I bought these boots in Jan 2021. I only wore them to take the dogs on morning daily walks, ~2miles, on well worn wooded trails during the winter months. I noticed this spring (just now getting around to the actual review) that the interior lining in the heel is wearing out (see pics). I found pieces of the black fabric on the innersoles. I would wear them with thick (soft) winter socks that should not cause such wear. I even ordered a half size larger (9 instead of 8 1/2) to have room for thicker winter socks. I am not hard on my shoes, the bottom soles look brand new. I was happy that they were warm and waterproof but very disappointed at the poor quality of the liner for it to disintegrate so.

Do Not Buy These Boots!! These boots must have been made in a cement factory. The boots were so painful, it felt like concrete wrapped around my ankles. I was very shocked as LL Bean, usually, has such high quality standards. There was not going to be a "break-in" period with these, felt like they were going to break my ankle bones. The foot bed wasn't as comfy as suggested, either. Also, the zipper was very hard to zip up & down. Too bad, such a great looking boot I was going to use for Fall and late Spring.

These boots fit perfectly and are easy to put on. I am a senior with a bad back, and cannot pull on many boots. These are easy to put on, have great non-slip treads, and will be great for walking my dog all winter.

I have been very happy with these boots so far. They stay warm and waterproof in snow and mud and I really appreciate that I don't have to stop and tie laces when I'm on my way out the door. I went up a half size to accommodate thick socks, but I think my regular size would have been fine too. I have not had any of the zipper problems that other reviewers have mentioned.

I bought these to bring my puppy out to the bathroom every few hours in the snow. I LOVE them. So easy to get on and off. I normally wear an 8 in shoes but ended up sticking with a 7.5 because the 8s seemed to have too much room above my foot. The 7.5 is perfect. They are comfortable, warm, and have good traction, which is great for snow, ice, rain! Love these.

I purchased these boots for one purpose, to use for shoveling snow. I'd been using my son's hiking boots for years, which were slightly too large and not waterproof, but they were the only boots I had. I decided to get a pair of actual waterproof boots, so I could shovel snow in greater comfort. I have very difficult feet to fit, and hesitate to buy any shoes online, but in the current circumstances, I wasn't going into a store! When the boots came, I tried them on and thought they were a little big, and a little stiff, but they would do for snow shoveling. Then, a month later, we got a whopper of a storm. Snow fell for two straight days, and I was out shoveling multiple times. The first time out, I thought, since the boots had felt a little big when I tried them on, I'd wear a second pair of heavy socks, and I could hardly get the boots on over them, but they performed just fine. The next time I went out, I decided to bag the second pair of socks, and to my surprise, the boots fit much better than I remembered, and they felt just fine. They kept my feet nice and dry and warm, even when my coat, hat, pants, and gloves were saturated through, and I was able to keep my footing on slippery compacted snow. They're still a little stiff, but after several uses, they are becoming more supple, so I expect that will continue to improve. I recommend these boots for snow shoveling!

Bought this boot 11-15-19 color black size 9 to have something warm to wear in the barn and walking around the farm where the paths are shoveled and clear. This is a good looking boot! And very comfortable. I usually wear an 8.5 or 9. I have not been bothered by rubbing at the ankles as others have stated I do have a problem with the left and the right being different sizes which I mentioned to the store salesman and he said I have one fooot larger than the other. While that may be true I have never in all my years had a problem before wearing any shoe or boot. This is really noticeable and it's getting to be very annoying when walking as I have heel slippage in one foot. I finally measured all the parameters of the boot and the inside measurement is definitely larger on the left than the right so I will be returning the boots. After reading many reviews online I see that this size variation between left and right has been mentioned before. I don't know if I will look for another pair as the boots do not keep my feet warm at any temp below 32 degrees. last week it was 24 and windy and my feet were numb in minutes. I have tried everything, buying the shearling LL Bean insoles, wool socks, two socks, one sock and still cold. They are rated Light activity: to 30 Moderate activity: to -10. I am very active and below 32 my feet are cold. If you are looking for a good looking boot and will be at 32 or above these will be great if there is no fit problems. Yesterday I tested them in 4-6 inches of snow on a cloudy day with temps at 32-35 degrees on flat areas and slight inclines with rocks and limbs. I had on a thin pair of wool leotards, and a medium acrylic blend sock with the normal sole inserts that come with the boot. I keep room for my toes. My feet were comfortable, dry and warm enough. I was outside for a couple of hours. Staying warm when the temps are above 32 and Walking through the snow is not a problem if the terrain is mild. These are not extreme hiking boots . There is not enough tread and they don't give enough ankle support. They are great for flatter areas. On colder days, below freezing, the slush, snow, and ice balls up on the bottom and they are extremely slippery. I almost fell twice, once in packed snow and once coming into the barn on the rubber mats. I would highly reccomend these good looking boots as more of a mild winter, casual boot.

Alas. My feet really need these boots. But the left boot had a faulty zipper right out of the box. It took several minutes of determined effort and patience on my part but I finally got it unzipped without breaking the zipper. Getting it re-zipped was an equal effort. As many of you probably already know, 2021 was an Epic year for Zipper failure issues with a lot of different merchandise. It seems even LL Bean was not spared. But in the very least I can leave this particular zipper failure behind. So I am returning these and feeling confident LL Bean will happily welcome me and the woeful zipper in spite of everything. I've been wearing LL Bean Storm Chaser Boots or Clogs just about every day almost since they were introduced years, (decades?) ago. One pair usually lasts about two or three years at the rate they get worked around here. I still have a pair that I can get on, but I need a larger size. I'll wait until next fall and try again. These are the ideal choice for big jobs in the garden when you need tough protection from cold, wet sticky Virginia mud assuming you luck out and get a pair with good working zippers.

Great looking boots that lack any insulating protection against the cold despite the 200 Primaloft insulation. These are NOT winter boots! I doubt that they are adequate for cool weather. My feet have NEVER been this cold. Did I get the runts of the litter?

Boots have cozy feel immediately after sliding foot into boot. Easy sturdy zipper. Felt comfortable at 20 degrees in Utah. I order a half size up for comfy fit with thick sock. Love'em.

I bought a pair on sale very early in the winter and wore them so often that I bought a second pair this week. I've had RA for over 45 years and have had multiple foot surgeries which make it hard for me to find shoes that are comfortable and sturdy. Because these have a zipper side and flat soles, they are actually easy to get on and off and are easy for me to walk in. They protect my ankles while in the woods for Geocaches. I also like that they have PrimaLoft. It keeps my feet warm but not hot while inside or in the car. My second pair is the shale gray/black. The upper is more green than gray, but I still like it and it's not too far off from the online color.

Finally a boot I can be comfortable with. I have short legs and the top of the boot is high enough to be warm but short enough to be comfortable. Most boots won't fit my legs. Finally a boot that fits short people! And I doubted that the zipper would work for proper fit. Well, The zipper works as well as the lace up model and is a lot easier. I am so pleased with everything about this brand and style that I purchased a pair for Shoveling and working and a pair for going out to stores. If you are 5'1" or shorter... this boot is MARVELOUS.

Love these boots. Great fit even though half sizes not offered. Waterproof for slush, warm for snow. Fit great for snowshoeing, shopping in winter/urban environs, good looking to wear with tights/skirt. You folks do shoes/boots so well.

I have RA and have trouble finding comfortable shoes for the outdoors. These surpassed my expectations. I'm able to put them on easily due to the zipper, and they're comfortable to wear for hours even when the weather isn't too cold.
