does not flex and is very tight. It would have been impossible for me to get the boot on with a wool sock. I also found the boot length was 1/2 size too small and the width was too tight with a light weight polyester sock.
I returned the boot and due to delays in processing my return and bigger size replacement I regrettably cancelled my order 2 + weeks without a known ship date after it was received at the return warehouse.

There is insufficient padding at the top of the boot. The edge of the boot rubs against the outside of my leg above the ankle. This has caused painful chafing and bruising. I thought the problem would go away with use, but it isn't working out.

I purchased the wide version of these boots to replace a previous pair of Bean hiking boots. The boots appear to be well made and fit the length of my foot as expected. However, width-wise, they do not feel like a wide-sized boot at all. They are quite tight through the toe end of the boot, and in a way that is unlikely to improve much over time. Unfortunately, one thing that doesn't work in footwear, especially for hiking, is uncomfortable, so these will end up going back. Saddens me because I truly liked the last pair of Bean boots, which were also wide and fit wonderfully.

The only thing that I do not like about these boots are the way they fit around the ankles, after wearing for a couple of hours my ankles get sore by top of the boots.

I needed to replace a much older pair of Bean boots that had served me well over the years. But these were so disappointing I returned them right away. I did not find them at all comfortable. I like a boot that is durable yet has a flexible sole. These were absolutely rigid and I knew I would be sorry if I kept them.
