I love LLBean and would have never considered giving anything from this company a poor rating - until now. I initially bought the 7, because from all the reviews, I just could not tell which way to go. I have shoes from LLBean that are a 7M, so I opted for that size first. The boots came and unless I had on the thinnest socks, I could not get them on. They were tight so I then went for the 8. I figured with thick socks, which most of us want to wear, the 8 would be a great fit. When they came and I put them on with my thick socks, they were wide and looked ridiculously huge - like clown shoes. Had they been white - they could have passed for something worn in space by the astronauts. I sent them back.

I was really hoping these boots would work out but when I got them they were huge! I put them on and they fit but they were so big and wide I looked like big foot. I had to return them. Sad they didn't work out.

I wear a size nine medium, which is what I ordered, yet the footbed on this boot was a good three inches longer than my foot. Despite that, even with the laces as loose as possible, it was impossible to insert my foot past the point where the leather upper is stiched to the rubber bottom.

These boots look beautiful and I wanted them. I tried them on with mid weight hiking socks. They were much too roomy in the heel and much too tight in the ball of my foot. This is just the opposite of my fitting my fitting needs. They were also very stilf and hard to walk in.
