I go trail running in Los Angeles (Elysian Park). I had a different pair of trail shoes that ended up giving my knee and leg injury. After returning those and getting these, I felt as though I could run for a lot longer. Very very happy with these shoes. I almost want to get a second pair but they are pricey! Definitely getting another pair when the time comes.

Bought a pair and hiked to Guadalupe Peak. The Speedgoats were super comfortable, grippy, and were great for the 8.4mi hike and just wearing around the house.

I borrowed a pair of my son's Hokas to play golf in when my golf bag didn't arrive on time. They were great for walking a mountain course, extremely comfortable and plenty of grip (at least on dry turf). The Speedgoats I ordered have been great for workouts and hikes where the trail/terrain is not too rocky and uneven, and if I were still trail running (I'm 68 with two partial knee replacements) I'd definitely be using them for that, as my son does. The one vulnerability of these, and all Hokas, is the very soft midsole material that is susceptible to damage from rocks and/or missteps. For hiking and climbing in alpine terrain on scree/talus, I use an approach shoe with a full rubber rand that goes all the way around the shoe and is impervious to scrapes and gouges.

These were comfortable from the start and handled the first trail like a champ.

I also run Altra X 10 years so the wide felt more of a similar fit in the toebox. I first took these on a11.2 mile 3,500 ft elevation gain run with zero complaint. Great cushioning, stability, and no odd rubbing.

Speedgoat 5 are my first trail shoe I've ever purchased and I've love them. I've had a few blisters on long trail run 25+ mile runs but I was still able to push through and finish. The comfort, traction and stability is awesome. The only complain I have is the toe box is narrow for me on a regular width shoe so I'm going to go with the wide version for my next purchase. Most of these miles have been on single track such as the Applachian trail, so a lot of rocks, roots, creeks, etc!

So far I have been very happy with these Hokas. They are a little snug due to the way the tongue is attached to the shoe with elastic. The color is great and I really like the dark grey/black midsole and black outsole. The drop is a little less than the shoes I have been wearing and the midsole is just a little more firm than the shoes I have been wearing as well. Overall the shoe seems to be constructed pretty well and I am happy with my purchase. I have experienced issues with the outsole coming unglued from the midsole after prolonged wear with previous Hoka shoes, so I'll let you know in a few months how they hold up.

excellent cushion/support with generous layer of foam rubber, very comfortable to my joints. the soft rubber sustains very well after 200 miles and still going strong. the aesthetic design and offering of colors are selling points. i personally love the two red color and the green options. Love them.
Two Suggestions:
1. introduce Extra Wide (4E) option to Speed Goat 5. at present, you only offer up to 2E so i have to buy one size larger even at 2E to fit these shoes.
2. reinforce the Vibram rubber at the bottom sole to increase durability. the Vibram rubber wears out after 200 miles and one must purchase new shoes. an additional layer of Vibram would extend the life of the shoes by another 100-150 miles? it would be nice if your engineers target these shoes at 300 miles minimum?

Normal width Hokas are too narrow for my feet, so I'm very happy those come in wide. I took these on a long, steep trail run with technical terrain, mud, and some snow. The shoes were perfect. They're absorb so much of the impact without feeling sluggish or heavy. Grip is great. In fact, they feel incredibly light. I was worried about the stability given the high platform, especially at speed over uneven terrain, but the shoes absorb all the bumps, giving you a very smooth, even ride. As opposed to a minimal shoe, after a long day my feet and calves felt fresh! Overall, this shoe is so good, it feels like cheating.

Used the Speed Goats to hike the tour Mt Blanc. We had perfect weather, sunny and dry. Goats held up well and got me up and down the mountains without problems. We did 50 miles in 5 days. I'm 6'5" and 250lbs. Had no complaints. Had no issues with my feet. No blisters. They worked perfectly on sleep slopes up and down and as well on the flats. Had no issue with grip, no slippage. Recommended for dry weather on the Tour du Mont Blanc. I did spray them with scotchguard prior to hiking, wiped clean at the finish.

It is early days -- I have only had these shoes for one month -- but I regularly walk mountain trails 2-3 hours every day. So far they have been very comfortable and sturdy, with reliable footing and balance. Much better than regular running shoes that I have used in the past, but lighter and more comfortable than hiking boots. Now, if they only made them in a waterproof version..........

Bought speedgoat 5 going by their size chart. 1st pair were way too tight. Sent back and received wide pair in less than a week. They fit well and feel great on the trail!
