Solimar is light and comfortable on the feet but it is sort of the entry level Hoka because it is not so good for treadmill walking or running giving no next step assist like the rocker sole models.
I would recommend Hoka models other than the Solimar.

I had high hopes for comfort and gym use. Okay for comfort, nothing special. Toes were slippery at gym

I loved my Hoka Mach 4 sneakers. They were perfect, but they don't make them anymore and none that I have tried on have had the arch support that I need. So sad.

I underestimated my need for a Wide Hoka shoe. Loved the color but they were far too narrow. I wish there were fun colors in wide.

I wear the same size in all 3 pairs of hoka I own but had to return these because they were too small and tight. Will still with my Bondi 7 and Clifton 8

One, the shoe is incredibly comfortable. Hokas are amazing in that way. My problem with this shoe is I get the sock style stretchy fabric of it, but working out in it is just a no go for me. I rolled my ankle pretty good within 24 hours of wearing it. Any way I moved doing lunges/CrossFit etc the sole would just almost snap to roll to the side. I do have slightly narrow feet, I don't know if that was a factor. But for me, I'd keep this as a strictly walking shoe or for someone with more normal to wide foot.
Again I stress - it is extremely comfortable. I was so excited until my ankle sprain. First ankle sprain I've had in my life.

They squeak. Returned the first pair as they started squeaking after two weeks. Wore for a bit longer but it continued, so exchanged for the same style as I liked them. Alas, now the second pair is squeaking. Other than that they're a great shoe, but I can't live with squeaking. So glad for HOKA's generous return policy.

My feet seem to hurt more after wearing the shoes. Not sure if it's a coincidence. I think I like Brooks shoes better. More cushion than these walking shoes offered. They were on sale so I didn't pay full price. So I'm okay with it.

I use the shoe for gym workouts and walking. I alternate wearing it walking with the Clifton 8 shoe. I like the subtle looks of the black on black logo. The shoe is comfortable, functional, and attractive, but...the flaw is that 8 weeks into wearing it on a semi-regular basis, it developed a squeak. I'll try the recommended baby powder trick to see if that takes care of the noise before pursuing a return/exchange. Of course now, my size 7Wide is no longer available, and there is no other wide, neutral training shoe with moderate cushion. This shoe replaced the Hupana Flow for me. The soles of the Hupana are worn out after almost 2 years of wear, and the cushioning is probably worn out. Still, developing an audible squeak after 8 weeks vs almost 2 years of consistent wear, that seems to be a quality control concern.

The shoes were not as cushioned as I expected and the toe box a bit narrow for my foot. I don't usually need a wide width but would have ordered one if it was available.
I returned these.

It is not the right shoe for me but I'm willing to try other Hoka styles. I need more arch support and higher heel bed.

I have bought 4 pair of HOKA in the past and have never been disappointed until now. I tried to find the Hupana on the site but couldn't locate them. I am going to Disney World and need the inside sole comfort for walking miles a day and these Solimar have very little if not any in parts of the insoles. Very disappointed.

Love these shoes! Wish I had bought sooner. The support these shoes give my ankles and knees is phenomenal.

So there is a lot of hype behind these shoes. A few friends have them. They love HOKAs. However, they just aren't for me. I will say there is a lot of cushion at the heal. It was nice that they were available in Wide. Unfortunately they do not support my foot in the way that I need.
I am saying 3 stars as I am thinking Long the lines of a neutral rating. I am sure they are great for a lot of other athletes.

The shoe felt a little cheap for the price point. The heel oddly slipped off even though the length was fine.

I bought these online based on the color, was looking for a light colored low profile shoe. I think I belong in the million Hoka club because I've been wearing this brand for years, for everything, and trust in their fit and quality. Wasn't familiar with the Solimar, and mostly wear trail runners but I love the Mach road runners as well. These look great but have the least amount of support and cushion of any Hoka I've ever had. I kept them an will wear for easy things since they look great.
