My husband said they look like clown shoes (I got the orange ones) but I don't care because yesterday I wore them on a 4-mile hike in the Colorado mountains (uphill! over rocks! and then downhill! over rocks!) and MY FEET DIDN'T HURT. I'm 53, haven't done much since Covid, and am really out of shape. I used to walk and hike a lot but it's been easy to talk myself out of that lately. I have a history of plantar fasciitis and tendonitis in my arch and generally only wear Birkenstocks at home. It's hard to find shoes that feel good. I thought maybe if I got a snazzy new pair of trail running shoes I'd be motivated to exercise, so I ordered 4 to try on (North Face, Ryka, Brooks, and these Hokas). Before I even tried any of them on I had a feeling the ugly ones would fit the best, and of course they did. Yesterday I decided to try them out on a new trail in one of the state parks -- it started off flat and then quickly went up a mountain, switchback after switchback over rocks of all sizes. I didn't slip a single time with these shoes on -- this is pretty monumental for me, I am not good on little gravel/pebble rocks, plus I was walking with a very enthusiastic dog pulling ahead on a leash. The shoes felt great the entire walk. My husband asked if anyone made fun of them (they didn't, within earshot anyway). When I got home after the hike I didn't even take the shoes off for a while. And today my feet don't hurt at all. This makes me actually want to go hiking again! Soon! Maybe on a different trail that's not up a mountain. I don't care if my Hokas are ugly. They are my new favorite shoes. I love them. I got them in a 10 -- I measure at a 9 or 9.5 (and wear a 39 in Birks) but usually need to size up to a 10 for running shoes or hiking boots. My feet are a little flat and a little wide -- not enough that I need to order a wide shoe, but shoes that run narrow never work for me. The 10 fits perfectly with no break-in needed -- I didn't get a single blister or sore spot yesterday. I wore them with thin ankle socks and tightened up the laces a bit, but could easily wear them with thicker socks too. I love them so much that I'm going to see what other Hokas I might like, maybe something a little more subtle.

I literally feel like I am flying in these awesome shoes! I have absolutely PR'd in them (thank you carbon fiber plate and Hoka shoe designers). Lighter and more sensitive for shorter distances up to 50K-50M. I usually wear Speedgoat 5's. Speedgoats have more cushion for longer distances and very technical trails. But for smooth buttery trails at the 50K-50M (or less) distance, get ready to FLY in the Tecton X!

These fit comfortably right out of the box but I tested them out on a three mile trail hike before posting this review. I’m not a runner but I regularly hike and walk in rough terrain and have never found a hiking boot that doesn’t give me blisters, so I stick to athletic shoes. These shoes provide good grip and didn’t rub or hurt anywhere. I like the bright colors and style as well. Pricey but worth it.

Bought these to Run/Hike on trails and couldn't be more pleased. They have amazing traction and because of the rock plate my feet feel great even on our stony trails here in the southwest. They are nimble and after 6 miles my feet have never felt so good. LOVE them and will be ordering another pair. Please add a darker color too!

I guess this brand is all the rage now. Very lightweight and sturdy. Looks great, too! I’m 74 years old with bunions and I usually need a wide, but the toe box in this shoe is nice and big which is nice since they don’t come in wide. I am sending them back, though, because they are not as cushy as I would like. I’m sure they would be perfect for younger feet. The colors are beautiful!

I wanted to love these shoes, but I didn't realize they had a flat tongue (my personal quirk) and they weren't as cushiony as the Bondis that I am replacing. I am not a runner, just a walker, so it's all about the cushion for me! Too bad, because I love this color! I love Hokas for the amazing comfort, but also for the glorious colors!

Like these Hokas a lot.. Very comfortable good support, attractive, like the very thin tongue which is easily pulled up after putting them on-
they are just a little bit too long - got a 7 and 1/2. I think the 7 would be a bit too small. But nevertheless they are very good

Fantastic shoes! These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Not only can I stand in them all day without feeling any impact, but I cannot even feel the upper part of the shoes. These shoes are remarkably engineered to perfectly fit our feet. Thank you Hoka!

The best fitting shoes ever that don’t hurt my bunions! I ordered 4 different pair of Hokas hoping that at lease 2 would work out but the 3 others squeezed my toes just a bit. I had heard that Hokas have a wider toe box but unfortunately the speed goat 5’s, Clifton 8’s and Bondi 7’s didn’t accommodate my bunions. The Tecton X’s were the most expensive pair but well worth it because they feel like a dream. No break in period needed. I’ve already been out walking long distance several times with these and couldn’t be happier. Someone told me that mens’ Hokas generally have a wider toe box so I might try a pair of those next.

I love this shoe! I've hiked 20 different states in these shoes. Extremely lightweight, packs well, and easy to clean. I am wanting another pair so I have the other color option.

I used these to hike in the Rocky Mountains. The extra stiffness and durability were a must. The traction was great. Now I were them for workouts.

These shows are amazing for your feet with the perfect toe box but not so much on your ankles when trail running. Little to no ankle support on trails so better suited for non elevated runs or when you are outdoors on your feet all day. The back of the shoe dug into my ankle and created a bloody mess while hiking/running on elevated trails. I did not have the same issue when running on the beach.

I went way out on a limb to spend $200 plus on a pair of shoes. I am a below knee amputee and my "meat foot" takes a beating to make up for the missing foot. I'm extremely physically active and wanted a shoe that could make my meat foot more comfortableparticularly across the ball of my foot. While the added stability (I'm a supination) and rear foot padding is excellent, I still find that the offing across the ball of my foot is insufficient and I'm continuing to have problems with the lack of added padding, resulting in a sore foot after even walking distances on hard surfaces as well as running.

Very disappointed in these. The laces come up very high on my foot so it is not possible to lace them very tightly. Would not recommend if you have high arches.

I love this particular Hoka model. I have very flat and narrow feet and I can comfortably wear the Tecton X all day without experiencing foot fatigue or soreness. Since I do have narrow feet, I do have problems finding shoes that fit comfortably (not too wide for my foot), so the "M" may not be the best fit for some folks, but with the type of socks that I wear, they fit me perfectly. I love the multi-color style of the Tecton X (I have the bright blue), but wish it came in even more colors (like maybe a purple)....I'd likely buy more Tecton Xs if there was a wider range of colors. And, for what it's worth, I do get lots of complements on these shoes.

I have hallux rigidus & finding shoes that I can run in is almost impossible. The carbon plate & the wide Hoka toe box are winners. I got the orange ones & they are seriously ugly but so comfortable that I don't even care.

Wanted to do a follow up to my last positive review. I have both colors of these shoes. Techron X has become my go to shoe for everything. Hiking miles has now become easy. No more do I feel powerless on steep terrain. PLEASE ADD A GTX VERSION OR BETTER YET ONE FOR ABOVE THE ANKLE ! Want to have these shoes on through the winter. Bravo to the design team.
