LLB Small is my usual size - all my weight is in my top half, and this is just right. Although it's pretty light weight, I wouldn't really call it a base layer. It's a bit lighter than other fleece tops, and it actually has a bit of a shape, so it looks perfectly fine out & about, not like you're wearing a sweatshirt. It's quite cozy, and easily fits a thin layer underneath. I would LOVE to get at least one more in pretty much any color, but it looks like they are unavailable in all but XS.

Love this fleece. I got it yesterday and started wearing it right away. It's soft and cozy. It does run small so get the next size up. I usually wear size Small but after reading the reviews I ordered a Medium and it fits quite comfortably. I guess a Small would have fitted too, but it'd have been really tight fitting. Material is soft. It is a little long in the body length for me but not too bad. The only color left on size medium is the black, I'd would have ordered another color just to have an extra but too bad they are not available.

Fit is perfect. Washes great, no pilling at all. Great to wear under anything.

This fleece top is less bulky than a sweatshirt and much tidier looking. It's cozy and warm. The sleeves are snug fitting, but plenty long. I got it in black, but I would love a garnet colored one... This is a go to winter layer for me.

Incredibly warm! The fit is somewhat relaxed, but not completely shapeless. I love the thumb holes in the sleeve to help keep the sleeves down when putting on winter gear. I've enjoyed around the house and while skiing. The color and fabric has held up well through multiple washes. Very happy with this purchase!

I needed a fleece without a zipper or collar for warmth during yoga. I was more than pleased with the weight and fit of this "base layer." The length was perfect. If it came in more and nicer colors, i would like to have several.

This is like an old school thick fleece. Everything now is light weight which is great but skiing in Vermont in January sometimes calls for something heavier. It is also very flattering for apres action. Great price too.

I am loving this shirt more than I imaged... I expected it to be boxy and not so warm... But it is amazingly flattering, very warm and soft! It is one of my new fav's! The arms are long - so appreciated! The length is perfect - about hip with nice slightly curved cut. And it is surprising soft and warm! The fleece is thicker than I expected. Thumb holes are a nice touch as well. The neck line is just right as well, even tho I prefer V-neck...

I have been searching for a fleece top similar to ones I have from LL Bean many years ago. I have tried various new tops , but keep going back to my two originals because they are very simple - no zippers, pockets, collars - just a fleece top than can be worn alone or over a turtleneck. This new shirt is even better - not boxy, longer in the back, fabric is not too heavy. I like a looser fit and the size large is just loose enough. I will say the color blue is NOT blue - it's royal purple, which is my favorite color, so no issue there. I would like to see more colors because I would like to get a second shirt.

Very comfortable, very warm. Washes well, which is good since I find myself constantly wearing it. I just ordered it in black, not usually a good color for me, but the shirt is worth it. Please offer in more colors!

This item was the hit of Christmas for my wife! She's worn it several times already, washed it once and it back ready to be worn again. I think it's her new "favorite fleece".

Have this shirt in navy in a Medium Reg and it's almost too small so ordered a Large Reg and it's huge. Very big sizing difference

As a very tall ( nearly 6' ) and slender ( 125 lbs.) gal, I wasn't sure what size to order so I erred on the larger side and got an L. It is actually kind of large on me, like a sweatshirt so I can wear layers underneath it. As other reviewers have said, it flares out at the bottom. I can't use the thumb holes but that's OK because the sleeves are long enough for me. What I really like is the fact that it's well made and the fabric is soft and warm. It's been great to have for these unseasonably cold nights here in Southern CA. Did I mention I have cats? I'm now the most popular human in the house when I wear this top.

Bought this for my wife, however she hasn't worn it

I wanted something soft, warm, and somewhat snug-fitting and this top is just right for that.(Wish it came in more colors!) I'm somewhat tall and thin (5-8 1/2, 120 lbs.) and have trouble finding shirts that aren't too baggy, but have sleeves that are long enough. I bought a small, and although I can't comfortably put my thumbs through the thumb-holes, because of the design, the sleeves are actually long enough for me for regular use. So thumbs up on this top! ;-)

This is soft and cozy fleece w thumbholes. I wouldn’t call it a base layer; it’s pretty thick. Better over a t-shirt or long johns. Very nice though!

Unlike most LL Bean clothing for women (which run large), this fleece top runs small.

I found these base layers very warm & comfortable. They're great around the house as lounge wear but too bulky to wear under my clothes.

but Sizes run big

I really love this top, I think, for me, I should have purchased the large because this is a bit snug for me. I can wear a layer underneath, but would like a bit more room. Still, I wear it and love it. super colorful, which we need in the gray winter days of Northern Michigan.

This was a decent fleece sweater, but it felt a little more snug/constricting than I liked. I usually wear a Medium with ease, but this felt tight in the shoulders and there is little to no stretch in this type of fabric. It seemed made well and warm, but it wasn't to my taste.

Wonderful feel, nice fabric and very comfortable but WAY too big. The arms are so long you can't even see my finger tips and I have pretty long arms. My husband days it looks larger than even a men's small. I got another Small top, mid weight, and it fits perfectly. Disappointing. This almost has to be mismarked.
