This was a late birthday gift for my husband. He liked it and says it's warm and comfy. But I think it's a little thin. I used to buy these for all of my boys. They were heavy and could replace a winter jacket for small trips to the store and such. The new one is good looking but I was a little disappointed with the quality. But if he likes it, so be it.

Another quality product from Bean. Construction and fit are exactly as advertised. It is a medium weight jacket that keeps me comfortable in temperatures down to the mid 20's and light wind. The security flap inside the right pocket for securing a billfold, keys, etc. was a pleasant surprise. A feature missing from this jacket that will be important for a future purchase is a zippered pocket inside the left chest for securing a cellphone or billfold. This feature is included in a competitor's jacket.

I purchased the Katahdin hooded full zip flannel lined sweatshirt in burgundy/saddle. First of all this is such a great looking sweatshirt! Loved this color combination. Fit is good. Not oversized or baggy. Fits my frame nicely. Constructed with quality materials. I consider it a mid weight. Liked most everything about this sweatshirt. However I just couldn't get past the taffeta lining in the sleeves. Granted,it makes the jacket easy on and off but the advantage ends there. I was aware when I ordered but the high reviews swayed me into giving it a try. I worked out of doors and in drafty shops for years and sweatshirts are a staple for me. Sorry Bean but when the chill soaks through the outer fabric and it will, that polyesters cold. The inner body of the jacket can be warm but interior of the sleeves is cold. I had to return it. LL Bean, "redesigned" sacrificed comfort for convenience in my opinion. Build this sweatshirt with the flannel lining in the sleeves and I'll buy it again. Otherwise it just doesn't work for me.

I saw this jacket in the LLBean Christmas catalog they sent, but when I tried to order it, I got a message that this would not ship until April!! So I did not order... but really wanted this type of jacket. On a Google search this popped up, so I tried to see if it was available for Christmas - with rush shipping it arrived for Christmas!! My son loves the jacket, so very happy it was here on time, but in the future make sure your catalog items are appropriately in stock!

Nice sweatshirt, however, inside sleeves should be the same material as rest of jacket. The slick surface of the interior sleeves feels odd and cold.

LL Bean has been known for quality for years, but over time things have changed.
I bought this sweat shirt to replace one that I had for a very long time & realized that corners are cut. Sorry, but things just aren't made the way the used to.

This is a great jacket for someone who doesn't like wear an actual coat. We bought this for our 17 year old son who falls into that category. We live in NE & winters can be brutal, especially with the wind we get here! He is 6', weighs 185 lbs. and the Large size fits him wonderfully with room for layering. This blocks the wind and the flannel lining keeps him warm without feeling heavy. He likes that the sleeves have a coat-ish lining. On Christmas morning he had it on and for some odd reason the lining of one cuff/sleeve on the inside ripped out. When I called the following week to inquire about replacing it, I was told it is on back order until April. I said I would just keep it and have a seamstress fix it. The customer service person I spoke with said to take before & after pictures along with a copy of the bill ($10), send it in and they would credit me the amount. That is excellent customer service!! The only reason I gave it 4 stars it because the seam ripped, otherwise this is a great jacket & I would buy it again!

Bottom hem was stitched unevenly and gives the impression it's not pressed well

It fits a little big but it serves the purpose of keeping my husband very warm and comfortable. Well constructed. He would have liked another color like blue but there were none in stock when I ordered.

Like the fit, the design and flannel. Great weight. I would have liked to have the flannel go all down the sleeves instead of the nylon for the look. The nylon makes it easier to pull the sleeves on vs the drag of the flannel. I would buy another.

This is not quite the same as previous years. The sleeves are tighter. The cuffs are almost to tight .
I think they will stretch out . LL Beans branding suggests it is not a Katahdin made product.

Purchased this flannel-lined, hooded sweatshirt for my husband. He's liking it so well, I recently purchased another as a gift. It's a very well constructed garment, with a gusset underarm, for movement. The body is lined in cotton flannel, while the sleeves are taffeta lined for easy on and off. It has washed and dried well. Over the years we've usually liked clothing in Bean's Katahdin Iron Works line and this hoody is no exception. It's a perfect layer as fall weather has cooled, for taking walks and doing yard work.

Warm sweatshirt. The flannel lining makes it nice a toasty for the coming colder months. The poly sleeves allow for easy on an off when wearing a long sleeved shirt underneath.

I wish the flannel lining extended into the sleeves. However, satisfied with purchase.

I have not yet worn the sweatshirt enough to give it a thorough evaluation, but believe that it will be one of my favorite outer garments when weather conditions dictate.

Nice looking jacket, and easy to wear. Fit is good and true to size.... high quality. The only minor problems I have to mention is lack of a second inside mesh pocket (inside the actual pocket) . and I would prefer if the lining was a bit thicker.

I bought this jacket for fall. It is really good but, there is no adjustment at the bottom. So, if you like to wear your shirt out on a soft windy day, the cold is going to get in. So, be aware.

Very comfortable and warm if the wind is not strong and chilly. I would prefer it had at least some windblock. Also there is no zippered pocket for a cell phone or car keys, which is a serious omission for me.

I thought the hooded sweatshirt was great in every way except the color of the small patch on the left side of the chest. If the patch agreed more with the color of the sweatshirt, I would have kept it gladly.

Purchased one of these many years ago made of all cotton and wore it until it finally gave out last year. The cloth lining was the selling point for me. No fleece, no polyester, etc....just plain warm flannel. But this year's edition has the body flannel but for some odd reason did not put it in the sleeves...purported reason being that it made for better slip on and off...NOT. The polyester does not give and makes the sleeves feel constricting. Basically a sweat shirt for $100 , it would have been nice to keep the garment all cotton as most garments made of polyester tend to overheat the wearer. It does look good...I haven't decided whether to return it or not and wait for the switch back to all cotton.
